India's schedule for their men's and women's tour of England next year has been announced, with the men's team to play solely limited overs cricket and the women's side playing three T20Is and a Test. The men's white-ball tour will consist of five T20Is and three ODI, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Thursday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed the same and it potentially means that veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could tour England one last time, with the pair having retired from Tests and T20Is.
The women's tour starts first with the first T20I set to be played at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground in Chelmsford. Bristol will host the second T20I on May 30 and the series ends in Taunton on June with the third T20I. The standalone Test will then be hosted at Lord's from July 10.
The men's five-match T20I tour starts at Chester-le-Street on July 1, followed by the second T20I in Manchester at Old Trafford on July 4. The third T20I will be played at Trent Bridge on July 7. Briston will host the fourth T20I on July 9 after which the series ends at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
The three-match ODI series comes after that with the first match in Birmingham on Juky 14. This will be followed by matches at Cardiff, on July 16 and Lord's at July 19.
The Ben Stokes-led England men's Test team will also welcome New Zealand and Pakistan in two Rothesay Test series, while Harry Brook's white-ball side will host Sri Lanka besides India in ODIs and T20Is.
'We're really excited to unveil what promises to be a spectacular summer of international cricket in 2026. With world class opposition visiting iconic venues across the country, fans will have the chance to witness the very best of the men's and women's game,' ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould said in a statement.
'The highlight of the summer will undoubtedly be the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, hosted here in England for the first time since 2009. It's a huge moment for the women's game, for Nat Sciver-Brunt and her team, and it's a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation of players and fans.
'And just after that, we're thrilled that Lord's will also host an England Women's Test match for the first time, marking a really special period of time for the women's game,' he added.

Gautam Gambhir's Dressing Room-Shaking Speech Goes Viral, India Star Lauded For Inspiring Act

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir hailed Rishabh Pant for his steely half-century despite an injured foot, saying that he has "inspired the next generation and created a legacy for himself", which is marked by resilience, bravery and putting the eam first. Pant, though unwillingly, has to bow out of the ongoing Test series against England due to a foot injury, with Tamil Nadu's Narayan Jagadeesan as his replacement. His last gift to the team before being forced to part ways due to injury was a valuable half-century, which he scored despite his injury and added some valuable runs to the first innings total of 358 runs. Speaking in a video by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Gambhir said, "The foundation of this test team will be based on what Rishabh has done for the team. I hate talking about individuals; I have never spoken about individuals in a team sport. You have not only inspired this dressing room, but you have inspired the next generation." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Team India (@indiancricketteam) "This is what you have done, and that is a legacy which you have created for yourself and everyone in this dressing room. So very, very well done from everyone. And the country will always be proud of you," he added. Pant said that his move to bat was a gesture from his side to do whatever it takes to make his team win, and he was not thinking about any personal goals. "It has been amazing the way they have backed me. The team is under pressure, everything is there, but when the whole country stands behind you for the same cause, that is something, that emotion is difficult to explain. How proud I feel to represent my country. The only message I am going to give my team is, Let us win it, guys. Let us do it for the country," he added. All-rounder Washington Sundar also noted how swollen Pant's foot was and called him a "son of the country". "It is very difficult to even put in the feeling that he would be going through in words because he has fractured his toe, and he is in pain no matter what. I even saw his foot; it was swollen badly. So I think for him to even walk around actually takes a lot, but he did a lot more than that. I think the whole country is proud of him, and he is just the son of a country, I would say," he added. Pant finished the series as the second-highest run-getter currently, with 479 runs in four matches and seven innings at an average of 68.42, with two centuries and three fifties, and runs scored at a strike rate of over 77. His best score is 134, and he scored twin tons at Leeds, becoming the first Indian to do so in a Test. He broke several records during the series, establishing his reputation as the best wicketkeeper-batter among all Asians, especially in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (SENA) nations. He also overtook his predecessor, MS Dhoni, for most Test tons by an Indian wicketkeeper, sealing his legacy as an all-time great already.

India missed Kohli, Rohit in England, but not their runs: Manjrekar's brutal truth after Gill's Manchester masterclass

Regardless of the result in the series decider at The Oval, this England tour has been a revelation for Shubman Gill the batter. He led India's batting charge twice—first in the Birmingham win, then in the Manchester draw that kept the series alive. Gill's masterclass across the series prompted former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar to drop a truth bomb: India may have missed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's presence, but not their contributions. Rohit Sharma and Virat at Kohli had retired from Test cricket in May this year(AP) Speaking on JioStar after India drew the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manjrekar hailed how India have managed to put England on the back foot despite the injuries that hit the camp ahead of the game and the retirements of three legends - Kohli, Rohit and R Ashwin. The words left former England batter Jonathan Trott admitting that had the scenario been reversed, England would not have managed to pull off the same. He, hence, hailed Gill, who now has 722 runs already in the series, the most ever by an Indian player on the tour of England, and the second-highest tally in an India-England Test, standing just 16 runs behind Joe Root's 737-run tally in the 2021 series. "If you're taking the Joe Root out of the side or taking two experienced players like India have had to retire recently, it would be a very, very different scenario. I think India have given a great account of themselves. They've kept the series alive, and it's certainly interesting to see the mood in the bus on the England bus when it goes down to London compared to the Indian bus on the way down to London. As we see Shubman Gill here in a league of legends, as it said, and certainly has the opportunity to go to the top of that sort of leaderboard there, and I wouldn't bet against it," he said. The anchor, however, pointed out that the situation was slightly different for India, leading to Manjrekar highlighting that Rohit was averaging around 10 in the last two Test series, while Kohli's average dipped to 30 in the last five years. He, hence, reckoned that while India missed the presence of the two batting legends, their contributions were not missed. "Rohit Sharma was averaging 10 in the last two series that he played, and Virat Kohli was averaging 30 in the last five years. So they were perhaps not easy to replace, but it wasn't like it was a huge loss. It was a loss of two very senior players, but not a loss of contribution, because they weren't contributing as much," he explained. India have one last match left in the series, the finale at The Oval, which will get underway on Thursday.

'Virat Was Averaging 30...': Manjrekar Says India Have Moved On From Kohli-Rohit

Last Updated: Sanjay Manjrekar has noted Rohit Sharma's average of 10 in recent Tests and Virat Kohli's average of 30 over five years, suggesting their retirements weren't a big loss for India. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has said that Rohit Sharma was averaging a dismal 10 in the last two Test series that he played, while ace batter Virat Kohli was averaging 30 in the last five years and although they weren't easy to replace, their retirements haven't been a huge loss to India. In the absence of Rohit and Kohli, Test skipper Shubman Gill led India's batting charge twice, first in the Birmingham victory over England, then in the Manchester draw that kept the series alive. Former England batter Jonathan Trott admitted that had the scenario been reversed, England wouldn't have managed to pull off the same. 'If you're taking the Joe Root out of the side or taking two experienced players like India have had to retire recently, it would be a very, very different scenario. I think India have given a great account of themselves," Trott said while speaking on Sony Sports. 'They've kept the series alive and it's certainly interesting to see the mood in the bus on the England bus when it goes down to London compared to the Indian bus on the way down to London," Trott added. The anchor pointed out that the situation was different for India, leading to Manjrekar highlighting Rohit-Kohli's diminishing returns. 'Rohit Sharma was averaging 10 in the last two series that he played and Virat Kohli was averaging 30 in the last five years. So they were perhaps not easy to replace, but it wasn't like it was a huge loss," Manjrekar said. 'It was a loss of two very senior players, but not a loss of contribution, because they weren't contributing as much," Manjrekar added. Having conceded a 311-run lead and lost their openers for ducks in the second innings, India displayed resolve to get a favourable result because of the efforts of Gill (103 off 238), KL Rahul (90 off 230), Jadeja (107 not out off 185) and Washington (101 not out off 206). With inspirational England captain Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer removing a well-set Gill and Rahul in the morning, England sensed a series-sealing win against India, but Jadeja and Washington hung in there before milking the bowlers towards the end of the day. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
