Mets' pitcher Kodai Senga makes Double-A rehab start
Senga, who has been out since straining his right hamstring while covering first base on June 12, struck out four and walked two across 3⅔ innings for Binghamton. He threw 68 pitches and gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits against Hartford.
The Mets lost 14 of the next 17 games after Senga landed on the injured list. New York rebounded, however, and has won four straight, including two against the Yankees.
Senga, who has gone 20-10 with a 2.53 ERA and 281 strikeouts in three seasons with the Mets, could reportedly return to the big-league club just before the All-Star break.
A 2023 All-Star, Senga is 7-3 in 13 starts this season with a 1.47 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 73⅔ innings.

Senga allowed four runs — three earned — and six hits in 3 2/3 innings during Saturday's minor league injury rehabilitation start for Double-A Binghamton at Hartford. Senga struck out four, walked two and threw 44 of 68 pitches for strikes. 'Physically he feels fine,' manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday before the Mets concluded their three-game series against the Yankees. 'So we'll see how today, tomorrow, how they go and hopefully he's making a start for us next time.' Senga was injured covering first base on a grounder by CJ Abrams when he made a leaping catch on Pete Alonso's throw June 12 against Washington. Senga is 7-3 with a 1.47 ERA in 13 starts this season for the Mets, whose starters had a major league-best 2.78 ERA at the time of his injury. The Mets lost 14 of 17 after Senga's injury, then won four straight with a patchwork rotation that included two openers and Justin Hagenman's first big league start. 'He's a big part of this team,' Mendoza said of Senga. 'He's a big part of the rotation. After Ohtani throws two scoreless frames, Astros use 4-run third to top Dodgers
Yainer Diaz hit a home run and Framber Valdez recovered from a wobbly start as the visiting Houston Astros followed a blowout victory Friday with a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. Shohei Ohtani made his fourth start of the season for the Dodgers and went two scoreless innings on 31 pitches. Left-hander Justin Wrobleski (4-3) followed by allowing five runs (four earned) over 4⅔ innings. Zack Short had a two-run double in a four-run third inning as the Astros had no problem finding more offense one day after an 18-1 victory in L.A. Valdez (10-4) gave up four runs on seven hits over six innings with seven strikeouts to hold off the Dodgers, who lost consecutive games for the first time since June 6 and 7. Houston's Josh Hader finished the eighth and completed the ninth as well for his 25th save. Mookie Betts and Miguel Rojas each hit home runs for the Dodgers, who had won 15 of 18 games before Houston arrived in town. The Dodgers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, getting a home run from Betts in the first inning, his 11th, before Rojas made it 2-0 in the second on an RBI single. Betts' home run was his second in three games after not hitting one in 20 consecutive contests. With Ohtani no longer on the mound in the third inning, the Astros went to work on Wrobleski. Betts, though, was thrown out trying to take third base on the miscue. The Astros padded their lead to 6-4 in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to left field by Victor Caratini.
