Sajal Ali applauds ‘Pakkay Dost' for making Urdu fun for kids

Singer-songwriter Bilal Maqsood released a second volume of nursery rhymes from children's puppet show Pakkay Dost on YouTube on Tuesday.
The first volume came out in 2023 and the show's vibrant visuals and engaging narratives garnered widespread acclaim, fostering a love for Urdu and enriching the lives of countless young viewers.
Actor Sajal Ali lauded Maqsood's work on social media, penning, 'Bilal Maqsood, you are doing a great job!'
She appreciated the show's reignition of Urdu language amongst the youth, 'Urdu is a beautiful language and it's high time we stop running away from it.'
The actor reminded us that it's cool to embrace our mother tongue, 'It was always cool! Let's own it, celebrate it and make it even cooler!'
On Wednesday, Maqsood took to Instagram to promote the new episodes, 'I make Pakkay Dost for kids. I have always longed to make quality content for children and have finally gotten the opportunity to do it after Strings ended. I believe the entertainment industry has stopped focusing on children since the last two decades."
Being a father himself, the singer observed, 'Our kids are being raised on foreign content, which is out of our control. We cannot limit their screen time but the least we can do is to introduce them to shows that teach them good values, are safe and keep them connected to their culture and language.'
Expressing why he chose Urdu, Maqsood stated 'I made Pakkay Dost because I wanted to make Urdu cool. Kids and parents often run away from Urdu and I wanted to change that. I want to request all parents and teachers to make sure that kids around them watch Pakkay Dost.'
The show has been captivating young minds with playful storytelling and colourful visuals, fostering a love for the Urdu language while imparting valuable life lessons. This makes it an enjoyable experience for children and a meaningful one for parents who want to instill cultural and linguistic pride in their children.
Each episode offers laughter, lessons, and an opportunity for children to connect with their roots. The show has garnered acclaim from parents and educators alike.
In January, Maqsood announced partnership with ConnectHear to make Pakkay Dost accessible to the hearing-impaired community through the integration of sign language interpretation.
"We are very excited to partner with ConnectHear," said Maqsood. "Our mission is to bring joy, learning and cultural enrichment and create a brighter childhood for all children. This collaboration is a significant step towards making Pakkay Dost truly inclusive and ensuring that every child can experience the magic of our show."
"At ConnectHear, we believe in creating a world where no one is left behind," said Arhum Ishtiaq, CTO and Co-Founder, ConnectHear. "This alliance with Pakkay Dost allows us to bridge the gap in children's entertainment and education for the Deaf community. We're not just adding sign language to the show, we're adding joy, imagination, and inclusion to every deaf child's life.'

Jessica Alba shows off toned figure after PDA sparks dating buzz with Danny Ramirez

Jessica Alba is embracing a new chapter in her life with a focus on fitness and romance. The 44-year-old Fantastic Four actress turned heads after sharing a series of Instagram photos showcasing her chiseled abs during a scenic beach workout in Los Angeles. The post comes just two days after Alba was spotted passionately kissing her new boyfriend, Top Gun: Maverick star Danny Ramirez. The actress, who filed for divorce from Cash Warren earlier this year after nearly 17 years of marriage, appeared energized and content as she walked a coastal trail dressed in a black sports bra with white trim, matching leggings, and a casual black cap. She completed her athletic look with black sneakers and stylish sunglasses, captioning the post, 'Sunday reset.' In addition to the scenic snaps, Alba shared video clips of her workout, which included stair climbs, a light jog, and a healthy post-exercise meal. Fans were quick to notice her radiant energy, which many attribute to her budding romance with 33-year-old Ramirez. The couple was first seen kissing last weekend and later spotted on a romantic dinner date and vacationing together in Cancun. A source close to the actress revealed that what started as a summer fling is 'taking a surprising turn,' though Alba is reportedly still taking things slow. Jessica and Danny's connection marks a fresh start for the actress, who remains focused on personal growth and family. She shares three children with ex-husband Cash Warren and has emphasized that co-parenting remains a top priority. As her romance with Ramirez heats up, fans are watching closely to see where Alba's fitness, family, and love life head next.

It's a wrap for 'Behnaz'

Filmmaker-writer Abu Aleeha has wrapped up the filming of his latest sports thriller Behnaz. Starring Ayesha Omar and Dananeer Mobeen, the film aims to highlight the rich sports culture of Lyari. Abu took to Instagram and posted a picture with the cast and crew, captioning, "The camera has closed on Behnaz, one of my most layered films." The film revolves around a Baloch woman footballer, played by Dananeer. This will be Dananeer's debut on the big screen. The actor's venture into films had previously divided the internet about her suitability for the role. Some fans congratulated the actor, writing, "So proud of her. She's rising high and Inshallah will keep going higher." Others, however pointed out that the actor was too white to play an Afro-Baloch person, sharing, "Casting Dananeer in a film on football in Lyari probably based on or inspired by stories of Baloch footballers, especially Afro-Baloch communities is not it. She's the big new star but this also reeks of colourism. People in Lyari don't look like her." This will be Ayesha's second project with Aleeha, where she will play the role of Dananeer's coach. The filmmaker extended his gratitude to everyone, penning, "A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this film possible. I'm deeply grateful for your support." He took time to mention some of his older projects, "If you enjoyed Taxali Gate even a little, this movie will blow you away." Taxali Gate was a crime thriller released in 2024. Starring Ayesha Omar alongside Yasir Hussain, the film revolved around the residents of Taxali Gate who rose against the judicial system of Pakistan. The film received positive reviews for its storytelling and acting but was criticised for technical shortcomings.
