CHELSEA are close to landing Jamie Gittens for £55.5million from Borussia Dortmund.
Both clubs, who are at the Club World Cup in the United States, have been locked in talks in the last 48 hours and should reach an agreement next week.

Gittens, 20, is ready to end his four-year stint in Germany and return to the club where he was once part of the youth set-up.
Chelsea were hoping to secure the England Under-21 international for £50m with add-ons but the deal will cost more.
Gittens has struggled with illness and hardly played in the USA.
The Blues have already spent £1.4billion to assemble their current squad, but club transfer chiefs are desperate to bring their former youth star back home.
to tempt him into a Stamford Bridge return, despite a £42million bid being rejected earlier this month.
Gittens - who changed his surname from Bynoe-Gittens on the advice of his father - enjoyed a breakout season with Dortmund.
Across 48 games in all competitions before the Club World Cup, 34 of which he started, the England youth star netted 12 goals and added five assists.

Gittens joins new Dortmund team-mate Jobe Bellingham and Chelsea's Liam Delap in a list full of players who couldn't join England's Under-21s at the Euros this summer.
Despite several high profile absences, the young Three Lions have made the Euros final yet again, where they hope to retain their title when they face off against Germany on Saturday night.
15 year old Jamie Bynoe-Gittens shows why he is such a special player at Man City
Meanwhile, Blues defender Tosin Adarabioyo insists Cole Palmer CAN handle the hype of being the club's 'superstar'.
The pair were pals at Manchester City, even though Tosin, 27, is four years older.
Fifa have used the face of Palmer on every poster plugging Blues' games at the Club World Cup, including Saturday's last- 16 clash with Benfica.
Tosin said: 'I banter him sometimes and tell him he's a little superstar. But he handles it very well and he knows his focus is on football.'

Yainer Diaz, Cam Smith belt homers as Astros top Cubs

June 28 - Yainer Diaz and Cam Smith slugged three-run home runs, and Brandon Walter earned his first career victory as the Houston Astros topped the Chicago Cubs 7-4 on Friday in the opener of a three-game interleague series. The Astros stretched their winning streak to five games with their early power display against Cubs right-hander Cade Horton (3-2). Houston is 18-4 over its last 22 home games and is riding a nine-game home winning streak. Horton sidestepped danger in the first and second innings, thanks largely to the handiwork of corner outfielders Kyle Tucker and Ian Happ. Tucker, returning to Houston after being traded by the Astros to the Cubs during the offseason, erased Isaac Paredes at the plate to cap the first after fielding Jake Meyers' single and firing an accurate throw to catcher Carson Kelly. Paredes, part of the three-player haul the Astros received for Tucker, smacked a sinking line drive with the bases loaded and two outs in the second that Happ snagged to snuff that threat. But Houston loaded the bases against Horton with no outs in the third and finally broke through. Victor Caratini lofted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Jose Altuve and provided the Astros a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Diaz drilled a first-pitch sweeper to left-center field, and his 10th home run covered 377 feet and extended the Houston lead to 4-0. An inning later, Smith, the second position player the Cubs shipped to Houston in the Tucker transaction, delivered. Smith followed one-out singles from Paredes (2-for-5) and Altuve with his sixth home run. He bashed a first-pitch fastball 398 feet to left-center that upped the lead to 7-0. Smith finished 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and three RBIs in his first meeting against his former organization. Horton allowed seven runs on eight hits and four walks with two strikeouts over four innings. Walter (1-1) worked around a leadoff triple from Dansby Swanson in the second and surrendered a homer to Nico Hoerner in the fifth. Walter allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts over six innings. Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw followed his two-run double in the seventh inning with an RBI double in the ninth, forcing Houston to summon closer Josh Hader, who recorded the final out in the ninth for his 22nd save. Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena, hit by a pitch in the second inning, later departed with left rib soreness. --Field Level Media

Chelsea and Man Utd 'get Emi Martinez transfer message' as sale stance emerges

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Emi Martinez this summer but Chelsea have also been sounded out about a transfer swoop for the Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez remains keen on an exit from Aston Villa this summer and both Chelsea and Manchester United are said to have been given 'encouragement' over a move from the Argentine's camp. Martinez, 32, has established himself as one of the Premier League's top goalkeepers since joining Villa from Arsenal. But there are doubts over his long-term future and it's understood that he is keen on a move ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. ‌ Manchester United have been heavily linked with Martinez amid the ongoing scrutiny over Andre Onana 's position at Old Trafford. ‌ It had been claimed via reports in Argentina, via The Metro, that Chelsea - and Maresca in particular - were keen on the idea of challenging their old rivals for Martinez's signature. Furthermore, The Mail claim that both the Blues and United have been given encouragement from Martinez's representatives over a potential move for his services this summer, with Villa ready to consider a sale if they receive serious offers for their current No.1. It's been outlined elsewhere, though, that Chelsea are not currently targeting Martinez as they are focused on strengthening in other positions. Chelsea have already attempted to sign Mike Maignan, the AC Milan keeper, this summer only for talks over a potential deal to collapse due to the Italian giants' demands. Reports have since indicated that Chelsea are happy with their current goalkeeping options, consisting of Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders, with Djordje Petrovic seeking a transfer to continue playing regular first-team football. ‌ A move for Martinez - or any other goalkeeper for that matter - would represent a major U-turn for the Blues, whose current No.1 in Sanchez was subjected to criticism during the 2024-25 campaign. Martinez is understood to have already received proposals from ambitious clubs in the Saudi Pro League, however, he is not sold on the idea of moving to the Middle East this stage of his career and would prefer to keep playing at an elite level in Europe. His interest in a transfer to Manchester United has been well documented in recent weeks, thought any deal would likely be difficult given the Red Devils missed out on qualifying for the Champions League and will have to cut their cloth accordingly in the transfer market with big-money deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo likely to eat up a large portion of their summer transfer budget.
