Limahl is releasing his first album in over three decades
The 80s pop icon, who shot to fame as a member of the boy band Kajagoogoo and then carved out a successful music career as a solo artist, is proud of the last three singles he released - 'A Horse With No Name', a cover of rock band America's 1971 track, 'Still in Love' and 'One Wish for Christmas' - and they have motivated him to release a new LP.
Limahl, 66, told Contactmusic.com: "My last three singles have all - I think they've been a really good standard with really strong videos, and I feel like I can hold my head up high with those tracks, and it's actually encouraged me to do an album.
"I've got some really great songs just sitting there waiting. So in '26, or '27, I will be coming back with my first album in, I don't know, 30 years."
The star - whose most recent album 'Love Is Blind' was released in 1992 - spent "months" working away on his new single as he blended electronic-sounding beats with the strong songwriting from America in his rendition of 'A Horse With No Name' - which Limahl has said the song has acted as a "friend" in his life.
The 'Too Shy' singer said: "I am so proud! You have no idea of the journey that the production has been through.
I worked on it. I left it. I worked on it. I left it. I worked on it. I left it because, sometimes, you just get to the point where you just can't hear it anymore.
"And then my sister and my partner, Steve, were both saying, 'Well, you've got to release this. You've got to release this.'
"And finally, after enough space, I started working on the video. And that really emboldened me. It was so much fun trying to create an interpretation of those bonkers lyrics."
Limahl took the plunge of releasing his first cover song because he wanted to "put my own stamp on it".
The 'Never Ending Story' performer explained: "Well, I've always loved the journey of having this spark here.
"And from nowhere. And then suddenly, in three months, I'm listening back to something that started here. And I'm going. 'Wow, wow! This is exciting.' Or, 'Oh, that's terrible! On the shelf with that!'
"But you know, there is a challenge in doing a cover. And, you know, one of my favourite singers of all time, Luther Vandross. He was a great songwriter. But when he did covers, OMG, they were so good, he did a cover of Karen Carpenter's song, 'Superstar', and he brought his own stamp on it.
"And that's what I've tried to do with Horse. Put my own stamp on it. initially. I thought, 'Well, I can't use a guitar, because a guitar drives the original. So I'll go. I'll sort of start electronic. I'll go contemporary electronic, and we'll see how that goes.'"

'The toenail, because there's been stuff in there. The jam. The toe jam is up in the nail, and then you pick, and sometimes it's different colours. Sometimes it's brown, sometimes it's green,' she described. Banks has been romantically linked to Canadian businessman Bélanger-Martin since August 2018. 'Tyra and Louis live together but Louis always moves around a lot for business reasons,' an insider told us, adding that he and his ex-wife, Valérie Martin Scraire, have an apartment in England, a house in Barbados, and a home in Magog, Quebec. 'Louis also spends some time with his own child in England and around the world for business,' said the source. So just clean it up with your finger and eat it.' She admitted she does the same if she finds food debris on the floor, though she does have some limits. James Van Der Beek gives heartbreaking cancer update
James Van Der Beek says his children have become his unexpected caretakers amid his journey with colon cancer. The Dawson's Creek star publicly shared the news of his diagnosis last November. 'I have colorectal cancer. I've been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,' Van Der Beek, 48, exclusively told People at the time. 'There's reason for optimism, and I'm feeling good.' The Varsity Blues star has been married to his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek (née Brook), since 2010. The couple share six children: daughters Olivia, Annabel, Emilia and Gwendolyn, and sons Joshua and Jeremiah. During his July 30 appearance on the Today show, Van Der Beek recalled the experience of discussing his diagnosis with his kids. 'I'm far from an expert, but our approach was just to be as honest as possible, as honest to the degree of their understanding,' he explained. 'They know. They can sense that Dad's having a tough day. They know if Dad's in pain,' he continued. 'By not telling them, I think you're confusing them even more.' Van Der Beek said he's learned that children are often stronger than adults give them credit for. 'Allow yourself to be surprised by their resiliency,' he said. 'When you tell them what you're doing, and you tell them the approach, they can see it, and they can feel it. And I think it's also that your journey is their journey.' He spoke about how his children have supported him through his journey, urging others not to 'rob them of the opportunity to show up for you.' 'I have [my] kids making me tea. 'Dad, what do you need?' There's been a lot of beauty that's come out of it,' he said. In an Instagram video posted on March 8, Van Der Beek opened up about being away from his family while undergoing treatment. 'I was away for treatment, so I could no longer be a husband who was helpful to my wife,' he explained in the clip. 'I could no longer be a father who could pick up his kids and put them to bed and be there for them. I could not be a provider because I wasn't working.' Van Der Beek's wife was in the studio during his appearance on the 'Today' show on Wednesday and appeared briefly on screen. Despite his battle, he said he is 'feeling great' at the moment. 'There are just so many ups and downs and so many unknowns,' he explained. 'Cancer is — I call it a full-time job.' Van Der Beek is continuing to work despite the diagnosis, having just finished filming Elle, a Legally Blonde prequel series slated for release on Prime Video in summer 2026.
