Lincoln Lawyer fans should watch this upcoming drama set in the same universe ahead of series 4 debut

Daily Record6 hours ago

Lincoln Lawyer is expected to return for season four later this year or potentially early 2026 on Netflix.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Lincoln Lawyer.
Lincoln Lawyer fans are eagerly waiting for the Netflix hit's comeback but in the meantime, there is another show from the works of author Michael Connelly on the way.

Season three of Mickey Haller's (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) dropped on Netflix in October 2024, ending with a cliffhanger, which could mean the charming lawyer is going to be put behind bars.

Thankfully, that's not quite the end of the story just yet with The Lincoln Lawyer renewed for season four a few months later, although an official release date hasn't been announced.
The Netflix legal drama is based on the award-winning book series by author Michael Connelly with series four expected to be based on his sixth novel, The Law of Innocence.
But while fans wait for its return, another book set in Connelly's universe, as well as Prime Video's Bosch, is gearing up to come out.
Based on the author's Renee Ballard book series, Ballard is the next crime drama to be released on Prime Video.
Inspired by real-life LAPD Detective Mitzi Roberts, who was also a consultant on Bosch, Ballard is relentless and smart with a strong moral compass that guides everything that she does.

In the books, she works on the LAPD midnight shift and focuses on her complicated relationship with being on the force as well as her own issues.
Ballard will be portrayed by Designated Survivor actress Maggie Q who got her initial introduction during the series finale of Bosch: Legacy.

She teamed up with Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) to work on the Flower Girls missing women case which has been deemed as the toughest of his career.
Ballard will be released on Tuesday, July 9, on Prime Video and will consist of 10 episodes in total.
Q will be joined by Fargo star John Carroll Lynch as Ballard's seasons partner Tomas Laffront, as well as actress Courtney Taylor as her ex-protégé Samira Park.
It has already been confirmed that Welliver will reprise his role as Harry Bosch in the drama as it picks up after the Bosch: Legacy finale.
As of yet, there has been no confirmation that Lincoln Lawyer star Garcia-Rulfo or any other members of the Netflix cast are going to feature.

They later headed over to The Symposium night club and danced until 2am, where according to MailOnline he was reportedly seen hugging her. The club is well known in the area and is owned by Hollyoaks hunk Ashley Taylor Dawson, who plays Darren Osborne on the show. Mum-of-one Molly shocked fans last year when she announced her split from Tommy. He was later accused of cheating on her with a 'blonde stranger' on a lads' holiday to Macedonia - something Tommy has repeatedly denied. The former Love Island star admitted yesterday that alcohol and partying was behind his split from the star, saying: 'We broke up because I had a problem with alcohol and I couldn't be the partner that I wanted to be anymore. "It kills me to say it, but I couldn't. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink.' She later sobbed as she recalled pleading with the boxer to ditch the alcohol during her sister Zoe's big day in July. In heartbreaking scenes in her warts-and-all Prime Video documentary, she said: 'At my sister's wedding I literally begged him, I pleaded with him to not drink. Molly Mae admits she 'begged and pleaded' with Tommy Fury not to drink at her sister's wedding "And … it's just really sad … I don't know why I'm crying now. It's just so sad. It just affected me.' She added: 'He wanted to have a family life but also have the life of a 25 year old boy with no responsibilities and the two don't go hand in hand. 'He's never had an alcohol problem, it's just that alcohol caused problems for us. "It got to a point where I wasn't really looking forward to anything because alcohol affected it so much.' However the pair managed to work past their problems and have since reconciled. They were spotted yesterday looking happier than ever on a family day out. Molly's rep declined to comment. Netflix is quietly adding ‘tearjerking' fan favourite

Film lovers, mark your calendars as a perfect story of love and loss is set to be added to Netflix next month. We Live In Time is finally finding its home on Netflix UK on July 5, but warning, prepare for all the feels. It's a film that will make you laugh and cry, but most importantly, it teaches the audience that time is precious, following themes of grief in such a beautiful way that connects with so many watching. Starring the Hollywood dream team, Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, We Live in Time will take you on a bittersweet journey through years of love, heartbreak, and enforcing the age-old message that life is a ticking time bomb. It follows the decade‑long, non-linear journey of Almut Brühl (Pugh), an ambitious chef, and Tobias Durand (Garfield), a marketing exec for Weetabix, as their relationship weaves through love, family, illness and everything in between. Hopeless romantics will need to grab the tissues as the film cleverly explores the life cycle of a relationship, cutting between timelines, past and present snapshots of a couple's story show how their love weathers recovery, birth and death. Directed by John Crowley, the film was released earlier this year and had cinema-goers sobbing and blubbering throughout the beautiful time-hopping story. Reviews say 'this broken timeline approach is part puzzle, part emotional puzzle – and more often than not, it works', while it was also echoed that the structure mostly avoids confusion thanks to cues like pregnancy bump and baby Ella's presence. In our four-star Metro review, Tori Brazier wrote that 'it is a wholesome and touching portrayal of a relationship acted out by two of the UK's biggest stars right now. And it's the perfect movie for when you want to sit in your feelings and be taken on an unashamedly emotional journey.' Still, not everyone bought in. The Telegraph described it as 'calamitous' and argued that some emotional impact is lost when you see outcomes before knowing their back stories. Viewers praised the film for how 'intimate' it felt – 'like watching a real couple in their private moments instead of watching a movie couple sharing big romantic gestures,' wrote @meb6x on Reddit. Another fan, @literary_bonna, described the box office hit as 'a classic 'wish you were them' love story'. More Trending With a 79% Rotten Tomatoes score, critics have labelled the film as a 'powerful melodrama'. If you did end up spending your weekly budget on the cinema trip (obviously you had to get that Tango ice blast), then you will be delighted to know that you can watch this firm fan fave again and again and again when it lands on Netflix next week. Whether you want to pretend you have something in your eye or you just need to weep on the sofa, We Live In Time is guaranteed to take you on an emotional rollercoaster, so buckle up!
