Ludhiana: AAP councillor from ward 58, Satnam Singh Sunny Master, joined the Congress on Friday. Ward 58 falls in the Ludhiana West assembly segment. He was inducted into the party by former chief minister
Charanjit Singh Channi
, besides Rana Gurjit and Bharat Bhushan Ashu.
Senior BJP leader Karan Warring and Paramvir Singh, nephew of late MLA Gurpreet Gogi, also joined the Congress. Earlier, Vikramjit Singh, AAP social media in-charge for Malwa region, also joined the Congress in presence of the party's Punjab in-charge, Bhupesh Baghel and PCC president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunny Master said that he was completely disillusioned with AAP after seeing it from inside.
Describing AAP as a party of "fake revolutionaries," he said that he was deeply disturbed by the way the party leadership was handing over posts and positions, which rightfully belonged to Punjabis, to people from Delhi and other places.
Karan Warring said that the switch to Congress was a homecoming of sorts for him as his family had been with the Congress for generations. Calling AAP a party of outsiders, he solicited votes for Ashu.
Channi said that for a councillor, leaving the ruling party and joining the opposition was a big step, which showed the extent of people's disillusionment with AAP. He added that "self respecting Punjabis" should come forward and ensure the victory of Congress.

PM 'shows weakness' by not responding to Trump's repeated claims on India-Pakistan conflict: Congress chief

After U.S. President Donald Trump repeated his claim — for the 25th time, according to the Congress — that he had stopped the recent conflict between India and Pakistan, party leaders questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's continued 'silence' on the issue. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said there was 'something fishy' about Mr. Modi's failure to respond even once to Mr. Trump's repeated claim of facilitating a ceasefire. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge said the PM 'shows weakness' by staying silent. On Tuesday, the U.S. President said once again that he had stopped the recent conflict which 'could end up in a nuclear war', adding that five planes had been shot down during the war. 'PM should respond firmly' 'Trump keeps saying that he facilitated a ceasefire, but Narendra Modi is silent, not responding. Does Narendra Modi want to be subservient to Trump? The country is the most important, which is why we supported the government,' Mr. Kharge told reporters. 'In such a situation, when Trump repeatedly states that he brought about the ceasefire and insults India, the Prime Minister should respond firmly. This, in some way, shows weakness.' Mr. Gandhi said that the PM could not respond as 'the whole world knows' the truth of the situation. 'This is not just about ceasefire there are big problems that we want to discuss. There are problems related to defence, defence industry, Operation Sindoor. The situation is not good and the whole world knows. Those who call themselves patriots have run away. The Prime Minister is not able to give one statement,' Mr. Gandhi told journalists at the Parliament House complex. 'Something fishy' 'Trump has said 25 times that 'I got the ceasefire done'. Who is Trump to get a ceasefire done? It is not his job. But the Prime Minister has not given a reply even once. That is the truth, he cannot hide,' the Congress leader said, adding that the Modi government has 'destroyed our foreign policy, no one supported us'. The government has agreed to hold a Parliamentary discussion on Operation Sindoor when the Prime Minister returns from his trip out of the country, Mr. Gandhi said. 'On the one hand you [government] say Operation Sindoor is ongoing and on the other hand you say that victory has been achieved. Either victory has been achieved or Sindoor is ongoing. Trump is saying I halted Sindoor, he has said it 25 times. So, 'kuch na kuch toh daal mein kala hai na' (something is fishy),' he added.

MP: Congress opposes restriction of E-rickshaws in Bhopal

Bhopal: Bhopal District Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh's order banning E-rickshaws in some selected routes in the city sparked a controversy as the opposition Congress called it an "arbitrary" decision, asserting that it would affect the livelihood of hundreds of families. The collector had issued an order banning E-rickshaws in two phases following multiple rounds of discussion with senior administrative officials and Lok Sabha MP Alok Sharma. He issued an order to ban the use of E-rickshaws to ferry school children due to safety reasons on July 19. Two days later, he also ordered to ban the operation of E-rickshaws on some selected routes in the city. The directives issued by the Bhopal district administration came into effect from Monday; however, several E-rickshaws were spotted ferrying school children in several parts of the city till Wednesday. On Wednesday, around 500 E-rickshaw operators gathered at a busy square in the city and staged a protest against the ban on E-rickshaws. However, they accepted a ban on the use of E-rickshaws ferrying school children. Meanwhile, the Congress workers also joined the protest, extending support to E-rickshaw operators. The opposition warned of a major protest if the district administration's order was not withdrawn soon. Senior Congress leader and former minister P. C. Sharma also joined the protest. He said that restricted routes should be opened for E-rickshaws. "Decision to ban use of E-rickshaws to ferry school children is a welcoming step, but banning their operation in the city is arbitrary. This decision would affect the livelihood of hundreds of families in Bhopal," said Sharma. The VIIP routes where the operation of E-rickshaws has been restricted are - Raj Bhavan to Polytechnic Crossing, Polytechnic Crossing to State Hangar, Boat Club area, and Hamidia Road. Similarly, roads connecting from Alpana to Bhopal Talkies, Apex Bank to Roshanpura, and Link Road 1. Further, from Board Office Square to Apex Ban, Katju Hospital Tiraaha to Rangmahal Tiraaha, Vande Mataram to 10 Number Stop,10 Number Stop to National Hospital, 10 Number Market to Roshanpura flyover. A police official deployed at the protest site, talking to IANS, said that it has also been found that untrained and teenage drivers are driving the E-rickshaws and that too at high speed, which makes the vehicle more unsafe, particularly when being used to ferry children. According to Bhopal police, around 12,500 E-rickshaws are currently registered in Bhopal. Though these battery-powered vehicles aren't officially affiliated with schools, many parents are using them to send their wards to school.
