USA Cricket on notice: ICC gives 3-month deadline to fix governance

The decision was made during the ICC Annual Conference, which concluded on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the ICC also awarded hosting rights for the next three editions of the World Test Championship (WTC) Finals to England.
The three finals — scheduled for 2027, 2029, and 2031 — will be held after the conclusion of each two-year cycle. They are expected to take place in June, which aligns with England's peak cricket season.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has previously hosted all three WTC finals — the 2021 final in Southampton (India vs New Zealand), the 2023 final at The Oval in London (India vs Australia), and the 2025 edition scheduled at Lord's (South Africa vs Australia).

".....the England and Wales Cricket Board have been awarded hosting rights for the next three World Test Championship Finals. The first three editions of the WTC Final were held at different venues in England, with Lord's hosting the most recent final between South Africa and Australia last month," the ICC stated in a release.
India camp hit by more injuries, Playing XI TENSION before Manchester Test vs England
Given the scheduling of the WTC cycles, England remains the most suitable host in terms of minimal weather disruptions during June.
In contrast, Australia's domestic season runs from October to March, making it less feasible.
"We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals," said Richard Gould, ECB CEO.
"It's a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games. Hosting these finals is a privilege, and we look forward to working with the ICC to build on the success of the previous editions," he added.
In India, Test cricket is not the most popular format, and if the national team fails to qualify for the final, fan turnout may remain low — even if other top cricketing nations reach the summit clash.

KL Rahul Overtakes Cheteshwar Pujara In Elite List Led By Rohit Sharma
Rahul, who is playing his 28th WTC match for India in Manchester, now has 1770 runs to his name, which is one more than Pujara's tally of 1769. KL Rahul is playing as an opening batter for India in the fourth Test against England, which is taking place at Old Trafford in Manchester. On Day 1 of the red-ball match, Rahul helped India get off to a flying start by adding 78 runs in the first session with Yashasvi Jaiswal. After keeping the English bowlers at bay in the morning session, Rahul broke Cheteshwar Pujara's record of 1769 runs to become India's seventh-highest run getter in the World Test Championship (WTC). Pujara, who last played for India in June 2023 against Australia at The Oval, has 1769 runs to his name in 35 WTC matches, whereas after reaching the 43-run mark in the first innings of the fourth Test, Rahul has taken his tally of runs to 1770 runs in 28 matches. In the WTC, Rahul has hammered five centuries and seven fifties. A total of six batters—Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yashasvi Jaiswal—have scored more runs than KL in the WTC for India. Rohit, who announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 7, 2015, is India's leading run getter in WTC. Rohit played 40 matches and, with the help of nine centuries and eight fifties, amassed a total of 2716 runs in 69 innings. He is followed by Pant, who has 2677 runs to his credit in 37 matches played so far. Pant, who has scored 425 runs in three matches of the ongoing series, needs to score at least 40 runs in the fourth Test to break Rohit's record and become India's leading run getter in the WTC. The overall record of scoring most runs in WTC is in name of England batter Joe Root. In 67 matches played so far, Root has amassed a total of 5976 runs. The 34-year-old right-handed batter, who has also captained England in the past, needs 204 runs in the fourth Test to become first batter in the world to score 6000 runs in WTC. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Pakistan Cricket Circle Abuzz With Ex-Star Imad Wasim's Alleged Affair, Wife Shares Cryptic Post
Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim is in the news for all the wrong reasons currently. His wife Sannia Ashfaq has shared a cryptic statement on Instagram amid rumours of the cricketer's alleged affair with social media influencer - Naila Raja. Sannia wrote, 'Silence should not be considered as consent or lack of evidence. I am just choosing the right time after thinking carefully.' The post has become a massive talking point in Pakistan cricket circles. View this post on Instagram A post shared by @sannia_ashfaq2 Social media influencer Naila Raja has already publicly denied the rumours. She termed it as 'baseless' and 'misleading.' A few days back Sannia Ashfaq had posted a cryptic message on Instagram, announcing the birth of the couple's third child Zayan. Interestingly, there was no mention of Imad Wasim. The post was accompanied by a caption that read: 'I carried you alone in my womb for 9 months. May God give me more strength for the journey ahead, Zayan.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by @sannia_ashfaq2 In a video going viral on social media in March, Imad was seen criticising the national team and he said that he does not feel like watching the Pakistan team play anymore. "You got to play cricket like it should be played at. This is not the right way. For me, if you ask me as a cricketer, not even as a Pakistani, as a cricketer, I watch some of the games of the Pakistan team play, and I feel I just don't want to watch it," Imad said. "Look, the interest will lose eventually. People won't come and watch cricket if we play like this. You must have seen the crowd was full in the England-Australia match (February 22 in Lahore) and how they play cricket. I can understand the solution, what I am telling you. When you go somewhere, you assess the condition, and then you play. But your first instinct is to go out there and attack the opposition. And then, if you lose wickets, then you can assess the condition again, like this is 250, 260, 300 wickets, or whatever. So, your first instinct is just to go out there and attack, not to think like, okay, we scored 250. So, like, we are way behind where the world is," he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Climbs T20I Rankings Despite 359-Day Gap, Enters Top 10 Alonside Suryakumar Yadav
In a remarkable testament to consistent past performances, young Indian batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has broken into the top 10 of the ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings, despite not playing the format for nearly a year. As per the latest ICC update, Jaiswal now sits at No. 9 with 673 rating points, ahead of several active players, underlining the enduring impact of his performances from the 2023-24 season. 359 Days of Inactivity - Yet a Ranking Rise The left-hander last featured in a T20I on July 30, 2024, making his rise all the more extraordinary. It's been 359 days since he donned the India jersey in the shortest format, and yet, his ranking has surged. This anomaly is due to the ICC's ranking algorithm, which weighs performances over a rolling three-year period, with recent matches carrying more value. Still, the fact that Jaiswal continues to climb without fresh stats on his side speaks volumes about his explosive starts, high strike rate, and match-winning innings in his early international career. A Look Back at His T20I Numbers Yashasvi made a thunderous entry into international T20s with aggressive, fearless batting at the top. Notable knocks, including multiple half-centuries in his debut series and strong showings against the West Indies and Ireland, laid the foundation for his ranking: Matches: 16 Runs: 502 Average: 33.46 Strike Rate: 161.93 50s: 4 Best Score: 84* His ability to score quickly in the powerplay and maintain momentum has drawn comparisons to some of India's finest white-ball openers. Indian Presence in ICC Rankings Jaiswal's entry means India now has multiple batters in the ICC top 10 for T20Is, alongside the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, who continues to hold a top-6 position. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma has also made upward movements, showcasing India's depth in T20 talent. With the 2026 T20 World Cup on the horizon, Jaiswal remains a strong contender to reclaim his spot, especially given his attacking approach and left-handed advantage at the top.
