SHOE FITS Charlie Fellowes gives Kieran Shoemark chance to take on John Gosden runners in pair of Group 1s in France
KIERAN SHOEMARK will get the chance to prove the ultimate point to John Gosden in Paris on Sunday.
He has been snapped up by Charlie Fellowes for the French 2000 and 1000 Guineas - where he will take on two big Gosden runners having been dumped as the stable's No1 jockey.

Shoemark, 29, was expected to ride Gosden's Detain and Zanzoun in the colts' and fillies' Classics respectively, but now he'll be riding against them at Longchamp aboard Luther and Shes Perfect.
Gosden gave Shoemark the elbow just a few days after his defeat on Field Of Gold in the Guineas last Saturday, after which he apologised for riding with 'too much confidence' in the wake of criticism from his boss.
He has faced plenty of scrutiny since replacing Frankie Dettori at Clarehaven, and his fast-finishing second in the big one at Newmarket was clearly the final straw for Gosden.
Newmarket-based Fellowes has been a long-time ally of Shoemark and he has given the jockey his firm backing.
Fellowes said: "The Gosden gig is a tough gig, there is a lot of pressure and I've no doubt he is up to a job like that.
"For whatever reason it's not worked out, but one man's loss is another man's gain.
"I'm gutted for him but from a selfish point of view it's great for me because I want him on as many of my horses as possible.
'Jim Crowley and Rossa Ryan had been riding work for me and they were in line to ride on Sunday because I thought Kieran wouldn't be available. Now he is, it was a no-brainer.
"I'm really appreciative of Jim and Rossa, they were very understanding when I spoke to them. I had discussions with my owners when we heard the news and they were keen to get Kieran.
'He is a brilliant jockey and we've got two good chances in Group 1s at Longchamp, so he doesn't need any extra motivation. It would be incredible to win a big one together.
'Both Luther and Shes Perfect are in brilliant form and I will come home very disappointed if they don't run massive races.'
Shoemark still rode for Gosden yesterday, finishing last of seven in the Cheshire Oaks on Queen Of Thieves, and he will continue to pick up rides for the yard.
But Clarehaven runners will now be ridden by 'the best jockey available' in big races and Shoemark's opportunities will be greatly reduced.
Gosden said: 'We are looking to use the best available from now on. We have eight jockeys that are retained to ride for owners connected with the yard and I haven't had a retained jockey since William Buick.
"There is no fallout but it is the ramifications of what happened over the weekend at Newmarket. We'll now use the best available rider.'
Luther, who is a top-priced 20-1 for the Poule d'Essai des Poulains on Sunday, was second to Detain on his reappearance at Chelmsford and Fellowes reckons he is capable of improving past him.
Likewise Shes Perfect, who is 14-1 for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches having finished second in a Group 3 in France on her return. She is expected to take a big step forward now.
Fellowes said: "I still am adamant Luther is one of the best horses we've ever had. We probably would have gone close to to beating Detain last time and I think we can improve more than Detain.
"He has a wicked turn of foot, he's well balanced, he'll go round the track beautifully, we just need a good draw.
"Shes Perfect is a big girl and she will improve no end for her run. I honestly couldn't be happier with either of them."

Barcelona reject Chelsea swap offer for Christopher Nkunku

Barcelona rejected Chelsea's offer of a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku, according to reports in Spain. Chelsea have been open to offers for Nkunku this summer as the French forward has struggled to secure a regular role at Chelsea since his £52 million move from RB Leipzig in 2023. The 27-year-old has attracted plenty of interest with Arsenal and Bayern Munich both making enquiries in the January transfer window, while Manchester United have also considered a move this summer after failing with a loan bid earlier this year. Chelsea have also dropped their asking price for Nkunku from £65 million to £43m. According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have also used Nkunku as a makeweight in their bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. However, Barcelona turned down the chance to sign Nkunku and opted to sign Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United instead. Fermin has also been linked with a move to United, with reports in Spain claiming that Ruben Amorim's side are ready to pay a €70m (£61m) fee. However, Fermin is intent on staying at Barcelona, while the club's head coach, Hansi Flick, does not want the 22-year-old to leave. More Trending Nkunku, meanwhile, faces an uncertain future and Enzo Maresca did not rule out the prospect of still having the 27-year-old in his squad for the start of the new Premier League season. 'If Christo is here with us, it is because we think he can help us and he can be with us even next season,' Maresca said during the Club World Cup. 'But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players. 'And then if something is going to happen, I don't know because we said many times when the transfer window is open, anything can happen in terms of players that can arrive or players that can leave.' Rangers vs Panathinaikos player ratings: 8/10 rescue act, the visionary, dream debut and drowsy display

Rangers will go into next week's Champions League second leg qualifier with the advantage after a pair thunderous strikes helped them secure a 2-0 win over 10-man Panathinaikos at Ibrox. Despite home goalkeeper Jack Butland being forced into numerous saves in the opening throws of the game, it was 18-year-old Findlay Curtis that swung the game in Rangers favour, smashing home from long range in the 52nd minute to secure a narrow win on Russell Martin's first competitive game in charge of the Glasgow giants. Panathinaikos were dealt an even bigger blow just six minutes after Curtis' strike when midfielder Georgios Vagiannidis was sent off for his second booking of the game, and the Light Blues took full advantage in the 78th minute when debutant Djeidi Gassama lashed home from just outside the area minutes just three minutes after his introduction to the field. Rangers will now take a short break from competitive action as they return to Ibrox this weekend to face EFL Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough as part of their pre-season schedule, before they head to Athens for next week's second leg against Rui Vitória's side on Wednesday 30 July. Here's how The Scotsman rated the performance of each Rangers player in the 2-0 against Panathinaikos at Ibrox: 1 . Jack Butland - 8 Saved his teammate's blushes several times, making a huge save just before the ten minute mark to claw the ball out of the corner of the net following Duricic's smart header. He then pulled off a smart reaction save when Raskin dallied in his own penalty area before repeating the trick early in the second-half. Rangers rescuer that kept them in the game. | PA Photo: PA Photo Sales 2 . James Tavernier - 6 Fell asleep numerous times in the early stages, which almost cost Rangers dear. A drowsy looking performance at times from the usually consistent captain, but improved as the game wore on and fired in some dangerous crosses. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group Photo Sales 3 . John Souttar - 6 Made a good block on the edge of his area, but was slightly slack in his passing at times. But won the bulk of his aerial duels, and tried to prompt attacks from the back. | PA Photo: PA Photo Sales 4 . Nasser Djiga - 6 Gave the ball away in a dangerous position and almost cost the team a cheap goal. Strong otherwise, and assured, even against tough opposition. Played his part in the clean sheet. | PA Photo: PA. Photo Sales
