Somy Ali believes in Tanushree Dutta's allegations of being harassed at home: 'Her mental health...'

Actress Somy Ali, who has always supported actress Tanushree Dutta, this time too, she believes in her after Dutta alleges of being harassed at home. Somy, who runs a US-based NGO called 'No More tears' and works to save and rehabilitate victims of domestic abuse and rape, claimed that she believes Tanushree as she has lived on the other side of silence. Tanushree Dutta's Mental Health
Somy told IANS, 'Tanushree spoke of being harassed. Of being gaslit. Of a spy planted as a maid in her home, of attempted poisoning, of systematic defamation, and of rampant misogyny disguised as stardom. Some in the media ridiculed her. Others discredited her mental health. But what few dared ask was: What if it's true? What if Tanushree's story isn't an outlier but a rule?' Somy Ali supports Tanushree Dutta
She stressed that Bollywood has long suffered from a toxic immunity culture, where powerful men are treated like gods, and survivors are treated like liabilities.
'I know. I was once part of that world. I've witnessed women offered 'auditions' that weren't about acting. I've seen women ostracized for saying 'no.' I've watched survivors suffer mental breakdowns while the perpetrators received national awards,' Somy added.
She went on to say, 'And yet when someone like Tanushree dares to lift the veil, the collective response isn't support, it's damage control. Public relations machinery goes into overdrive. Character assassination begins. Anonymous sources leak half-truths. And worst of all, the survivor is pathologized. 'She's paranoid.', 'She's unstable'. 'She's imagining things.' It's the oldest trick in the abuser's playbook.' Tanushree Dutta is telling truth…
Somy further stated that although Tanushree's claims might seem irrational, it is possible that she is telling the truth.
On Tuesday, Tanushree posted a video on social media where she was seen weeping and asking for help.
She was heard saying, 'Guys, I'm being harassed in my own home. I'm being harassed in my own home. I just called the cops. I got worried and called the police. The police came'.
'I'm sick and tired of this harassment!! It's been going on since 2018 #metoo Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya (I got fed up and called the cops). Please someone help me. Do something before it's too late,' Tanushree added. Tanushree Dutta on receiving threats like Sushant Singh Rajput
In her interview with TV9, Tanushree Dutta also mentioned the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, saying that what happened to him is now happening to her. She stated, 'The people who are after me are connected to Nana Patekar and his Bollywood associates. They are the ones who have sent people to follow me. I suspect them. People would come to the hotels where I was staying and knock on my room door to harass me. On several occasions, I was even poisoned, and attempts were made to kill me by making me ill – but I survived.'
Tanushree Dutta further said, 'The maid who worked in my house was also involved, as she used to mix something in my food. Because of that, my health kept deteriorating. I would remain unconscious for 17–18 hours at a stretch. They tried to drive me insane and kill me.'
In an interview to News18 , Dutta urges the government to provide her security. 'This mafia is huge and dangerous, and I fear for my life just like Sushant must have', said the actress.

Police verification of staff, reporting out-of-station guests: Hotel security enhanced after arrest of Patna hospital murder accused from Kolkata

In a move to tighten security and enhance vigilance across Kolkata's burgeoning accommodation sector, the Bidhannagar police, under the leadership of DCP Airport, held a crucial meeting on Friday with representatives from hotels, guesthouses, and lodges operating under the Baguiati and airport police stations. The meeting, also attended by ACP Airport and Additional IC Airport police stations, comes in the wake of recent incidents highlighting loopholes in guest verification and security protocols, following the arrest of shooters implicated in the murder of Patna-based gangster Chandan Mishra. To ensure ongoing coordination and prompt communication, a dedicated WhatsApp group is being established, facilitating direct interaction between the police and accommodation providers, revealed officials. The Indian Express had reported how the Patna hospital murder case drew renewed attention to the Shukhobrishti housing complex in New Town, where the vehicle carrying the accused was parked for 40-45 minutes. Sukhobrishti, a massive residential project, has previously been linked to criminal activities, including a police shootout with wanted gangsters in 2021. The Patna shooters had contacted a common contact in Sukhobrishti, and their vehicle was traced, which was parked there for 40-45 minutes, the police had revealed. Authorities had also acknowledged the challenges posed by the sheer size of such complexes, a high proportion of tenants from outside the state, and the common practice of subletting, which complicates thorough background checks. Apart from this, five people were apprehended from the guest house in Madurdaha, Anandapur, which exposed lapses in document verification. A case has since been filed against the guest house under Section 223(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobeying government directives, despite the owner's claims of adhering to ID verification procedures. Addressing these concerns, the meeting focused on a comprehensive set of directives aimed at bolstering security measures. Key discussions revolved around: Mandatory SARAI licensing and guest verification: Emphasising strict adherence to SARAI licensing requirements and robust guest verification procedures, including mandatory ID checks, completion of detailed guest forms, and photographic records of all visitors. Maintenance of comprehensive registers: Hotels and accommodations were instructed to meticulously maintain visitor logs and staff registers, with a strong emphasis on police verification of all personnel. Reporting out-of-state guests and suspicious activities: A critical point of discussion was the immediate reporting of out-of-state guests and any suspicious activities to local police stations to pre-empt potential criminal hideouts and illegal operations. Awareness and prevention of criminal activities: Operators were urged to maintain heightened awareness regarding potential criminal hideouts, cyber frauds, and any channelisation of illegal activities. Strict restrictions on minors without guardians were also reiterated. Enhanced security infrastructure and safety measures: The meeting stressed the mandatory installation and 24/7 operation of CCTV cameras with a minimum 60-day footage retention period. Furthermore, robust fire safety measures, including regular drills and clear evacuation plans, along with the installation of panic buttons and adherence to first aid protocols, were made compulsory. UP Woman ‘Poisoned' Husband — An Obstacle In Her Love Life. But When He Didn't Die, She...

Last Updated: Sunil Yadav was first poisoned and admitted to a hospital, where his condition improved. But his wife, Shashi, allegedly mixed poison in his curd again, after which he died. A disturbing case has come to light from Firozabad's Tundla, where a woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband with the help of her lover. The murder, which was reportedly carried out on the second attempt, brings back memories of the Sonam Raghuvanshi case, where she was accused of killing her husband during their honeymoon after multiple failed attempts. According to a report in Amar Ujala, the latest case came to light after the mother of the deceased, Sunil Yadav, approached the police on July 24. The report mentioned that Sunil's wife, Shashi, and her alleged lover, Yadvendra, have now been arrested for his murder. The duo had reportedly been in a relationship for over a year and allegedly saw Sunil as an obstacle in their way. Poison Ordered Online And Mixed In Curd The report, quoting the police, mentioned that Shashi and Yadvendra planned the murder together. On May 12, Shashi allegedly served poison-filled curd to Sunil, following which his health started to worsen. He was taken to the hospital and later discharged after some improvement. But two days later, on May 14, she reportedly repeated the act. This time, Sunil did not survive. His family performed the last rites as they were unaware of what had happened. It was only after Sunil's mother filed a complaint naming Shashi and her boyfriend that the case reopened. Investigations revealed that the poison had been ordered online with the help of Yadvendra. According to the police, Shashi may have been influenced by the case of Sonam Raghuvanshi. Sonam and her alleged boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, were accused of murdering her husband, Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. His killing was reportedly carried out after three failed attempts. In Sunil's case, too, police say it was the second attempt that turned fatal. Police Relying On Other Evidence One of the major challenges in this investigation is the absence of a post-mortem. Since Sunil's family did not suspect foul play at the time, the body was cremated. But the police, as per the report, have collected other evidence such as Sunil's clothes, bedsheets and phone call records to build their case in the court. Sunil and Shashi had been married for 12 years and were parents to two young children: 10-year-old Anshu and 6-year-old Deepanshi. Sunil worked in Firozabad and also looked after farming duties in his village. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
