J&K: 3 yatris among four injured in Anantnag road accident
After the Yatra began on July 3, nearly 80,000 pilgrims have had darshan at the holy Amarnath cave shrine.
Officials said the accident took place this morning near Chandanwari when a taxi skidded off the road, leaving three yatris and the driver injured.
'All four received minor injuries,' officials said.
The three injured yatris were residents of Gujarat.
Two days ago 36 Amarnath pilgrims suffered minor injuries when five buses slammed into each other at Chanderkoot, along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district.
This year's annual Amarnath Yatra started on July 3 from the twin tracks — the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

Safe completion of Kanwar Yatra govt's top priority, say CS, DGP
1 2 Lucknow: Chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and DGP Rajeev Krishna on Tuesday said that successful completion of Kanwar Yatra is the top priority of the state govt and directed senior officials of all the divisions to coordinate with other states to ensure "grand and safe completion of the yatra". The chief secretary directed officials to ensure the availability of basic amenities like drinking water, food, cleanliness, and security for 'kanwariyas'. "Officials should ensure no unauthorised person enters the camps and ban on single-use plastic should be enforced," he said. The food department officials were instructed to arrange for quality checks of food items in hotels, dhabas, and camps to prevent incidents like food poisoning. The chief secretary issued stern warnings against vigilante behaviour, especially those conducting unauthorised checks at eateries and roadside 'dhabas' on the 'kanwar' route in the name of religious sentiments. "No group or individual has the authority to check food at any hotel or 'dhaba'. This responsibility lies solely with the food safety department," he said. Public works department and NHAI officials were directed to repair roads on the Yatra route, while the electricity department was directed to fix electrical wires and poles on the route to prevent any untoward incident. Electric poles would be covered with polythene, and transformers would be barricaded. "Vulgar and obscene songs should not be played on DJ Kanwar," the chief secretary said. "Camps should be set up at a designated distance from the road. Health check-ups should be conducted for 'kanwariyas' on the route. All pilgrims should carry their identification documents. Arrangements should be made to prevent 'kanwariyas' from travelling on train roofs, and crowd management measures should be implemented on railway platforms for the safety of devotees," Singh said. The DGP said strict restrictions should be imposed on the sound levels of DJs, declaring that no music system will be allowed to exceed 75 decibels. "Large DJ set ups will be restricted to city bypasses, and will not be allowed inside urban areas," he said. The DGP also directed strict drone surveillance, route diversions and close monitoring of anti-social elements along the kanwar yatra routes.

UP: QR code feedback system launched for Kanwar Yatra in interstate meeting
Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 8 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh administration held an interstate meeting with Haryana officials on Tuesday in a major step to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra. The administration launched QR codes to enhance transparency and accountability at food stalls and dhabas on the Kanwar route. The meeting was attended by the UP Director General of Police, Chief Secretary, and top officers from both states to coordinate efforts for smooth and secure conduct of the pilgrimage. As part of the safety drive, the Food and Logistics Department inspected several shops and food outlets along the Faizabad Road route in Lucknow. Officials destroyed expired food products on the spot and warned vendors against selling substandard items. Pilgrims will now be able to scan the codes and give feedback on food quality using a mobile application. A large number of Kanwariyas travel through Faizabad Road in Lucknow to perform Jalabhishek at temples in Ayodhya, making the route one of the busiest during the Yatra. In light of this, authorities have implemented strict food safety measures. According to officials, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department directed all districts to ensure that every food outlet operating on the Kanwar Yatra route holds a valid license or registration. These outlets were instructed to display their registration certificates and Food Safety Display (FSD) Boards prominently for public visibility. 'Expired and unsafe food items found during inspections were destroyed immediately to ensure that no harmful products are served to devotees,' the official said. The administration also announced that random checks will continue throughout the Yatra period to ensure compliance with safety regulations and that food and water served to pilgrims remain hygienic and safe. A day earlier, CM Adityanath reviewed the preparations for the Kanwar Yatra. He conducted a comprehensive aerial survey of the entire Yatra route from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad to Bijnor. During the inspection, he issued clear and strict instructions to officials to ensure seamless arrangements, security of devotees, and full respect for their religious sentiments. The Chief Minister placed special emphasis on maintaining the sanctity of the pilgrimage, ensuring that the faith and enthusiasm of lakhs of devotees remain undisturbed. Kanwar Yatra: Traffic diversions to come into effect from July 10 night
In view of the Kanwar Yatra, an elaborate traffic diversion plan has been prepared by police in Meerut to manage the anticipated surge in pilgrim movement. The plan will come into effect from the night of July 10, with a complete ban on the entry of heavy vehicles into city limits and strict traffic management protocols to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage, officials said. To oversee the entire Yatra operation, DIG Kalanidhi Naithani, in a meeting with additional state radio officer Vinod Kumar Singh, directed all districts to report updates every hour to the Range Control Room. (HT Photo) According to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vipin Tada, one lane will be exclusively dedicated to Kanwariyas, while the other will be used for light vehicular movement. Several key highways and intercity routes, especially those connecting Delhi, Uttarakhand, and western U.P. districts will operate under rerouted traffic systems to avoid congestion and accidents. To oversee the entire Yatra operation, DIG Kalanidhi Naithani, in a meeting with additional state radio officer Vinod Kumar Singh, directed all districts to report updates every hour to the Range Control Room. The CCTV Control Room and Dial-112 Control would remain in continuous contact, with coordination from the Integrated Command Centre, he said. Rapid deployment units, including sector/zonal police teams, mobile squads, quick response teams (QRTs), and ambulance units have been instructed to respond instantly to any alerts or emergencies. Naithani confirmed the deployment of 263 four-wheelers and 288 two-wheelers across different districts as mobile response units for the Kanwar route. There will be 115 four-wheelers and 55 two-wheelers in Meerut, 78 four-wheelers and 102 two-wheelers in Bulandshahr, 48 four-wheelers and 72 two-wheelers in Baghpat, and 22 four-wheelers and 59 two-wheelers in Hapur.
