International drug gang busted in Oman; expats arrested

Muscat: Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Oman for their involvement with an international criminal network in the smuggling of 50 kilograms of crystal meth, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) confirmed.
ROP said in a statement :"Following a high-level tracking operation, the Directorate General of Combatting Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in North Al Batinah Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, successfully apprehended two individuals of Bangladeshi nationality in the act."
" The suspects were found to have collaborated with an international criminal network in the smuggling of 50 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, which had been concealed on one of the beaches of Wilayat Shinas after being trafficked by sea. Legal procedures are currently being finalized against them, " the statement added.

By OUR CORRESPONDENT Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced that it is now prepared to receive and process complaints related to non-revocable direct debit instruments, in accordance with the National Payment Systems Law and other relevant legislation. This move follows the implementation of Royal Decree No. (8/2018), which governs payment systems across the Sultanate. The law ensures the protection of consumers and financial stakeholders involved in electronic payment transactions, particularly those using direct debit mechanisms. As per the ROP, complaints can be submitted at any police station across the various governorates of Oman. The initiative is intended to enhance financial accountability and protect the rights of individuals and businesses in line with national payment regulations. This step reinforces Oman's commitment to secure financial systems and the rule of law, particularly in the growing area of digital and automated payments.
