Woman's heartache as husband takes his own life then sends flowers from beyond grave

Yahoo02-05-2025

A woman whose husband took his own life shortly after their honeymoon was left stunned when she received flowers from him months later.
Isabel and Christopher Coles, from North Carolina, married in September 2024 after meeting on a dating app a year and a half earlier.
Keen to get married before Christopher, who was in the army, was deployed in October, the pair tied the knot at a courthouse but planned to have a bigger ceremony in May 2025.
The bride described the couple as being 'so insanely happy and in love', and to celebrate their marriage they went to a festival for their honeymoon, as music was a 'huge part' of their relationship.
After the couple flew back home, Christopher spent 'all night' putting guest information for their bigger ceremony into their wedding website, but the following morning Isabel noticed things were 'a little weird'.
"He went downstairs and tried to get out. I stood at the front door and asked what was going on," she recalled. "He got out and started heading towards the woods."
Isabel ran upstairs to get her shoes, at which point she realized her husband had taken a weapon with him. The next morning, Christopher's body was found by his father.
Isabel was left 'shocked' and 'devastated', noting that Christopher was 'very driven and motivated', which left her to wonder if there were signs she may have missed.
"He was very hard on himself, always pushing himself. There were no signs, it did take me really off guard," she said.
As Isabel continued to grieve her husband, she was left stunned when, on Valentine's Day this year, she received a delivery which had been sent from Christopher.
She admitted she 'freaked out' at the delivery, so contacted the florist for more information.
The florist revealed then that Christopher had ordered the flowers prior to his death.
Isabel said: "They said he ordered the flowers in September because he knew he would be deployed and travelling back around Valentine's day."
Isabel shared her story online in a video which has since gone viral, and while she has received some backlash for speaking out, she's hoping to raise awareness about mental health.
The mom-of-one is also planning to run the Chicago Marathon in October 2025 to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
She explained: "Everyone wants a reason why. No one believes that a smart, handsome, successful man who has a great life wakes up one day and decides to end his life. There are people in my life that say I had something to do with it."
"I know it's not true, my husband and I were very happy. No one can change that or take that away from me," she continued.
"He obviously was fighting demons and no one knew about it.
"I'm not doing well, there's a part of me that is gone forever.
"There's still so much that I'm dealing with that make me feel like I'm re-living the moment over and over again which is very tough.
"He didn't do it to hurt me, he wouldn't do anything to hurt me. For whatever reason he probably thought that people would be better off without him."

Brad Pitt's Home Burglarized After Thieves Enter Through Front Window and Ransack His Property, Police Say

Brad Pitt's home in Los Angeles was allegedly burglarized by three suspects on Wednesday, June 25 The home is located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles Pitt was most recently seen attending the European premiere of F1: The MovieBrad Pitt's home in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles has allegedly been burglarized. The alleged burglary occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE. The suspects "broke into the residence via the front window, ransacked the location, then fled the location with miscellaneous property," police said. All three suspects are yet to be publicly identified. Pitt, 61, was not in the home at the time of the alleged burglary. A rep for Pitt had no comment. The burglary comes amid a string of celebrity home invasions in Los Angeles in 2025. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Los Angeles home was burglarized on Valentine's Day. Police sources told NBC News, ABC News and TMZ at the time that the burglars allegedly smashed a glass door or window to break in before ransacking the home and fleeing. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's Los Angeles home was also burglarized last year on Aug. 5, 2024, per ABC 7. The invasion of Pitt's home comes while the actor has been on an international press tour for F1: The Movie. The actor was most recently seen at the film's European premiere in London's Leicester Square on Monday, June 23. Brad Pitt's L.A. home torn up by burglars while he attends ‘F1' premiere

Thieves broke into a Los Angeles home owned by Brad Pitt on Wednesday and ransacked the actor's abode while he was out of town, according to law enforcement sources. Los Angeles police officials said a break-in at a home occurred around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. At least three suspects scaled the security fence at Pitt's Los Feliz-area house and smashed a window before entering, making 'a real mess' and stealing some items, according to sources not authorized to discuss the case. Pitt's possessions were tossed and overturned as the thieves 'had gone through looking for what they could take of value,' said one source familiar with the crime. Pitt is one of the latest celebrities to see their home burglarized. South American theft gangs have plagued upscale areas of L.A. in recent years. In early February, Olivier Giroud, the French striker who plays for Los Angeles FC, had his home targeted and $500,000 worth of jewelry and watches stolen, sources said. Then on Valentine's Day, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's home was burglarized. Pitt's midcentury modern home, dubbed the Steel House, is one of several owned by the movie star. He was in London on Monday night for the European premiere of 'F1: The Movie.' Last August, the FBI, working with local police, dismantled a multimillion-dollar crime tourism ring that had operated for years in Southern California, facilitating thefts across the country. Their investigation led them to a most unusual hub: a Los Angeles car rental business. The group directed crime tourists who committed hundreds of thefts across the nation — including in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties — beginning around 2018. The thefts occurred in about 80 cities in California, Colorado, Arizona, New Jersey, Kansas and Illinois and netted about $5.5 million for those charged in the case, according to the indictment. Prosecutors, however, estimated the loss to businesses and homeowners at about $35 million. The trend of South American crime groups visiting Southern California for thefts and robberies emerged roughly six years ago, and authorities have been grappling to get it under control.

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA - June 24, 2025 - A devastating new memoir by Gregory J. Blotnick takes readers inside one of the most dramatic financial collapses in recent memory. Blind Spots: A Riches to Rags Story delivers an uncompromising examination of how a successful hedge fund manager's life imploded through unchecked ego, substance abuse and crime. Blotnick's story reads like a modern-day Greek tragedy: a privileged Cambridge native and Ivy League MBA parlays his education into millions, only to lose everything through a series of increasingly desperate decisions during the chaos of the pandemic. His journey from a penthouse in Manhattan to a cell block on Rikers Island exposes how quickly success can transform into catastrophe when ambition overrides ethics. The author pulls no punches in describing his crimes and the devastating impact they caused. 'I'm not here to make excuses,' says Blotnick. 'Actions have consequences. Period.' He describes his memoir as 'a cautionary tale' of unbridled egotism, taking full responsibility for his actions while repeatedly emphasizing the dangers of letting your blind spots get the best of you. What Makes 'Blind Spots' Different 1. Unvarnished honesty: A refreshingly authentic and raw perspective, from the high-stakes culture of the hedge fund industry to the grittiness of America's prison-industrial complex. 2. Charitable impact: All book proceeds donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Critical Acclaim Professional reviewers have praised the memoir's authenticity and literary merit: 1. Kirkus Reviews calls it 'a raw, self-aware, and earnest remembrance,' highlighting Blotnick's skill in 'shifting between self-deprecating monologues to frank discussions of privilege, money, and an American criminal justice system that's custom-built to turn your warm heart cold.' 2. Manhattan Book Review awarded 4.5 out of 5 stars, calling Blind Spots'a searing, unflinching memoir of self-destruction and consequence' that succeeds as both 'confessional, cautionary tale and darkly comic reflection... a riveting, thought-provoking read that lingers long after the final page.
