Michael Ross' lawyer is optimistic that the new Prime Video documentary The Orkney Assassin: Murder In The Isles will unearth "new evidence".
It's been three decades since the appalling murder of 26 year old Shamsuddin Mahmood, who was shot dead while working at Mumtaz Restaurant in Kirkwall, Orkney.
The masked assailant entered the restaurant and swiftly left after firing the fatal shot, leaving onlookers in shock.
Ross, who faced questioning at age 15, managed to avoid arrest for 14 years until his 2008 conviction.
To commemorate the anniversary of Mahmood's murder, Prime Video has launched the documentary, featuring insights from journalists, ex-police officers, Ross' family, and eyewitnesses.

Ross' legal representative Aamer Anwar shared the main motivations for participating in the Prime Video production.
"The basis for us taking part in this was one, to ensure it was a balanced documentary," he explained.
"I appreciate at the end of the day that Michael is a convicted killer and of course, this is not a case of no documentary would be doing its job if it simply presented all one side unless you could provide completely overwhelming evidence, as has happened in the past. This is not one of those cases.
"But we were very much of the view that the passage of time either means that there's somebody on the island that knows more than they said at the time.

"There are people who were scared at the time, the passage of time might have taken that away or people who have a guilty conscience that they didn't come forward.
"And one hopes that those people would at this stage. That would strike as new evidence, that would be people who didn't come forward, to explain what happened, who saw what happened, who knew what happened, who knew exactly who it was that pulled the trigger."
In the time since his conviction, Ross has remained adamant that he isn't guilty of murdering Mahmood when he was 15.
'You still have someone who claims he is innocent, who has never given up that he is innocent, who is still fighting to prove his innocence.', Anwar added.
'He could have made his life a lot easier by saying 'I did it.' A lot more chance of parole then, a lot more chance of getting out earlier.'
The Orkney Assassin: Murder In The Isles is available to watch on Prime Video.

Gangland enforcers Tamo Junto warn 'accept no imitation' in chilling warning to imposters

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The crime group behind the ongoing gangwar plaguing Edinburgh and the west of Scotland has fired a chilling final warning to the copycats passing themselves off as members of their crime syndicate. Tamo Junto has claimed responsibility over a number of incidents in recent months, as firebombings, shootings and knife attacks have taken place in and around the capital and Glasgow, reports The Daily Record. The group, also known as TMJ, serve as the footsoldiers for former Union Bears Capo-turned gang boss Ross "Miami" McGill, who holed up in a Dubai bolthole after leaving Scotland. And in a final video released today, the gang has warned the mystery figures behind a social media account bearing their name that they too will be targeted, saying they will "relentlessly" pursue the imposters. The threats came in a 15-second video sent to the Daily Record. The clip features white text on a black background and ends with the TMJ logo against a camouflaged backdrop. The video brands the tmjdoesitbest TikTok account a "Fake Page". The account had posted a number of videos in recent days, naming a so-called rival and alleging attacks were imminent. We've never been on TikTok, Instagram or any of these platforms and never will be. "Social media is for snitches as we've seen over the last few months from The Gremlins and their associates. Anyone we find creating any accounts under our name will be targeted. "We will continue our pursuit against The Gremlins regardless of Operation Portaledge for many years to come. This is the final video we will be releasing. "There will never be another video created by TMJ again. Don't steal from us. Don't snitch on us. Don't pretend to be us. Or we will target you relentlessly. TMJ. Accept no imitations." Police Scotland has cracked down on the incidents - which have taken place in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bishopbriggs, and elsewhere in the country - as part of Operation Portaledge. The police operation has seen 50 suspects arrested and a number of individuals arrested, charged and remanded in custody over their alleged crimes.

Lincoln Lawyer fans should watch this upcoming drama set in the same universe ahead of series 4 debut

Lincoln Lawyer is expected to return for season four later this year or potentially early 2026 on Netflix. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Lincoln Lawyer. Lincoln Lawyer fans are eagerly waiting for the Netflix hit's comeback but in the meantime, there is another show from the works of author Michael Connelly on the way. ‌ Season three of Mickey Haller's (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) dropped on Netflix in October 2024, ending with a cliffhanger, which could mean the charming lawyer is going to be put behind bars. ‌ Thankfully, that's not quite the end of the story just yet with The Lincoln Lawyer renewed for season four a few months later, although an official release date hasn't been announced. The Netflix legal drama is based on the award-winning book series by author Michael Connelly with series four expected to be based on his sixth novel, The Law of Innocence. But while fans wait for its return, another book set in Connelly's universe, as well as Prime Video's Bosch, is gearing up to come out. Based on the author's Renee Ballard book series, Ballard is the next crime drama to be released on Prime Video. Inspired by real-life LAPD Detective Mitzi Roberts, who was also a consultant on Bosch, Ballard is relentless and smart with a strong moral compass that guides everything that she does. ‌ In the books, she works on the LAPD midnight shift and focuses on her complicated relationship with being on the force as well as her own issues. Ballard will be portrayed by Designated Survivor actress Maggie Q who got her initial introduction during the series finale of Bosch: Legacy. ‌ She teamed up with Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) to work on the Flower Girls missing women case which has been deemed as the toughest of his career. Ballard will be released on Tuesday, July 9, on Prime Video and will consist of 10 episodes in total. Q will be joined by Fargo star John Carroll Lynch as Ballard's seasons partner Tomas Laffront, as well as actress Courtney Taylor as her ex-protégé Samira Park. It has already been confirmed that Welliver will reprise his role as Harry Bosch in the drama as it picks up after the Bosch: Legacy finale. As of yet, there has been no confirmation that Lincoln Lawyer star Garcia-Rulfo or any other members of the Netflix cast are going to feature.
