I have a confession to make: I'm addicted to buying lip products. Now, I know this sounds like an overexaggeration for a little editorial embellishment, but truly, my arsenal of lip products is hefty. From glosses to liners to masks, my lips have tried it all. Sephora's grab-and-go section has gotten me in trouble more times than I can count, and I can never leave Ulta without filling my basket with some of my drugstore faves. (Even if I promise myself I'm just perusing to see what's new on the market.) It's also become a slight occupational hazard with my downtime now spent testing dozens of beauty products—both niche and popular—for all you lovely readers. And believe me, I'm not complaining. With my vanity drawers now stuffed to the brim, buying any more lip products seems nonsensical, but when I hear whispers (more like shouts) of a lip product that has Gen-Z in an uproar, that's when I know it's time to put my beauty shopping skills to good use.
Recently, I got my hands on the peptide lip tint from clean girl-forward beauty brand Rhode Skin, owned by model-turned-mogul Hailey Bieber. After a day of light research, I reluctantly typed my card info into the Rhode site to purchase not only one, but two of their lip tints—and one already PureWow-approved pocket blush—to see if they're worth their social media street cred. Here are my thoughts—plus a few original photos to show how the lip tints fared against my dark complexion.

3 Editors Test the Rhode Peptide Lip Shape—and Here's Our Honest Review
Rhode Skin
The peptide lip tint is a sheer-but-buildable lippie promising to hydrate and plump your lips from day to night. Made with key ingredients of shea butter, peptide, cupuaçu and babassu, the 0.3-ounce tube is filled with a mild, unscented formula meant to provide a subtle tint while nourishing and locking in moisture on the lips. You've most likely seen it out in the wild already—either on social media or slotted in a passing stranger's phone case (also from the brand), wearing it proudly as an accessory. This tint is not to be confused with Rhode's OG lip treatment, which I'll touch on more below.
Original Photos by Courtney Mason; She wears the shade "Espresso" without and with a lip liner
First impressions: The packaging was very sleek and simple, and honestly felt very true to Rhode. Each lip tint tube is coordinated to match every shade offered. I purchased espresso, which is described as a rich brown, and peach pit, which comes off as a warm peachy pink. From the box to my fingertips, the lip tint's slim profile felt perfectly sized in my hand. I would say it's around the same size as the Summer Fridays lip balm but a bit shorter in stature. Upon first swipe, the texture felt more like a chapstick, but held the sheen and shine of a lip gloss or lip oil. My lips felt softer and nourished within minutes. Espresso is more suited to my skin tone, so I only noticed a slight tint, even with an extra layer. Peach pit, which the brand no longer offers, showed up as a sheer, warm pale pink on my lips, and I would have to add a lip liner if I layered on any more. During my tests of the two shades, I actually paired them with the Rhode peptide lip shape in the shade flex, a neutral dark brown, to see the difference with and without a liner. Rhode actually recommends for customers to apply the tint over a lip liner, and I wholeheartedly agree. A bit of added dimension on the lips goes a long way.
As promised, the tint is unscented, unlike their original untinted peptide treatment, which comes in scents ranging from a cake-like vanilla to a refreshing watermelon. The one gripe I did have with the tint was hard to shake off. After days of grabbing and swiping and loving the lip tint, things took a turn. And if you already own the lippie, then you know what I'm referring to—the graininess. Yes, graininess. At first, I couldn't believe what I was feeling. It felt as if I had forgotten to wipe the post-breakfast crumbs off my lips before applying or a pesky stray hair had flown into my gloss, creating that uncomfortable feeling of chasing a ghost we all know and loathe. But after phoning a friend who also purchased the lip tint and wouldn't stop raving about it, she revealed hers was grainy as well, but it didn't deter her at all. Unfortunately, I can't relate. There are lots of things I love to pair with a great gloss, and texture isn't one of them.
According to beauty content creator Oriana (@orianasiphonoum), who the brand reached out to, Rhode reports the gritty and grainy texture is due to the waxes in the tint that can harden with temperature changes. Any odd textures should smooth out upon application. Oriana and other creators had their own fix for the grittiness by soaking the lip tint tube in warm water and massaging it as it cooled down to make it as good as new. Although, I feel like the purpose of a sleek and portable lippie is that there should be no busywork; just grab it and go. Submerging your product in heated water before use seems to diminish the point. However, after some time passing and rubbing my lips together a few times, the graininess did become an afterthought, with the moisturized feeling taking over once more.

Overall, the Rhode peptide lip tint is a good moisturizing lip product, even with the surprise appearance of the grainy texture. While it's not my favorite peptide lip product in my collection, it still gets the job done of nourishing the lips while providing an elevated look more than the average lip balm. If you're not short on lip products like I am, I advise skipping it. But if you're looking for an everyday lip option and it's your first time shopping with the brand, it's a good choice to snag first. At $18 for 0.3 ounces, I'd also say that's not a terrible price compared to my tried-and-true peptide lip treatment from Olehenriksen, which sits at $22 for 0.4 ounces.
I will not lie, I've been hesitant to try Rhode Skin products in the past due to my feelings about the influx of celebrity beauty brands flooding the industry. But now, after trying the lip tint, the pocket blush and more recently, their peptide lip shape, I have opened myself up to trying even more from the brand. Between their highly-rated skin care and their latest berry-toned releases for spring, I'm curious to see what else the brand has up its sleeve in the future.

Last-Minute Shopping? These Ready-To-Pack Looks Are All on Amazon

I don't even have a trip planned, but the sheer act of writing this story gave me a buzz. That's how much I love dressing for summer vacation. I'm here to bust the myth that you have to spend a fortune to look good on your getaway. To prove a point, I did a little experiment. The objective was to find ultra stylish, ultra-Instagrammable summer vacation outfits on Amazon. And guess what? I even surprised myself. Below, take inspiration and shoppable cues from my 11 outfit ideas for days when you put on more than just a swimsuit. And if you think I didn't legitimately order several of these exact looks for myself in the process, guess again. The Bubble Skirt The charming return of bubble skirts was a shock to us all, but suddenly, I can't get enough. Now is the time to wear your favorite white pieces and all the raffia you can find. Dressed Up I know the drill: beach bum by day, five-star restaurant for dinner. It's quite literally what I look forward to all year. On those evenings when you feel like showing up and showing out, I recommend a silky dress. Resort Vibes 'Tis the season to wear a cover-up as an outfit, and call it a day. Of course, this crochet duo will look incredible over a swimsuit, but don't let that discourage you from getting creative. The best part about packing coordinating sets is that they can be styled as separates, too. That's at least three different outfits from just two items. Girl math! All Black Think you can't get away with all black in the summer? Au contraire, mon ami. While everyone's favorite color does attract the sun—and thus can become hotter than its light-hued counterparts—black can be very chic for summer, especially if you're vacationing somewhere like Paris or New York City. I'm personally obsessed with these tailored Bermuda shorts and this toe-ring sandal. Guava Girl Allegedly it's 'guava girl summer' and 'sardine girl summer'? It's hard to keep up, but here's what you need to know: The hottest trend this season is dress like you're having fun. And the best way to do that is, yes, to actually have fun with your wardrobe. Guava girls are turning to hibiscus motifs and tropical palettes, while sardine gals are opting for all things fish-shaped (obviously). I think I'm more of the former variety, so here's my take on a playful guava-inspired ensemble. Laidback Prep When temperatures are truly oppressive, minimal effort is key. You can never go wrong with a matching set, bonus points if it's linen. To elevate an otherwise simple look, try adding boat shoes, which offer a nautical touch, and statement accessories. This hat is Kendall Jenner-approved, by the way. A Halter & Kitten Heels Among ELLE's shopping team, we're collectively obsessed with halter tops for summer. I have at least four in my own rotation. And I'm very into the combo of loose jeans and kitten heels at the moment. I can't believe I didn't find this barrel style sooner—it's basically an exact replica of my favorite $100 pair for less than half the price. Lowkey Comfort First of all, an Olsen-endorsed sandal for walking? Say less. I've never ordered something so fast. For chill afternoons that don't require getting dolled up or for travel days when you want to be cozy and cute, this ensemble never misses. A flowy pull-on pant and a white tank top will always be a winning recipe. Add a light layer and beachy accessories to taste. Neutral Glam Not to be dramatic, but I'm pretty sure I would die for this Simon Miller bag. It's the only purse I want to use this summer. For the understated icon, this outfit is all about clean girl energy. Freshly washed hair in a slick bun, sun-kissed skin, and a spritz with a me there now. (And P.S., anklets are so in.) Polka Dots By now you're probably heard that patterns are having a moment this summer—gingham, polka dots, and stripes, namely. I love them all equally, but this darling dress was too cute to ignore, so we'll stick with spots this time. With a little cardi wrapped around your shoulder in case it gets chilly? Très magnifique. Denim Shorts I have to show some love to my casual girls, too. After all, not every vacation is sun, sea, and sand. For the urban explorer or mountain mama, summerify your everyday go-tos by adding pops of color. Besides, no suitcase feels complete without a pair of jean shorts. 'There is quite an impressive roster of summer dresses hidden on Amazon. I'm hoping to score a few new styles and enjoy the fast shipping this Prime Day.'—Alexis Bennett Parker, commerce content lead 'Praised in our PDRN roundup, this vegan serum is my secret weapon for waking up with plump, glowing skin. With niacinamide, adenosine, and holy basil leaf extract, it calms redness, clears breakouts, and evens skin tone practically overnight. If you want smoother skin and the perfect base for makeup, this one's a must-try.'—Laura Tarafa, commerce writer 'Baseball season is officially here, so it's time to break out my Yankees hat. There's a reason this team is the top choice around the world—from models to celebrities and beyond. New York or nowhere!'—Claire Stern Milch, digital director 'All the girls seem to be wearing kitten heel flip flops, so of course, I have to get on board.'—Meg Donohue, associate fashion commerce editor 'I've reached the stage of adulting where I use Amazon Prime Day to stock up on grown-up essentials instead of buying yet another cute workout set I'll never actually wear to the gym (I'm a big tee and shorts kind of girl). At the top of my list is a portable water flosser. I already house a bulkier Waterpik in my bathroom. Still, as someone who travels frequently—and flossing is an absolute must, regardless of the region—I love the ease of having a cordless, rechargeable flosser with precision and brush tips to tackle every crack and crevice.'—Nerisha Penrose, beauty commerce editor 'I've been using this tea tree oil serum for years now, and Prime Day is the perfect excuse to stock up. It keeps my sensitive, acne-prone skin in-check, while providing a gorgeous glow.'—Emma Aerin Becker, associate beauty e-commerce writer 'I've held out for as long as possible, but I think it's time for me to finally give in and buy an Oura ring. I'm not usually competitive, but I even I want to brag about my sleep score!'—Meg Donohue 'As a gardenia enthusiast and someone who adores fresh, floral scents, I find this perfume simply divine. It has a light, fresh aroma that's subtle, yet noticeable enough to earn me compliments all day long. It's become one of my must-have fragrances for summer, and now that it's 15 percent off, I'll definitely be stocking up.'—Laura Tarafa 'I'm honestly not sure how my skin survived without pimple patches. The Mighty Patch from Hero Cosmetics is my favorite for its magic pimple-erasing powers and ultra-invisible appearance—and now they're 20 percent off.'—Emma Aerin Becker 'If you're anything like me and love to drink coffee and laugh as much, you can understand the sheer paranoia of living with stained teeth for eternity. Dramatic? Maybe, but I'll do whatever I can to prevent it. This kit does the job as long as you're consistent. I haven't enjoyed other whitening kits because they make my teeth sensitive and tight, but Luminex's version is comfortable and reliable.'—Nerisha Penrose 'Trust me, this is the SPF you'll want in your beach bag all summer long. This formula is unlike anything I've tried—ultra-hydrating, soothing, and leaves no white cast. No eye-stinging, no greasy residue, just a lightweight liquid that melts in effortlessly. It leaves behind a soft, natural glow and wears beautifully under makeup, doubling as the perfect primer!'—Laura Tarafa 'I present to you my Prime Day purchase of 2024: the Apple Airpods Max. Since then, I have worn these headphones through enough long office days and extra-loud flights to officially deem them a top tech pick.'—Emma Aerin Becker 'I've heard incredible things about the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam. Now that it's 30 percent off, I think it's time to jump on the bandwagon.'—Emma Aerin Becker 'I recently purchased this ceramic curling iron from Kristin Ess, and now i actually enjoy curling my hair. My hair glides through the barrel so smoothly, and the included heat protectant ensures my styled strands are never fried.'—Emma Aerin Becker 'My skin can't survive a sweaty, muggy New York City summer without a hypochlorous acid spray. This one from Tower 28 calms and soothes and has antibacterial properties, everything my face needs after battling the elements in the dead of July.'—Madison Feller, digital deputy editor 'Although the Hatch alarm clock seems totally extra to me—I love being extra. Prime Day is the perfect excuse to finally pull the plug on this purchase I've been dreaming out. With an easy breezy wake-up call, I'm hoping this addition makes me a morning person.'—Emma Aerin Becker

On Wednesday, July 2, the rhode founder, 28, announced the latest iteration of her brand's popular Peptide Lip Tint in the shade Lemontini. In the campaign images, Bieber sports a black swimsuit as she sips a lemon cocktail in front of clear blue waters. The model shared news of the launch on her Instagram Stories and responded to feedback she's apparently already getting about the shade. "and stop asking me why it's not 'butter yellow,'" Bieber wrote alongside one of the campaign snaps. The sheer gold shade features a shimmery finish and, like all of Rhode's products, is packed with nourishing skincare ingredients. On May 28, it was announced that Rhode was acquired by e.l.f. Per a press release, Bieber will continue her role as founder and additionally serve as Rhode's chief creative officer and head of innovation, overseeing creative, product innovation and marketing. She will also act as a strategic advisor to the combined companies. Following news of the lucrative deal, a source told PEOPLE that Bieber didn't even have to look for a buyer to take her company to the next step."This deal came to her," the source shared. "She's incredibly excited about this new step. She's proud of how far Rhode has come, and she truly believes that teaming up with e.l.f will help take the brand to the next level. The resources and support they're bringing to the table are everything she's been hoping for." The source continued: "To be acquired and recognized by such a powerful global company feels like such an honor to her. She can't wait to take Rhode global. She also received a generous cash payout as part of the deal." ! On June 9, Rhode unveiled the campaign for its new hydrating Glazing Mist, starring Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson, marking the brand's first male model. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest an interview with WWD, Bieber said she knew Dickinson would be a great fit for her brand after she watched him opposite Nicole Kidman. 'I watched [Babygirl] and I thought it was so great. I knew for this campaign that I really, really wanted to use a male face. I'm just really a fan of his work and I just felt like there could be really good synergy between him and Rhode," said Bieber. Peptide Lip Tint in Lemontini will be available on on July 14.
