Legendary jockey Kieren Fallon tips ‘overlooked' superstar to stun them all in £1.5million King George
The blockbuster Ascot Group 1 is being billed as a mouthwatering rematch between Coronation Cup 1-2 Jan Brueghel and Calandagan.

Aidan O'Brien's runner got the better of the French raider that day but the market has Calandagan reversing the form this time.
Nestled behind them in the betting is Andrew Balding's Kalpana, who will get 3lb from the big boys.
But Fallon, who won the King George on Golan in 2002, is happy to bypass the market leaders and go for one at an each-way price, even if bookies are only paying two places.
The six-time champion jockey is drawn to the chances of globetrotting sensation and 6-1 fancy Rebel's Romance.

The Charlie Appleby-trained, Godolphin-owned hero has won more than £10m in his career and finished first in three of four races this year.
Most recent of those was his Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes victory at Royal Ascot.

Not only did that salvage what was turning into a disastrous week for Appleby, but it confirmed he loves the Berkshire track in the summer.
Fallon reckons everything points towards conditions suiting again on Saturday.

And he thinks Rebel's Romance, despite being three years older than Jan Brueghel and Calandagan, has plenty of miles left in the tank.
He said on Sky Sports Racing: "I would love to ride Rebel's Romance - he's a monster, a beautiful, big, genuine horse.
"He's coming into the race strong after his Royal Ascot win.
"His confidence will be very high."

Former jockey Seb Sanders agreed that Rebel's Romance was 'overlooked' in the market.
Fallon added: "Jan Brueghel is tough but I think Rebel's Romance, if he turns up, is going to be a hard horse to beat.
"He looks amazing, is lightly raced and is doing everything right at home.
"After his last run he will only improve, he didn't have a hard race and it was a confidence booster for him."

Calandagan finally wins his big one as he comes from last to first in the King George at Ascot
CALANDAGAN has been called lots of names over the last 12 months, not many of them nice. Well, now he'll forever be known as a King George winner after a performance which silenced the doubters in no uncertain terms. Advertisement 1 Calandagan (11-10f) won a King George thriller at Ascot Credit: Getty The horse who long seemed destined to go down as one of the game's great bridesmaids had every opportunity to throw in the towel when Kalpana quickened away and push came to shove. He could have folded like a cheap suit when asked to make a lung-busting run after the filly who'd got first run and was getting 3lb, or hoisted the white flag when eye-balling her in the heat of battle. Instead, he dug deeper than the Channel Tunnel to give his burgeoning trainer Francis-Henri Graffard — a coming force on the world stage — his second King George in a row. Magnifique. Not so the Ballydoyle tactics, which even left Graffard and winning jockey Mickael Barzalona scratching their heads. Advertisement Here they had the 5-2 second favourite in Jan Brueghel, a horse with abundant stamina who outstayed Calandagan at Epsom two months ago and for whom a strong, end-to-end gallop was vital. Everyone expected the 40-1 rag Continuous to set off on his usual pace-making duties to ensure it wasn't a tactical race. Puzzlingly, he was dropped in behind his stablemate and they ended up going a crawl as Jan Brueghel did the donkey work. It made little sense — not that Barzalona was complaining. He was on the horse with the best turn of foot, so he must have been licking his lips. Mind you, Andrew Balding's fine filly Kalpana showed an impressive burst of her own as she kicked for home at the two-furlong pole. Advertisement Most read in Horse Racing Exclusive Exclusive Oisin Murphy moved up going strongly as Jan Brueghel struggled to go through the gears as the pace lifted before she suddenly exploded two or three lengths clear. It looked for the best part of a furlong that Calandagan would be unable to reel her in but, as all the top-class ones do, he quickened once, quickened twice and was going away by a length at the line. He was second in the Juddmonte International, Champion Stakes, Sheema Classic and Coronation Cup — but he's the Chantilly shirker no more. Graffard said: 'I never had any doubts about his will to win, when he's been beaten he has had excuses. Advertisement 'He was really far back at York last year and he quickened really strongly, probably too late. He was beaten by a good horse in Dubai and at Epsom things didn't go to plan. 'I never thought it was because he didn't want to try and his jockeys have never reported that to me either. 'This is the fifth time Mickael has ridden him, he has been getting to know him and knows what to do on him now. There is no doubt anymore about the horse.' In hindsight, maybe Murphy could have held on for a few more seconds on Kalpana before committing her for home. But Balding was chuffed with the run as she continues to build towards her D-Day in the Arc. Calandagan rules supreme for France in King George
FRENCH RAIDER CALANDAGAN powered to a brilliant victory in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. Francis-Henri Graffard's gelding was bidding to keep the trophy in the Chantilly yard after Goliath prevailed 12 months ago, with his key rival seemingly Aidan O'Brien's Coronation Cup winner Jan Brueghel, who had edged the Aga Khan Studs-owned four-year-old at Epsom. Calandagan was the well-backed 11-10 favourite to turn the tables and after an incredibly patient ride from Mickael Barzalona he swept through to pick off all of his rivals and pass the gallant Kalpana ahead of the line for a one-length triumph. It is the fifth time the race has been won by a horse carrying the green and red silks, with Shergar the most famous of the those winners after prevailing for the fourth Aga Khan, who died in February this year at the age of 88. 'I am so pleased for the horse, it was a competitive race,' said Graffard. 'When the filly (Kalpana) kicked on for home my horse was still travelling well, I was hoping he was going to catch her at the end. He lengthened so strongly, he's a very good horse. 'I wanted to see my horse getting into his rhythm and lengthening his stride, when I really saw him coming I started to shout. 'He won nicely again today, he's a good horse, that's two in row now in Group Ones. 'Mickael knows him very well and he has a lot confidence in the horse. Emit to soar highest in O'Brien family battle at Gowran Park
Today's Gowran Park card will be the last chance for punters to pick winners on Irish shores before all attention turns to the west and the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Marble City Stakes (2.50) heads a competitive Flat card with plenty of betting opportunities. Restricted to three-year-olds only, Aidan O'Brien won the showpiece event 12 months ago and the Ballydoyle maestro will hold plenty of hopes again via Acapulco Bay. The Dubawi colt has scored just once in six starts, though, while Ronan Whelan's mount is 3lbs off his nearest rival on official ratings, with Emit expected to give him more than enough to think about as many of the 11 runners step up to 1m4f for the first time in their careers. The latter, trained by Joseph O'Brien, never landed a blow in a Group Three at Royal Ascot but Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount had been knocking on the door prior to that and he can get the job done.
