'This Is Just The Start': Luka Doncic's Wild Transformation Underlines Thirst For NBA Success With Lakers
Doncic, 26, has committed to rigorous workouts, transforming himself for the upcoming season. He is also expected to sign a four-year extension with the Lakers.
Luka Doncic, at just 26, has already built a Hall of Fame resume: five All-NBA First Team selections, 82 career triple-doubles (seventh all-time).
Yet, one narrative has lingered — his fitness.
For years, despite his elite production, Doncic's physique drew more attention than his stat lines. Critics pointed to his offseason weight fluctuations, and last August, he was publicly criticized for looking 'fat" during a charity game. When the Mavericks traded him to the Lakers in February, whispers followed — stories about his off-court habits, including beer, hookah, and even speculation that he was on Ozempic.
But this summer, the conversation has changed — dramatically.
Doncic spoke candidly to Men's Health's, revealing that he launched straight into two-a-day workouts the moment the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Minnesota.
'Obviously, I'm very competitive. This summer was just a little bit different, you know. It kind of motivated me to be even better."
The Slovenian star also admitted he didn't fully grasp the demands of the NBA during his early years, which ultimately led to his fitness declining over the initial years.
'When I came to the NBA, I was 18," he said. 'Honestly, I didn't know what to expect those first four or five years. Then I said, 'I need to do this.'"
'Especially in the NBA, you travel almost all the time. You're never home," he explained. 'And for me, you know, after the season, going back home, it's a big thing. I see my friends, my family, I see everybody. So it's not easy for sure."
But now, Doncic is embracing the challenge. His approach to fitness is no longer reactive — it's foundational.
'Obviously, be the best that I can be, take care of myself," he said. 'This year, with my team, I think we did a huge step. But this is just the start, you know. I need to keep going. Can't stop."
Lakers Betting Big on a Revitalized Star
With LeBron James nearing the twilight of his career, the Lakers are entering a new era — one with Doncic as the centerpiece. And they're backing that vision with long-term commitment.
According to recent reports, Doncic is expected to sign a four-year contract extension with the Lakers when he becomes eligible on August 2.
Now, along with his newfound dedication to fitness, the Lakers will be more than happy to blindly sign who they perceive to be the face of their franchise (and the league) for years to come.

Who is Maziar Mike Doustdar? Novo Nordisk names new CEO to tackle ‘market challenges'
Danish drug-making company Novo Nordisk has named Mazir Mike Doustdar as its new Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday. The company, known for its blockbuster diabetes and weight-loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, made this announcement alongside lowering its earnings forecasts again. Doustdar, an executive in the company for over three decades, has been given the responsibility to tackle "recent market challenges". Maziar Mike Doustdar has been working with Novo Nordisk since 1992. He started working in the company as an office clerk. However, he quickly rose through the ranks and became a key figure in the company's core business. He holds a BA in International Business from Webster University, Vienna (1994), and later went on to pursue an executive education from the Harvard Business School, specialising in Leadership & Strategy for Pharmaceutical & Biotech (2012). Doustdar currently lives in Switzerland with his wife and younger son who are both Dutch citizens. He also has an elder son who lives in Scotland for his higher education. Novo Nordisk announced the departure of its chief executive Lars Fruergaard in May this year, citing "market challenges" as the reason. Fruergaard's position will be replaced by Maziar Mike Doustdar, who is currently serving as the company's vice president for international operations, reported AFP. In his current role, he leads almost 20,000 employees across five regions. Other than being an executive at Novo Nordisk, Doustdar also serves on Orion Corporation's board and the International Community School in Zurich's Board of Trustees. "We are confident that he is the best person to lead Novo Nordisk through its next growth phase," board chairman Helge Lund said. Further explaining the 'market challenges,' which prompted the departure of the former CEO, Lund added that "The market is developing rapidly, and the company needs to address recent market challenges with speed and ambition."

Manoj Tiwary Against India-Pakistan Match In 2025 Asia Cup: 'How Can We...'
Last Updated: Former cricketer Manoj Tiwary opposes the India-Pakistan match in the 2025 Asia Cup due to recent terrorist attacks. The tournament runs in UAE from September 9-28. On Tuesday, former cricketer Manoj Tiwary expressed his opposition to the scheduled India-Pakistan match in the 2025 Asia Cup, which begins in September. His comments followed the announcement by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that the Men's Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, with the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match set for September 14. Speaking to ANI, Tiwary said, 'I am against it. The India-Pakistan match should not be held. Especially after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which civilians have been killed. After that, Operation Sindoor has taken place." Group A in the Asia Cup includes India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. Tiwary believes the India-Pakistan match shouldn't occur in such circumstances. 'The situation was so bad, how can we think of an India-Pakistan match? I feel that it should be reconsidered and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment," he told ANI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stern warning to Pakistan from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, stating that if they dare to act against India, they will receive a fitting response, as India's Operation Sindoor is still ongoing. Regarding this, Tiwary commented on PM Modi's statement, noting that since Operation Sindoor is still underway, scheduling a match against Pakistan seems illogical. 'Our Prime Minister is saying that Operation Sindoor is still going on… How can we play a match with Pakistan?" Tiwary asked. Meanwhile, the tournament opener between Afghanistan and Hong Kong is set for September 9. India will begin their campaign against UAE on September 10, with the high-voltage game against Pakistan scheduled for September 14. India will play their final group stage match against Oman on September 19. Following the group stage, the tournament will advance to the Super 4, where the top two teams from each group will qualify. The final is scheduled for September 28. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
