Teammate says Bo Nix's ‘dawg mentality' has been apparent this offseason
Bo Nix has that dawg in him.
Going into his second season as the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback, Nix has clearly grown into his role as a leader, and he's been fiery at practice, chirping back and forth with the team's defensive backs.
'I love that," safety Brandon Jones said on June 10. "I never wanted to be somewhere where a quarterback is kind of shy or to himself. I think if a quarterback can show that 'dawg' mentality, that goes a long ways for me and it keeps us battling. It keeps the competition super healthy and very competitive. I've liked what I've seen from him in that standpoint.'
Nix, 25, was invited to the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season after surpassing 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scoring 34 touchdowns. He is now more comfortable going into Year 2, and it's noticeable on and off the field.
'I have, and I've seen his overall comfort level on the field," Jones said when asked if he's seen Nix step into more of a leadership role this year. "You can see he's doing a really good job of trying to diagnose the defense, which goes a super long way especially as a quarterback.
"A lot of young quarterbacks kind of struggle with that early on. He's done a really good job of dissecting the defense, and figuring out what we are playing and making the right checks that he needs to make. He's definitely made a lot of strides.'
All signs point to Nix taking another step forward in 2025 after an impressive rookie campaign in 2024. Denver's offense appears to be in good hands.

Giants RB Reveals Welcome-to-NFL Moment With Steelers Legend originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For rookies coming into the NFL, they can all look forward to a "welcome to the NFL moment" where they have an interaction with a veteran or a star player that humbles them. Advertisement And New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. had one of his own in his rookie year this past season. In a recent appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football Friday, the second-year NFC East running back talked about a time where he had a run-in with one of the best Pittsburgh Steelers' best defensive players of all time. "The one I remember is the Steelers," Tracy said. "So I'm doing my inside zone and I'm thinking the gap is there. If you're a running back, you understand that like the holes is there, until they're not. And Cam Heyward, he's two-gapping, so he's making it look like it's there... He hit me so hard to where I hit my head on the ground and I just kind of had to lay there for a little bit... Yeah, I'm in the NFL. They're just a little bit different." Tracy started in just 12 games for the Giants in his rookie year, but he was still able to rack up 839 yards and five touchdowns, as he made the most of the opportunities he was given. But as good as he was, it's tough to faze a player of Heyward's caliber. Every NFL rookie is going to have a moment in their first year that humbles them, and Tracy got his from one of the best in the business. Seahawks news: Excitement for Sam Darnold, Shaq Griffin returns, more for Cardinals fans
A look at some news from the last week about the NFC West rival Seahawks that Cardinals fans should know. We have made it through another week of the NFL offseason and are 10 weeks away from the first Sunday of the regular season. As such, it is time to check in with the Arizona Cardinals' division rivals in the NFC West — the LA Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks — to see what has been going on with them. Below are a few stories about the Seahawks from the last week the Cardinals fans should know about. They have a top-5 backfield? The Cardinals feel good about their running back room with James Conner, Trey Benson and Emari Demercado. PFF believes the Seahawks' group of Kenneth Walker, Zach Charbonnet and more is a top-five unit. Kupp excited for Darnold Two of the biggest question marks for the Seahawks in 2025 will be the play of quarterback Sam Darnold and the play of receiver Cooper Kupp (assuming he stays healthy, which has been an issue the last few seasons). Kupp has nothing but good things to say about Darnold and is excited to play with him. Potential cuts the Seahawks might eye As we get closer to training camp and eventually the regular season, scores of players will be cut, both good and not so good. Justin Melo names three potential cuts from other teams that Seattle could be interested in. Seahawks, Shaq Griffin reunite Cornerback Shaquill Griffin was drafted by Seattle in the third round in 2017 and played four seasons there, making the Pro Bowl once. He played fo four teams in the last four seasons but has returned to his first team. He signed with the Seahawks this week. It's not like Calais Campbell rejoining the Cardinals, but it is cool for Seahawks fans. Free agent O-lineman named Seahawks' missing move This part of the offseason is always about speculation, lists and rankings. In a list of one final move for every team to make before training camp, it is suggested that the Seahawks boost their offensive line with free agent Brandon Scherff.
