If You Buy One Dress This Summer, Make It This Dissh Midi

Graziadaily5 days ago
As a summer person, my wardrobe goes hand-in-hand with Australian fashion brands. Being blessed with year-round sunshine, of course we can count on the Aussies to know how to create the best summer pieces. The thing is, though, sometimes my favourite labels come with a heavy shipping fee, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out one of my forever favourites, Dissh, was going to be stocked in the UK for the first time at Selfridges. Since spring, I've made the monthly pilgrimage to Bond Street (anyone who's travelled on the Central Line during a heatwave will know why this is an achievement) to see what the celebrity-loved brand has in the 'new in' section, and I can safely say I've never been disappointed. And it seems I'm not the only one, as there's one summer dress I can't stop seeing every time I go to a coffee shop, for a mooch in town or on my morning social scroll. Let me introduce you – or most likely, reintroduce you – to the 'Gabby' dress. So popular, the brown style sold out within days on both the Australian Diish site and at Selfridges, but I'm here to share the news that it's back – in all sizes. So, what's so great about it?

The 100% cotton midi dress has an A-line shape, perfect for hot weather days when you want to avoid clothing sticking to your skin. The V-neck design with gathered detail is flattering on all chest sizes, the thicker straps mean you can wear your usual bra with it and it has pockets! No wonder it's selling out each and every time it gets restocked. According to the fashion insiders I keep seeing, chocolate brown is the most popular colour in the Gabby dress. Luckily, though, Dissh has recognised the demand and has already created it in soft sky blue (the new colour du jour) along with classic white. And if you want even more good news, you better keep reading.

The viral Gabby Dissh dress has not only been restocked in all colours, there's also a brand new shade to add to the collection this month: butter yellow. Yes, everyone is still very much on the soft shade hype, so I can imagine this is going to have the same sell-out power as the brown iteration. And for another sprinkling of good news from me, there's a mini version of this dream summer dress, and it comes in all four colours – brown, white, blue and yellow – yes, really!

So chic –I would style this yellow version with jelly sandals and a straw bag for daytime and switch to red shoes and a snake print bag for after-dark.

Shop the mini Gabby dress below, along with some of my other favourite Dissh summer dresses, and they're all available at Selfridges, so you can also go in and try them IRL. P.S., I've tried on everything from jeans and linen shorts to dresses, and it's refreshing to find a brand that's actually true to size. P.p.s, luckily, Australian sizing is the same as UK (so a 10 is a 10), which makes it even easier to shop.

If a midi dress isn't your thing (personally, I'm partial to dresses in all lengths) then you'll be pleased to know the Gabby dress everyone either owns, or wants, comes in a mini version too. Also in the four colours (brown, blue, yellow and white) I tried on the sky blue style and I love how it looks with a tan.

So, I originally saw this knit mini dress on one of my favourite fashion insiders on Insta (@nlmarilyn) and I was sold by the black version. That was until I saw the white style, that it, and now I'm left with the hardest decision – either way, though, I'll be styling it with a low waist belt just like Marilyn.

Got an al fresco lunch on the cards? Wear a black dress. Plan to have after-work drinks? Opt for a black dress. It never fails, which is why everyone can wax lyrical about the LBD. But, if you want a style that's ever versatile then it's midi dress. I love the textured racer top detail on this Dissh version.

Another one I've been saving on my Insta is this Melrose pretty polka dot maxi dress. I love how the sheer dress has a removable slip – I would keep it on for dinner and also style the dress without the underneath layer to add over swimwear for a holiday look that feels different to the usual crochet beach dress vibe.

In the same shade of blue that the viral Gabby Dissh dress comes in, I also enjoy this strappy style with its pleated top detail giving that 2025 dropped-hem dress vibe we've been seeing a lot of. I'm only 5'4' so I know this would be a maxi for me, but this makes me like it even more.

The neckline on this black dress is basically a work of art, isn't it? Like I've said earlier, a black dress is one of the most timeless and versatile colours to go for so you'll wear this one on heavy rotation from here on out.

Rebel Wilson devastated by second loss months after grandfather died

Rebel Wilson took to social media this weekend to commemorate her late grandmother who passed away at the impressive age of 95 - and who joined the star at her wedding last year Rebel Wilson has been left heartbroken by the death of her beloved grandmother - just months after her grandfather passed away. The Pitch Perfect star shared touching details of her grandmother Gar's life. ‌ Taking to social media on Sunday, Rebel, 45, shared a montage of images of her grandmother - sound tracked by the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow, sung by Judy Garland. The song choice had special meaning which gave insight into her grandmother's mischievous personality. ‌ Rebel wrote: "Goodbye to my incredible Grandma Gar - the BEST grandmother ever. She passed away at 95 years old." ‌ She continued: "Her favourite movie was The Wizard of Oz because when she was a young girl she was banned by her father from seeing it for being 'naughty' but years later finally got to watch it." Rebel then revealed that her grandmother was deeply proud of her and the acting career she carved out for herself. She explained: "She used to keep a scrapbook of news clippings of my career because she was so proud and even last night was telling paramedics about me as she was being taken to hospital - recounting her glorious holiday on the Queen Mary that I had given her as a present when I had started making it big in Hollywood." The Australian actress went on: "When I was 11 she took me and my sister to America - it was one of the best week's of my entire life. We took her on SPACE MOUNTAIN at Disneyland saying 'it's not that scary Gar!' and she screamed the entire way down holding on for dear life. I'm glad her last 'big' outing was to our wedding at the Opera House." She continued: "She loved watching tennis, musicals, neenish tarts, but most importantly she LOVED her family - her children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren. She leaves behind an incredible legacy. She had a hair salon back in the day when few women owned businesses. She endured so much in her life and was always so kind and sweet. To me she is a Queen and I proudly carry her royal name of Elizabeth." And she concluded: "Love you Gar and love to all my family at this very sad time." ‌ The tragic news came months after Rebel revealed how delighted she and her now wife, Ramona Agruma, 40, were able to welcome Gar to their wedding last year. Rebel wrote in an Instagram post last December: "My sister Liberty officiated our legal wedding in Sydney! It meant my 94 year old grandmother Gar could come which was very special to us to have her included and just felt right to do it in my hometown at this glorious time of the year." Rebel's grandfather, who she affectionately called Poppy, died in December last year. She shared a photo of herself with her relative on Instagram Stories at the time along with a message stating: "RIP Poppy – 97 years young. The best grandpa!"
