While the BTech course will have 30 seats, the masters degree will accept 18 students. Students can get admission through the ongoing Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) counselling.
Regarding the UG course, vice-chancellor Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal said on Sunday that a limited number of institutes currently offer specialised courses in aerospace engineering. "The new programme is expected to benefit a wide pool of aspiring students aiming for careers in aerospace and space science," he added.
He said the announcement of the aerospace engineering course follows the recent visit by V Narayanan, Isro chairman, who addressed students and faculty during a talk at the university recently. "Emphasising India's ambitious future in space exploration, Narayanan stated that India will be second to none in the space sector by 2040. Through the BTech course, we will prepare future aerospace engineers and scientists of the country," said Biswal.
On the MTech course, the VC said it will address the growing demand for semiconductor professionals in the industry. "Semiconductors are crucial components, serving as the foundation for electronic devices ranging from smartphones and laptops to automotive systems and industrial equipment. The global semiconductor industry is experiencing rapid growth due to increasing digitalisation and technological advancement," he added.

The introduction of the specialised programme comes at a time when India is working to establish itself as a semiconductor manufacturing hub, with the govt announcing incentive schemes for chip manufacturing and design. "The course will help create a skilled workforce to support the country's semiconductor ecosystem and reduce dependency on imports," he added.
"The development reinforces OUTR's growing commitment to academic excellence, research-driven education, and fostering innovation in advanced technology sectors. The university aims to collaborate with leading aerospace and semiconductor experts and faculty from across India to ensure comprehensive learning, cutting-edge research, and strong career pathways for students entering the aerospace and semiconductor industry," said Biswal.

DAVV's new academic session is two months late
Indore: The academic session at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya's University Teaching Departments (UTD) is set to begin over two months behind schedule, with undergraduate classes commencing from September 8. The university released its academic calendar, outlining a delayed yet structured timeline for teaching, examinations, and results. As per the calendar, teaching for the first semester will continue till December 23, followed by examinations scheduled from January 6 to 25. Results of these exams will be declared by February 1. Classes for postgraduate courses under CUET-PG are expected to begin by mid-July, while undergraduate classes, particularly those under CUET-UG, will only start in September due to delayed counselling processes. While non-CUET course admissions were already completed and classes are set to begin soon, the staggered admission schedules are making it difficult to implement a uniform academic plan across all departments.
