Andhra minister urges caution amid rising Covid-19 cases

on Sunday urged people to remain vigilant as Covid-19 cases are rising across the country once again.
Parthasarathi advised people to avoid large gatherings and ensure social distancing norms are strictly followed at public places like railway stations, bus stands, and airports statewide.
"Wearing masks must be made mandatory again in all crowded areas to prevent the spread (of Covid-19)," said Parthasarathi in an official press release, urging people not to become complacent about public safety.
The minister said that senior citizens and pregnant women should avoid stepping out unnecessarily, and international passengers must undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing upon arrival in the state.
Parthasarathi directed medical officers to keep PPE kits, masks, and related supplies readily available and to remain fully alert in both rural and urban healthcare facilities.
He said the government machinery is prepared to handle any emergency, with special focus on government hospitals to ensure availability of necessary medical infrastructure.
Officials were instructed to carry out extensive awareness campaigns at the village and mandal levels, ensuring that citizens adopt necessary preventive measures and understand the importance of health protocols, said the press release. PTI

Kochi: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Sunday said that the allegations raised by Dr Haris Chirakkal, the head of the urology department at the Thiruvananthapuram MCH, echoed the issues repeatedly raised by the opposition. There are medical colleges in Kerala that lack even the thread needed for stitching after surgery, Satheesan said. "Govt hospitals are without medicines and surgical equipment. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons qualified to perform facial aesthetic procedures: Telangana Dental Council
The Telangana Dental Council has announced that Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (OMFS) are fully qualified to perform facial aesthetic procedures and hair transplantation. Citing amendments made by the Dental Council of India (DCI) to the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) Course Regulations, published in the Gazette of India on August 26, 2019, the Council stated that OMFS specialists undergo rigorous training that equips them with the skills necessary to carry out a wide range of complex procedures. These include oral surgery, craniofacial corrections, soft tissue reconstruction, management of facial trauma, TMJ surgeries, rhinoplasty, skull base surgeries, and aesthetic interventions on facial skin, muscles, bones, eyelids, and ears. The Council also recalled the vital role played by Maxillofacial Surgeons during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in treating cases of mucormycosis (black fungus), where their expertise in skull base and sinus surgeries was instrumental in saving lives. The Telangana Dental Council further pointed to multiple official communications from the DCI that validate the authority and competence of OMFS practitioners in the domain of aesthetic medicine and urged the public to not be misled by statements from any unauthorised organizations or councils.
