New God Of War game is 'smaller scale' 2D Metroidvania claim insiders
The next God Of War game might revolve around Kratos' brother, as rumours escalate ahead of Sony's State Of Play.
There have been rumours around a new God Of War game, set in Ancient Greece, since earlier this year, but new details have come to light ahead of Sony's State Of Play presentation on Wednesday night.
Previous rumours described it as a 'side story' prequel starring young Kratos, although it's never been clear if the gameplay would be similar to God Of War Ragnarök or the original Greek trilogy which began on the PlayStation 2.
According to several insiders, it seems this spin-off might be something completely different and more comparable to a game like Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, in terms of scale and gameplay.
The information comes from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, who previously claimed the new project would be set in Ancient Greece. Following the announcement of Sony's State Of Play, a user on X asked him if the rumoured God Of War project might appear.
In response, Henderson wrote: 'Hearing a lot of scuttlebutt about the 2.5D/Metroidvania game or whatever it will be, yeah. Seems to be much smaller in scale than what I initially thought.'
Fellow insider Jeff Grubb also appeared to corroborate these claims, by posting a 'Yeah' in agreement.

As posted on Reddit, a number of other rumours have emerged around the title. According to Xbox Era's Nick Baker, Kratos' brother Deimos will be playable, although it's unclear if he'll be the main protagonist.
The game is also rumoured to be developed by Mega Cat Studios (Five Nights At Freddy's: Into The Pit), under the supervision of Sony's Santa Monica Studio, who have developed all the mainline God Of War games.
The project has also been compared to 2019's Blasphemous, although it's unclear if that's because of the Metroidvania element or the visual style. More Trending
While it's unclear if this project will be announced during Sony's State Of Play later tonight, the acceleration of rumours certainly suggests it could be.
This isn't the only rumour which has emerged following the State Of Play announcement. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier appeared to hint on Bluesky that a 'remaster' of Final Fantasy Tactics might show up. As others have noted, the game's director Yasumi Matsuno also retweeted the State Of Play post, before swiftly deleting it.
A PlayStation 5 port of Gravity Rush Remastered has been rumoured too, based on a prior database listing, but this appears to have been debunked.
While it's always worth taking such rumours with a pinch of salt, Sony is promising a 40+ minute show, so it should be pretty substantial. The State Of Play broadcast kicks off later today (June 4) at 10pm BST across YouTube and Twitch.

Disney World fan sparks fierce debate after making major complaint about the beloved theme park
Walt Disney World fans have become embroiled in a heated debate about the transportation at the beloved theme park. A new map breaking down the complimentary transportation offered throughout the massive resort has detailed all the ways that the 130 million annual riders can get from park to park. Guests at the Happiest Place on Earth can travel all the way from Magic Kingdom to Epcot on Disney's Monorail - a quick and easy train that goes back and forth between the parks as well as to some of the hotels. Or they can use the 36-boat transportation services in both parks as well as at Disney Springs. To get from Epcot to Disney's Hollywood Studios, people can hop on the Skyliner, which is a gondola lift system. However, the only mode of transportation that touches Animal Kingdom is the free Disney buses - and some fans are not happy about it. After the new map was released, one Disney fan took to Reddit to express their outrage over the lack of options to get to Animal Kingdom. And the post lead to a massive argument about the Disney bus system. 'I'm someone that prefers Skyliner or Monorail transportation so it's really unfortunate that the ONLY way to get to Animal Kingdom right now is by bus,' the user expressed. 'The yellow line [is] there for the Skyliner [and] could easily be extended all the way to Animal Kingdom if they wanted.' They suggested: 'Maybe even have a station at [the hotel] Coronado Springs and [the water park] Blizzard Beach.' 'Having no way to get to Animal Kingdom except driving or taking the bus is really inconvenient and it's weird that it's the only non-water park to only be accessible via bus,' they continued. 'I'm someone that I would visit Animal Kingdom way more if I could just hop over there on the Skyliner from Hollywood Studios. So why is there no Skyliner?' Many other people rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts, and discussed the possibility of Disney adding more transportation to the park. 'I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually get some sort of transit line out to Animal Kingdom, but it's gonna take a lot of money and desire to make it happen,' one person wrote. Another added: 'Disney likes to avoid guests seeing the backstage areas. They do a really good job at Epcot to minimize the amount you can see from the Monorail and it is only a few seconds right at the end where you can see backstage.' 'I just went on Google Earth and measured [a] straight line from the [Hollywood] Studios gate to Animal Kingdom gate [which] is a little under two miles,' shared someone else. 'But that wouldn't even be feasible because said straight line is right through the middle of the studios.' Others said they had no problem with the bus and speculated the lack of Monorail or Skyliner transportation was due to the animal enclosures. 'It's literally not that hard. You get on a bus and sit down,' a person wrote. 'You do realize it's not as close as this map makes it look right?' another said. 'Not to mention it would have to be routed to avoid all animal areas,' someone else observed. 'Can you imagine how much trash would be dropped in the animal enclosures?' a different user shared. 'A free bus that runs all day is pretty convenient. I would suspect that the ANIMALS play a big factor into the lack of overhead rails and lifts,' a different comment read. 'We're so spoiled at Disney, honestly. One of the best bus systems in the world and we (including myself sometimes) complain about it,' another user admitted. 'Yeah, 15 to 20 minutes from the Contemporary to Animal Kingdom on a mostly empty bus with the AC set to like 60F didn't exactly seem like a burden during our visit earlier this month. [The] bus is good. Take [the] bus,' a person urged. 'Maybe it's just me but the bus ride to Animal Kingdom is totally reasonable,' someone else penned.

'I tried to watch Netflix on my fiance's iPad but what I found ruined my life'
A woman has been left devastated after uncovering a disgusting family secret. A young woman has been left disgusted after uncovering a life-changing family secret. The discovery has rocked her relationship with her partner, mum, and young brother. The 24 year old opened up about the devastating situation in a post on Reddit, where she shared that she and her fiancé had been together for several years. The couple knew each other from growing up in the same area and she told how her partner's good rapport with her mother was important, given her "real-life Rory and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls" bond with her mum, reports the Mirror. Posting on the social media forum, she wrote: "My fiancé and I have been together since we were 17 and 18 years old. Honestly, he was always kind, handsome, funny and everyone used to say I was so lucky to have the whole package. "I felt so lucky too. He always treated me with love and respect, so this makes everything just so shocking for me. I have always had a good relationship with my mum. "It has always been her and I against the world. My dad died in an accident when I was little. My mum dated guys on and off and they were usually cool but nothing really passed the early stages." However, the dynamic dramatically changed when, four years prior, her mum, then aged 42, announced an unexpected pregnancy. The daughter explained: "Although she was sort of dating someone recently (I didn't meet the guy but knew she went on dates) it still was a big shock. She never thought she could be pregnant at her age (she had me when she was super young - an oopsie) and I can tell she was stressed and worried. "I decided to support her since she has always supported me and tried to reassure her. She then had my brother who is now three years old. I have a close relationship with my brother, I have helped take care of him since he was born and I just love the little guy." She shared that her fiancé also stepped in to help entertain her young brother, taking him out for ice cream, to the playground, and to the swimming pool during the summer months. "Nothing was weird - he was just my then-boyfriend spending time with my brother and me," she added. However, her world was turned upside down when she borrowed her fiancé's iPad to watch Netflix after her laptop died. She said: "At some point during binge-watching a series on Netflix, my laptop died and I was too lazy to go get my charger, so I just took my fiancé's iPad. I know the password but honestly never used it before. "The iPad logged in and I got a bunch of messages pinging (I guess he hasn't used it in a while too?). Anyway, this got my attention and I went to check it out and I found everything. My mum's number wasn't under her name but I recognised the number and verified it with my phone. "She was telling him she felt guilty and that I should know. He said he also felt guilty but couldn't lose me and they f*cked it up. "She said that it was unfair for my brother to never not know his dad, and that if he could live having his son around not behaving like a dad but a brother-in-law. I broke down. What the actual F!" Digging deeper, she found several photos of her mum pregnant, her brother as a newborn, and other snapshots of his early life. She confessed: "I couldn't any more. I cried for what seemed ages and I waited for my boyfriend to come back home. I wish I was one of those women who can pretend and get things together before confronting the cheater but I can't. "He came back later that night (around 11.30pm) and I just handed him the iPad with the conversation opened and watched his face turn pale. I demanded an explanation, when? how? why? and he was reluctant at first, but knew he had to answer. Apparently, a few years ago while I was away with some friends (girls' trip), my fiancé and mum had dinner together. "This isn't strange since he has been part of the family for so long, sometimes my mum and fiancé would eat together at our place even if I was busy with sports or out - I did the same with his parents. Somehow (unclear how since he couldn't explain it well) one thing led to another and they ended up sleeping together. "They felt guilty but apparently not guilty enough because they slept together two or three more times, using the excuse of meeting up to discuss how to tell me. Apparently, when my mum got pregnant they stopped sleeping together and decided to not tell me, since my fiancé 'loved me and couldn't lose me' and my mum didn't want to lose her daughter." Horrified, she ended the engagement and, at the time of posting, she had not yet discussed the ordeal with her mother. She moved in with a friend and is seeking therapy because she feels unable to cope with the situation by herself. In her confusion about what steps to take next, the woman has sought guidance from online communities. She confessed: "I feel bad for my brother since I really love him, but I can't be around him now, I just can't. "I feel like it would remind me of all those times we talked about having kids, I would be his baby mama, only baby mama, we talked about this future since we were 17 years old, so I want to puke every time I think how I was actually taking care of his child with someone else, while still having those dreams. I wanna puke." Reacting to her story, one social media user expressed: "Damn. Just damn. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Seems like hell on Earth. You've got everyone here's support and keep doing you! You're doing great already and just keep moving forward, wishing you the best!". Another advised: "The best thing to do is to get into counseling, you'll want to mentally prepare yourself for the inevitable. You said it yourself, they most likely will try to confront you at either work or when you're out and about and the last thing you want is to be caught off guard and not be ready to handle that confrontation on your own!". Another user empathised: "Omg you poor thing. Betrayed by the two people, you should be able to trust the most. They are both just so disgusting. "I can never understand when you read about mothers or sisters doing this. Your mother is absolutely vile. Lowest of the low. Your ex is just trash. "You are so much better than either one of them. My heart just hurts for you. You deserve a much better mother than the one you got. Please never speak to or forgive either one of them. Cut them both dead."
