FGV's inaugural mega carnival to empower settlers, promote palm oil

KUALA LUMPUR: FGV Holdings Bhd has launched its first-ever Festival FGV 2025 Mega Carnival, bringing together a wide range of exhibitions, innovations, and collaborative showcases under one roof.
The event is aimed at empowering settlers and promoting Malaysia's palm oil industry on a global scale.
It also reflects FGV's growing alignment with the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), which holds a majority stake in the company.
Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the strengthened synergy between the government agency and FGV marks a new era of cooperation and shared ambition.
"I believe that now is the era where FGV is fully united with Felda and will take us further and gain global recognition," he said after officiating the launch.
He added that the carnival departs from traditional Felda celebrations by bringing together multiple agencies under one platform.
"This is the first time we are doing a mega carnival like this, with the ministries each bringing their own energy and support," he added.
The five-day festival also highlights FGV's commitment to its MKD3 initiative, which stands for prosperity, commercialisation, digitalisation and ESG.
Organised in collaboration with the Rural and Regional Development Ministry and Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry, the event also saw the launch of FGV Edugames, a mobile app to educate youth on palm oil sustainability.
Brand activations for Saji, Ladang'57 and Gula Prai were also showcased as part of FGV's product portfolio.
The carnival runs until Aug 3 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre with highlights including exhibitions, food contests, cultural shows and lucky draws offering prizes worth over RM100,000.

The unit, which adopts the D2EI theme of Sarawak's Women's Day 2025, embodies the state's commitment to a people-centred development approach that upholds fairness in diversity regardless of geography, gender, ethnicity, religion or ability. At the Sarawak Women's Day 2025 celebration held at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here today, Abang Johari said the state government intends to strengthen women's involvement in high-growth sectors. 'This includes support in the form of economic grants, digital entrepreneurship training and start-up assistance. We have grants from the government and the state holds some influence in Affin Bank as a major stakeholder. 'We have asked the bank to assist us in investment-related efforts, including lifelong learning opportunities. This will certainly empower women more comprehensively in line with the D2EI values,' he said. He added the D2EI principles align with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, which also emphasises inclusivity, and believed these values could help raise household income and reduce poverty across the state over time. Meanwhile, Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said her ministry is working with key organisations including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the 30% Club, and the Asian Women Leadership University College (AWLUC) to further strengthen the direction and implementation of the D2EI initiative. In this regard, she said the ministry is seeking support and sponsorship from the Sarawak government to fund studies for selected individuals to pursue the Master of Arts in Leadership Development programme at AWLUC, which costs RM105,000 in total (RM35,000 per student for the entire duration). Abang Johari approved the request, stating that the funding would be disbursed through Yayasan Sarawak. Also present were deputy premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; and Sarawak State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. Felda free to steer FGV post-delisting: PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) can begin to independently determine FGV Holdings Bhd's direction once the company completes its delisting process from Bursa Malaysia, which will commence on Aug 28, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister said that this move will enable Felda, together with its cooperative and settlers, to fully focus on the agency's original mission of safeguarding the rights, returns, and interests of the settlers. 'We can proceed with the delisting starting Aug 28. This means Felda is no longer bound. Felda is a strength and can decide its own direction and provide assurances to the Federal Land Development Authority Malaysia Cooperative (KPF) so that the benefits and interests of the settlers remain the top priority. 'As soon as this matter is settled, I, together with Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and colleagues, will ensure clear guidance from the government -- namely, to make sure FGV returns to Felda's original mission,' he said during the launch of the Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D) 2025 here today. Anwar added that the delisting of FGV is a result of Felda's efficient management, and the focus now must be on ensuring that Felda's projects are implemented smoothly in line with the settlers' needs. Earlier, the media reported that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that Felda now holds 92 per cent of the shares in FGV, paving the way for full ownership and restructuring of the company. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday, FGV announced that Felda has acquired 91.73 per cent of FGV's total issued shares. FGV's shares are expected to be suspended from trading five market days after the offer for all remaining shares closes on Aug 15. - Bernama

Anwar announces RM100,000 allocation for each Felda village

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an allocation of RM100,000 for each village under the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to implement development projects of their choice. He said the approach of allowing villagers to choose their preferred projects is in line with the Madani Government's aspiration, which emphasises consultation and community empowerment. "I have prepared the allocation, with each Felda village receiving RM100,000 to decide which project they want to implement. "This is not Felda management deciding what project to undertake. Want to buy a tractor? Build a fish pond? Purchase a drone? You decide what you want; I'm providing RM100,000 for each village," he said when launching the 2025 Mega 3D Carnival (MK3D) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here on Saturday (Aug 2). Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek. – Bernama
