WWE WrestleMania: Joe Hendry makes surprise appearance vs. Randy Orton
WWE legend Randy Orton issued an open challenge to anyone in the locker room for his WrestleMania Night 2 match on Sunday - and TNA Champion Joe Hendry answered the call.
Many fans expected the return of Rusev, but it was Hendry who appeared, a few months after his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble.
Hendry received a warm reception from the crowd at Allegiant Stadium, who sang along to his incredibly catchy theme song, but his WrestleMania moment didn't last very long. A vintage RKO outta nowhere ended the match and gave Orton a victory in his 20th WrestleMania appearance.

Report: WWE SmackDown To Extend Three-Hour Format

WWE SmackDown may not return to a two-hour format… yet. 2025 began with WWE SmackDown running as a three-hour show on the USA Network, instead of its usual two hours. This was a significant change for the blue brand, which had largely been a two-hour show since its inception in 1999. Triple H later mentioned in January that this change was only temporary and that SmackDown would go back to two hours later. Advertisement In September 2024, WrestleVotes reported SmackDown would switch back to two hours in June after many three-hour episodes. Last month, WrestleVotes confirmed this again and said the change would likely happen with the June 6 episode of SmackDown, with Dave Meltzer also confirming this detail. However, recent reports from PWInsider say that things might not go as expected. The reports mentioned that the USA Network had internally listed WWE SmackDown as running three hours long in early June. This means the show might continue with the longer, three-hour format instead of going back to the usual two-hour format. It remains to be seen how much longer this format will last, but it looks like SmackDown will be a three-hour show a bit longer. WWE SmackDown May 23rd match card update The May 23 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will air live from the EnMarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia. This show will be the final stop before Saturday Night's Main Event. Below is updated match card for upcoming edition of SmackDown. Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Featured pricing is subject to change. The John Cena-Cody Rhodes rematch is finally here. More than three months after Cena shocked the world with his heel turn and subsequent Undisputed WWE Chamionsip win at WrestleMania, the legendary combatants are set to go head-to-head once again at the first-ever, two-day WWE SummerSlam. Their high-stakes battle — a 'street fight' with no rules orchestrated in surprising fashion via a sneaky contract add by Rhodes — will take place at East Rutherford, N.J.'s MetLife Stadium on either Saturday, Aug. 2 or Sunday, Aug. 3. Advertisement Should Cena win, he may retire as the Undisputed WWE Champion and become the 'Last Real Champion.' A Rhodes victory ensures the title continues to exist within the sport. Clearly a lot is on the line. Yet, that's far from all the exciting action scheduled for the early August weekend in the Meadowlands. Joining Cena and Rhodes on the card are Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill duking it out for the WWE Women's Championship, Gunther vs. CM Punk in a World Heavyweight Championship fight and Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky in the Women's World Championship. Advertisement That's not to mention Randy Orton and Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. Or that Cardi B is hosting. If you want to be there, last-minute SummerSlam tickets are still available. At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on two-day passes was $205 including fees on Vivid Seats. WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre Trashes Travis Scott

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul have some harsh words for celebrity "outsiders" in WWE. On the latest episode of the Impaulsive podcast, the duo took aim at both Travis Scott for his WrestleMania 41 interference and their upcoming SummerSlam opponent, Jelly Roll. The conversation highlights a growing debate within wrestling about the right and wrong way for celebrities to get involved in the business. Both McIntyre and Paul made it clear they feel there is a certain level of respect and athleticism required. McIntyre Blasts Travis Scott The most scathing comments were reserved for multi-platinum recording artist Travis Scott. McIntyre blamed Scott for ruining the main event of WrestleMania 41, where his interference helped John Cena defeat Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. "Do a six-minute run-in at WrestleMania and screw up our damn main event," McIntyre said of Scott's involvement. He then bluntly added, "Travis Scott. Piece of s---." An Insulting Comparison The conversation then shifted to their current rival, Jelly Roll. Logan Paul, a celebrity who has earned respect for his incredible athletic ability in the ring, said he finds it "insulting" when a non-athlete thinks they can just walk into the business. McIntyre echoed this sentiment with sarcasm. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation "Jelly Roll, with that major athletic background that I'm always hearing about as a kid and all the sports he played," McIntyre joked. "I don't know, dominoes in jail, I assume?" McIntyre did give credit to the "anomalies" who have successfully transitioned, naming Paul himself, Kurt Angle, and Ronda Rousey as natural athletes who took to wrestling quickly. Alex BierensThe Modern "Respectful" Celebrity The comments from McIntyre and Paul tap into a long history of celebrity involvement in WWE. While legends like Mr. T and Mike Tyson brought massive mainstream attention to the company, there have been many instances of celebrity appearances that have been poorly received by fans. In the modern era, a new standard has been set by stars like Logan Paul and Bad Bunny. Both men have been praised by fans and fellow wrestlers for their dedication, intense training, and clear respect for the wrestling business. Their critically acclaimed in-ring performances have created an expectation that any celebrity who steps into a WWE ring must be willing to put in the work. McIntyre and Paul's comments frame Travis Scott and Jelly Roll as celebrities who are not meeting that new, higher standard. The Road To SummerSlam These comments are the latest shots fired in the build to a massive tag team match at SummerSlam. The feud ignited on SmackDown on July 11th when Paul confronted Jelly Roll, leading to Randy Orton making the save. After more chaos at Saturday Night's Main Event, the match was made official: Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul. The war of words is sure to intensify as the blockbuster match approaches. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports
