Country Comeback Story Drew Baldridge Finds Himself on the Cusp of Another No. 1 with 'Tough People' (Exclusive)

Yahoo23-04-2025
Drew Baldridge's latest single, "Tough People," is currently circling the Top 10 on the Mediabase charts
He became the first self-released artist to hit No. 1 on the country charts last year
Now, Baldridge is gunning for a second shot at the top spot
Country music's rising star Drew Baldridge currently finds himself on the cusp of perhaps another No. 1 hit with his current Top 15 single 'Tough People.' And certainly, he has Luke Combs to thank.
"Luke recorded 'Tough People' first,' Baldridge remembers in a recent interview with PEOPLE about the impactful song he wrote alongside Combs, Adam Sanders and Jordan Walker that was released last October. "I was looking for a second single and I had always loved 'Tough People,' but I just felt like the song was already his."
Nevertheless, Baldridge decided to call the two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year anyway. "I remember Luke saying, 'Dude, you wrote it, and you should sing it,'" recalls Baldridge. "'It's your song and I'll root you on all the way to No. 1.'"
And that is now looking like the trajectory that 'Tough People' is going to take — and Combs knows it.
"I saw him in Nashville when 'Tough People' had just reached the Top 15 and I thanked him and he was like, 'Shut up, man,' Baldridge, 32, recalls with a laugh of the moment he shared with Combs while out on tour with Cody Johnson. "He said, 'Don't say thank you. This is your moment. This is your song. I'm so happy for you.' And he was so kind. And it's just been another one of those things where you see why when you take a chance on yourself, you never know what might happen."
He draws in a deep breath.
"It's just been the roller coaster of a ride for me for the last 18 months,'"continues Baldridge, who also launched The Tough People Fund earlier this year to "highlight those individuals, families and communities that are experiencing the toughest of times." "Being in town for 13 years and being at the point of giving up … to scoring a No. 1 record."

Indeed, Baldridge's first No. 1 hit "She's Somebody's Daughter" catapulted the Illinois native to new heights not only in the eyes of fans, but perhaps more importantly, within the country music industry as a whole.
"Picking the second single was almost harder than picking the first, because I wanted to make sure I didn't end up a one-hit wonder," Baldridge says quietly. "I love 'She's Somebody's Daughter,' but I didn't want to be the 'She's Somebody's Daughter' guy forever. I wanted to be more than that."
Having become the first self-funded artist to reach No. 1 on country radio with their debut single, Baldridge's newfound fame not only left him in awe of what he had accomplished, but all that he and his wife Katherine had accomplished together.
"A lot of people don't realize how many sacrifices she had to make and how big of the story that she was," says Baldridge of his wife of almost four years, with whom he shares a 2-year-old son, Lyric Lee. "I was running a label and booking my shows and doing this all alone. And she was almost like a single parent sometimes because I was gone so much. She was drained. But she stayed with me through all of that and supported me. It takes a special partner in your life to do the life that we have."

It's also taken the love of Baldridge's fans to get him to where he stands today — especially the fans who stuck by him long before he found himself as a constant on the country music charts.
"Awhile back, I went around the country and played all of these people's backyards and it was those people that kept me going," Baldridge remembers. "It wasn't Nashville, and it wasn't radio in that moment. It was the actual people I was making music for. That's when everything changed. I realized that I was making music for real hearts and souls."
And it's those stories that Baldridge says he hopes to continue to tell.
"We're all struggling,' concludes Baldridge, who will head out on the road this summer with fellow country music hitmaker Bailey Zimmerman on his New to Country tour. "But let's put a light on these tough times that we're going through. We're all tough people. We all have a scar. We all have a story, and I think that's what I want my music to say."

Pete Davidson Admits He Was Concerned About Not Being a 'Very Good' Comedian After Getting Sober

Pete Davidson worried his comedic chops weren't up to snuff after getting sober. When asked if there difference in performing standing since getting sober on the July 22 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Saturday Night Live alum, 31, was quick to respond, 'Oh, yeah.' 'That's what I was nervous about because I was like maybe I'm not very good, or maybe I was so high, I thought I was good,' he admitted. Host Jimmy Fallon teased, 'You were like, 'I want to see if I really did this?' I have pictures, but I don't know.' The comedian — who stars in the new movie, — revealed his concerns were unfounded. 'I'm weirdly sharper and more aware, so it's more fun,' he shared. 'Enjoying it more,' Fallon added, to which Davidson said, 'Yeah, when people laugh, you feel it as opposed to just sitting… so high, sitting there.' In January, a source told PEOPLE that Davidson had 'been sober since September [2024], and gained twenty pounds.' 'Things are going really well for him,' the insider said, adding, 'Things are heading in the right direction.' Davidson previously checked into a wellness facility in July 2024 after also seeking treatment to address issues related to PTSD and borderline personality disorder in 2023. The source added Davidson has spent $200,000 to undergo the process of having his multiple tattoos removed from his body as part of his transformation. 'He just woke up one day and wanted them gone, and it's been a years-long process,' the source said of the procedure. During an appearance on Today the same month, Davidson — who started the long-term journey of removing his tattoos in 2020 — explained that his decision to get sober fueled his desire to change his appearance. "I got sober and I saw myself in the mirror and I was like, 'Nah. Who that?' I was like, 'I got to change it up a little bit.'" Davidson and his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt announced another major change coming in their lives: the pair are expecting their first child. Hewitt shared a series of snapshots on Instagram, including a couple of shots of her with the 31-year-old comedian, a sonogram snap and memes from Love Island USA's latest season and Spongebob Squarepants. She also included a clip of the moment the couple saw their little one. "Welp now everyone knows we had sex," she joked. A source previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair were dating in March after they were spotted together in Palm Beach, Florida. In photos of their beach date, the couple was seen swimming in the ocean and sharing a smooch in the water. Two months later, an insider told PEOPLE that the couple moved in together. "Pete and Elsie have been living together in New York for the past few months," the source revealed in May. "They're splitting their time between Pete's house in upstate New York and a brownstone they recently started renting in Brooklyn." "They're so happy together and doing great," the insider added. Ozzy Osbourne Breaks Silence On Dream Collaboration As Farewell Gig Looms

Ozzy Osbourne has only one wish to round up his iconic career! The English singer doubled down on his lifelong dream of collaborating with Paul McCartney as he prepares to close a significant chapter in his musical career. Ozzy Osbourne, alongside the rest of the "Black Sabbath" musical group, is in the final phase of planning for their final show slated for Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Ozzy Osbourne Recalled Asking Paul McCartney To Play On One Of His Songs The singer did not hesitate to identify Paul as the top name on his list of dream collaborators despite feeling a bit of reluctance from the "Four Five Seconds" singer. Ozzy opened up on his SiriusXM "Ozzy Speaks" show, where he spoke about one of his meetings with the legend in 2001. He described Paul as a really nice man and stressed how honorable it would be for them to work together. According to PEOPLE, the 76-year-old previously admitted that he once begged the musician to feature his bass guitar on one of his songs. He described meeting him in the studio as a "phenomenal" event and then noted that Paul refused to add his touch to the track on the basis that the guitar already sounded good. There is always something blocking the talents from hopping on a project together. Hopefully, Ozzy listens to his co-host, Billy Morrison, who advised him to "manifest" the collab. The Former Boy Band Singer Enjoys His Family's Full Support For The Final Show The English musician is reportedly fully aware that this show might as well be his last, and he is going all out to make things perfect. Last year, The Blast shared that his family has also fallen in line with his dreams despite their initial reluctance due to his declining health. They reportedly hinged their support on medical clearance from the doctor, after which they will help make his wish a reality. An insider noted that Ozzy frequently discusses the farewell show alongside his "Black Sabbath" bandmates, which suggests it is not one of his random ideas. "…So even though it may seem like a herculean task given his health troubles, his family and friends are pulling together to make it happen for him," the source added. Ozzy's Show Will Be The Group's First Performance In Two Decades The songwriter's upcoming show is also a reunion for him and former bandmates, including Tony Lommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. It will be their first performance in 20 years as a group. Butler disclosed in an interview that the artist looked forward to taking over the stage one last time as they did back in the day. "And he suggested, at his very final concert, for the four of us to get up on stage and maybe do three or four songs together. And that would be it, finished," Butler clarified. The singer's former bandmate acknowledged his health issues and noted that the idea of the four of them coming together for the final performance is a source of motivation for the 79-year-old. The Rockstar's Wife Is Working To Make The Show Smooth Sailing Ozzy's better half, Sharon Osbourne, is also in on the plan to raise the roof of Birmingham. The Blast reported that Sharon is holding things down in the health department by ensuring her husband follows all the medical advice. She is reportedly putting things in place to ensure his physical and mental health remains in good shape for the performance. They will also arrive in the UK via a private jet with Ozzy's team of doctors on standby to handle any medical emergencies. Sharon is reportedly unwilling to compromise on these strict guidelines. Ozzy is currently battling Parkinson's disease, which means it is a miracle that he will stand and perform alongside the boys. Despite the potential health risks that may follow that level of stress, the singer is reportedly willing to take his chances. Ozzy Osbourne Reportedly Explores His Mogul Side With DNA Beverage Line Last week, The Blast reported that the 'Paranoid' singer launched a limited-edition beverage brand called "Infinite Ozzy." The canned $450 beverages come as Ice Teas containing Ozzy's DNA. The products reportedly came in just 10 pieces, which have all now been sold out. During the promotional campaign for the brand, the production company released a trailer on its website. Ozzy could be seen enjoying a gulp from the can in the video and then crushing them for sampling and analysis. The drinks reportedly contained the singer's saliva, and he finished off the packaging with a handwritten signature. "Now, once technology and federal law permits, you can replicate Ozzy and enjoy him for hundreds of years into the future," the voice-over in the trailer declared. ‘Little People, Big World' Star Announces Shocking Split

'Little People, Big World' Star Announces Shocking Split originally appeared on Parade. Little People, Big World patriarch Matt Roloff shocked fans of the TLC show on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, by announcing the end of his 8-year relationship with fiancée Caryn Chandler. "I have some tough news to share," he wrote in the unexpected announcement. "Caryn and I have decided to part ways and end our engagement." He added that "life's a continued journey" and that he believes this is the "right step" for them right now. He also assured fans that they "remain amicable and will always appreciate the many wonderful memories we have shared." Roloff concluded by thanking fans for their support and adding that he was determined to "move forward with positivity and trust." The duo began dating in 2017, following Roloff's 2016 divorce from longtime wife Amy Roloff, with whom he welcomed kids Jacob, Molly, and twins Jeremy and Zach. Fans got to know Chandler as she started starring on Little People, Big World alongside the family. Roloff and Chandler got engaged in April 2023, when the Roloff Farms owner popped the question in the backyard of their shared Arizona home. "After six wonderful years together, I asked Caryn to marry me and she said yes!" Roloff told People at the time. 'You said to me, 'I've thought about this a lot for a long time and I want to grow old with you,' Chandler recalled of the special moment. 'That's what he said, and then I started to cry.' "Our plan is to enjoy our engagement, and we are looking forward to a simple but elegant wedding in 2024," Roloff added. However, the nuptials didn't come in 2024, and fans began to wonder what was causing the delay. When the duo posted a rare selfie together in April 2025, many commented asking for details about the wedding. "Did you guys ever tie the knot?" asked one fan, while another quipped, "When are you going to marry her?!" A third added, "Glad to see you are still together." The end of their relationship may align with the end of another era - filming for LPBW. With no news of the show being renewed for a 26th season, fans began to speculate that season 25 may be their last. A recent cryptic post from Roloff only added fuel to that fire. "So many of you have never really seen inside [our barn] … why?" he asked alongside a photo of the iconic big red barn on their family farm. "Because the past 21 years, the film crew used it as their home base. Soon I'll arrange a video tour inside." Fans wondered if the reason they could see inside was because it's no longer being used by production. "Is the show over? I've been waiting for the next season!! I love seeing your life with Caryn," said one fan, with another asking, "Is the show not coming back?" Fans will have to wait and see. Chandler has yet to comment on the split.
