Liverpool players and boss arrive in Portugal to attend Diogo Jota's funeral
The father-of-three, who married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso 11 days before the accident, was killed alongside his brother Andre Silva after a Lamborghini they were travelling in burst into flames following a suspected tyre blowout in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The players, who also included Curtis Jones, Federico Chiesa, Wataru Endo and former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, arrived at the Portuguese chapel to applause from crowds standing nearby.
The funeral is set to begin at 10am on Saturday, according to parish priest at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar in Sao Cosme, Jose Manuel Macedo.
It comes after family and friends gathered for the brothers' wake on Friday, with a queue forming outside the Portuguese chapel.
The brothers' parents attended the Sao Cosme Chapel, the Capela da Ressurreicao, in the town of Gondomar near Porto on Friday, with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro and Jota's agent also among attendees.
People held service sheets featuring pictures of both brothers, the largest one showing Jota smiling in his Liverpool shirt and making a heart sign with his hands.
Liverpool postponed the return of players for pre-season following Jota's death, as a number of players past and present paid tribute.
A sea of floral tributes had been left outside Anfield, with many Liverpool fans and supporters of other clubs looking to pay their respects.
Flags have been lowered to half-mast at the stadium and all club stores, museums and tours have been closed until Monday, with staff offered wellbeing support.
Jota and Silva were both found dead after the car crashed on the A-52 in Palacios de Sanabria near the city of Zamora at 12.40am on Thursday.
Police said they were investigating the possibility that the Lamborghini left the road because of a tyre blowout while overtaking, and a source from the government sub-delegation in Zamora confirmed 'a possible speeding incident' was being looked at.
Pictures of the aftermath of the crash showed debris scattered along the side of the road including what appeared to be charred parts of the vehicle.
No other vehicles are said to have been involved in the incident.

Liverpool could save £37m in double masterstroke as 'half the Prem' circle
Liverpool have been linked with Parma starlet Giovanni Leoni, who could prove to be a bargain signing and solve a key problem in Arne Slot's Premier League-winning squad Liverpool are reportedly interested in teenage defender Giovanni Leoni, who could save the club millions in the transfer market. The Premier League champions have already made several high-profile signings, but are arguably short of options at centre-back. The club have sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as their three options in the heart of defence. Manager Arne Slot will want to compete across multiple competitions next season and a new centre-back could help rotate the team when required. The Reds have already seen former transfer target Dean Huijsen join Real Madrid from Bournemouth for £50million this summer. At the same time, it would reportedly cost a similar amount to bring Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi to Anfield. However, it has been claimed that Liverpool are interested in Parma teenager Leoni, who would cost a fraction of the price. Reports from talkSPORT suggest that Liverpool are one of at least 10 Premier League clubs to have enquired about 18-year-old defender Leoni's availability. He was signed from Sampdoria last summer and made 17 league appearances in Serie A during his breakout season for Cristian Chivu's side. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur could potentially rival Liverpool in the battle for Leoni's signature. Meanwhile, Inter Milan, who are now coached by Chivu, are also said to be among the interested clubs and it is suggested that Leoni would prefer to stay in Italy. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport has previously suggested that Leoni is valued at around £13m (€15m). It is unlikely that the Parma starlet would immediately challenge Konate and Van Dijk's partnership, but he remains a significantly cheaper option than Guehi. Leoni could benefit from training alongside the Liverpool squad as part of a long-term path to the first team. A move for Leoni would lessen the pressure on Liverpool to spend big on another defensive signing, having already recruited full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign Palace star Guehi and continue their summer spending spree, which has included a deal for Florian Wirtz that could be worth up to £116m. Palace previously valued Guehi at £70m but have since reduced the price to £50m as the England international enters the last year of his contract. Newcastle are claimed to still be monitoring the defender's situation but have yet to make a fresh approach. If no summer move materialises, Guehi could run down his contract this season, giving Liverpool the chance to sign him as a free agent next year. Palace have been unable to agree fresh terms with the 24-year-old. The combination of a potential deal for Leoni and snapping up Guehi as a free agent would see Liverpool sign two defenders for £13m across two summers. That would be £37m less than Real Madrid paid Bournemouth for Huijsen. Despite his limited first team experience, Leoni impressed when called upon last season. He earned praise from his manager after helping Parma defeat Juventus in April, though Chivu admitted that the defender was a work in progress. 'Leoni, like the whole team, must keep his feet on the ground and continue to work,' Chivu said. 'Today he played a great game, he doesn't seem so young, but he has significant room for improvement. He deserves the compliments and the MVP award but I have to be the coach and I will also point out the mistakes he made.'

Christian Norgaard's immediate demand to Arsenal team-mates after sealing move
Midfielder Christian Norgaard has expressed his desire to get forward after becoming Arsenal's third signing of the summer with more arrivals to follow soon Christian Norgaard hopes he can continue to increase his attacking output after completing a £12m move to Arsenal. The former Brentford captain arrives with many expecting he will be used as a defensive midfielder in Mikel Arteta 's 4-3-3 system. But the Dane has said his game is about more than breaking up play and starting moves from deep - having started as an attack-minded player as a youngster. 'It's developed a little bit over the years. I started as a more offensive player and now I'm a bit more of a holding midfielder,' Norgaard said. 'It's important for me that a team has a good defensive structure and hopefully I can contribute to that. "Then coming off a season where I've had a lot of goal involvements, it's something I really hope I can take into this season as well. I don't know what the gaffer's plans are with me but hopefully I can also have some freedom to join the offensive play.' Norgaard, 31, becomes the Gunners' third new arrival of the summer after goalkepeer Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielder Martin Zubimendi, taking their spending to £77m. The Dane has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the option of a third. Arsenal have agreed to pay Brentford an initial £10m plus £2m in potential add-ons. Arsenal are now pushing on for a deal to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea, with personal terms already agreed. The England winner remains with Chelsea at the Club World Cup ahead of Sunday's final against Paris Saint-Germain. But the wait for Arteta's squad to be boosted by a much coveted centre forward goes on as latest reports suggest talks with Sporting Lisbon over Viktor Gyokeres have hit a wall because of a dispute over the upfront fee. Sporting are demanding an additional £5m to what has been offered by Arsenal executives who have returned from a trip to the negotiating table in Lisbon. Fresh talks are expected to take place despite claims in Portuguese media that the move was in jeopardy. Gyokeres agreed personal terms with the Gunners several weeks ago and will sign a five-year deal if a fee can be agreed between the clubs. Rangers transfer rumours collide as Luuk de Jong shares trait with Ibrox linked star as PSV hero arrives at D-Day
De Jong is currently out of contract with the Eredivisie champions Rangers have been told about the leadership credentials Luuk de Jong could bring to Ibrox - with the Dutchman drawing comparisons to another veteran who has also been mooted as a Light Blues target. Captain De Jong is out of contract with PSV Eindhoven after banging in 14 league goals last season to help the Eredivisie giants secure a second championship in succession. The 34-year-old has been back training with the club until his future is resolved but talk over a potential move to Govan has been directly addressed by his manager Peter Bosz. And while the rumours roll on, fans have been given an insight into the kind of character the former Newcastle and Barcelona striker is on the pitch. Top-flight referee Bas Nijhuis - who has been a FIFA listed whistler since 2007 - has also compared De Jong's demeanour to Jordan Henderson, with the ex Liverpool skipper also weighing up his options after leaving PSV's rivals Ajax. Asked about Henderson on Dutch television show De Oranjezomer on Wednesday, he said: "Those types of players create a bit of a buzz on the pitch. He shouts at you a lot from a distance. He's quite active and coaches a lot. "I think he's a completely different type of captain than Luuk de Jong. "He's much calmer and calls out sometimes. That's a completely different type. But I do like players who are a bit different." One of the biggest transfer sagas in recent memory drew to a close last week with Hearts talisman Lawrence Shankland finally putting pen to paper on a new deal at Tynecastle. Shankland was previously on Rangers' radar and one former Scotland international has given his thoughts on why Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell didn't move heaven and earth to try and snap up the 2023/24 Premiership Golden Boot winner. Ex Liverpool and Everton midfielder Don Hutchison told "I really like him. I think he's a good player. "I just think it depends on what Russell Martin wants, so he might not have wanted to push hard for him. Maybe he was always interested in staying with Hearts if he could. "Martin will have in his mind a certain type of player that he wants to work with, a certain type of style. But Shankland has always looked like a good player to me. "I quite like the way he plays. I quite like the way he wears his heart on his sleeve, I think. I think he's an industrious player. It's making that step up. "We can't be sure that Martin saw in Shankland the kind of player he thought he needed to get a balanced side at Ibrox."
