A Promising Update On ‘Heads Of State 2' On Amazon Prime Video
Amazon has found an original hit movie in the form of Heads of State, which isn't in theaters but airing on its streaming platform with an array of big-name stars.
Heads of State stars John Cena, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra-Jones and Jack Quaid, as the UK prime minister (Elba) and US President (John Cena) join forces in a comedy action film that would make Harrison Ford blush in Air Force One with their combat prowess. Here's the synopsis:
The film has performed well, planted at #1 on Amazon Prime Video, and naturally, conversation has turned toward a potential sequel. In an interview with Screenrant, director Ilya Naishuller (formerly of Hardcore Henry, an amazing overlooked action movie) talked about a sequel:
'If [people] watch the movie and enjoy it, and Amazon feels like it makes sense to do a second one, absolutely. I'd love to get more of Jack in there [and] more of Marty.'
He really likes Jack Quaid:
'If it's not Heads of State 2, I will be bugging Jack to work together again,' the director said, 'because he comes in, he knows what he's doing, he's an incredible energy in terms of his positivity and the desire to not just be here and do a great job, but to go above and beyond.'

How likely is this? The concept lends itself to more adventures, as does its clearly solid viewership. That said, this isn't a sure thing, and while a number of Amazon Prime Original sequels are in development, only a few have been released. Those would include Road House, The Tomorrow War and Red, White and Royal Blue, among others. So if Heads of State 2 is announced, expect it to be in development for a long while like these other films.
Given the viewership and audience response, it would make sense for the film to get a sequel. But until that happens I would 1,000% recommend you watch Ilya Naishuller's Hardcore Henry which may lack star power, but is one of the most memorable, thrilling action films I've ever seen, and totally unique in the genre. Mary Corse Sets a Thrilling Pace Exhibition In LA
Mary Corse, Pace Gallery LA, 1201 South La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90019 June 21 – August 16, 2025. Photography courtesy of Pace Gallery One of the most thrilling shows I've seen recently is Mary Corse at Pace Gallery LA on view through August 16, 2025. Corse, who recently turned 80, has been an LA artist most of her life, having attended Chouinard Art School (which became CalArts) in the early 1960s and living and working in Los Angeles ever since. At a time when so much contemporary art is figurative, and abstract work tends to the fantastical or psychedelic, Corse's new work reminds us of the rigor, discipline, and inquiry about art-making itself that is central to Corse's practice. The Pace LA show features many of Corse's Diamond shaped works which she has been exploring since 1965. The works are shaped canvases tilted to be diamonds rather than squares and whose surface extends beyond the edges concavely in such a way that, although they appear two dimensional, the works are actually three-dimensional. The canvases seem to float in front of the wall. These subtle shifts in how the work is presented and what draws our eye, ask us to consider what is painting? What is sculpture? Photography courtesy of Pace Gallery Corse's White Diamond paintings are a rigorous investigation of perception, color, and our own interactions with her work. Some of the Diamond series recall early Russian Constructivist work, Malevich in particular. In other of her works, such as her paintings that feature a reflective black stripe down the middle, it is as if the action and drama in the work have been reduced to a single strip, The ways in which our eye and mind behave when looking at her work, adds a further dimension to Corse's work. Corse's work has also investigated light, and her Pace presentation includes Corse's Halo Room, which is a light installation, in a room of its own that interacts with your presence and shadow as you approach it, and that is animated wirelessly by a Tesla coil (Tesla the scientist not the car). Many California artists rejected Minimalism as a New York, primarily male, art movement that espoused a cool impersonal aesthetic. Instead, several California artists turned to making works that investigated light, space, or were land art interventions and that often took advantage of materials and knowledge from California's Aerospace industry and institutions such as CalTech. Cierra Ortega exits 'Love Island USA' villa following backlash over resurfaced racial slur posts
LOS ANGELES — Cierra Ortega, a contestant of this summer's 'Love Island USA' left the villa just a week before the finale of the hit reality series is set to air on Peacock. Her departure, announced Sunday, followed weeks of uproar from viewers after old posts from Ortega resurfaced that contained a racial slur against Asian people. The show's narrator, Iain Stirling, announced Ortega had departed 'due to a personal situation' early in Sunday's episode. Ortega becomes the second contestant this season to depart the show amid controversy due to past social media posts. Yulissa Escobar abruptly exited last month in the second episode after clips of her using racist language resurfaced online. Her departure was also not explained in the show. A spokesperson for the show declined to comment Monday. Ortega's family posted to her Instagram story Sunday evening following the announcement of her departure, asking the public 'for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency. 'While Cierra is not in the villa anymore, she is still away. She hasn't had the chance to process any of this or speak for herself,' her family wrote. 'But we know our daughter. We know her heart. And when she returns, we believe she'll face this with honesty, growth, and grace.' Her family said they, along with Ortega's friends and online supporters, have received threats, attacks and cruel messages on social media, noting that 'no one deserve that kind of hate, no matter what mistakes they've made.' 'Love Island USA' is an American spin-off of the original U.K. series and is airing its seventh season . The show airs daily except Wednesdays and brings young singles together in a remote villa in Fiji to explore connections with the ultimate goal of finding love. Couples undergo challenges and are encouraged test their romantic connections as new contestants are introduced. Islanders are routinely 'dumped' from the villa throughout the series as stronger couples form. The winning couple receives $100,000. The show, which strips contestants of their phones or access to the outside world, has previously asked fans to avoid cyberbullying contestants. Host Ariana Madix called for fans to stop doxxing and harassing the show's stars in a recent interview with The Associated Press. Ortega entered the villa at the end of the first episode as a bombshell, one of the first in a steady stream of new contestants who come in after the show began, often expected to disrupt existing couples and create new relationship dynamics. Ortega quickly coupled up with Nic Vansteenberghe, whom she remained with up until her departure. Her exit broke up one of the few consistent couples of the season. The couple had just announced a few episodes prior they were 'closed off,' a popular 'Love Island' phrase to indicate neither contestant was interested in exploring a connection with any other islander. 'Before Cierra had left, my mind was clear. I knew what the future would look like, and now, I'm lost,' Vansteenberghe said during Sunday's episode. Alex Cooper has millions of fans of her 'Call Her Daddy' podcast ― and it sounded like none of them were at Chicago's Wrigley Field on Sunday when she performed 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame.' Please note the ESPN-televised version, which you can watch below, isn't as boo-heavy because the sound is focused on her singing. If that's what you want to call it.
