Bo Nix labeled a ‘promising prospect' ahead of 2025 NFL season

Bo Nix was always a pretty good quarterback in college with the Auburn Tigers, but he turned into a superstar when he transferred to the Oregon Ducks. In his final year in Eugene, he threw an unbelievable 45 touchdowns to just three interceptions, which cemented his place as a first-round draft pick. Although Nix was highly successful with the Ducks, his age and lack of elite traits were a deterrent for several teams and most NFL fans. However, the Denver Broncos selected him with the No. 12 pick, and he won over the respect of a lot of people in his rookie season. Despite a frustrating beginning to his career, which saw him throw four interceptions over his first two games, Nix settled in and threw 29 touchdowns to eight interceptions in the final 14 games. His stellar play earned the Broncos their first playoff berth since they won the Super Bowl nearly a decade ago. The former Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year and Heisman finalist now has sky-high expectations for his sophomore season and is viewed in a much brighter light than before. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports ranked every starting NFL quarterback by tiers ahead of the 2025 season, and Nix was placed under the 'Promising Prospects' tier. "The seasoned Oregon product quietly approached 30 passing scores in Year 1 under Sean Payton, while excelling as a play-extender with his legs," Benjamin wrote. "The question is, can he make a leap with the Denver Broncos' pass weapons, and/or better manage the ball as Payton leans deeper into the ground game and defense?" It's a little too early to consider the second-year man a star, but Benjamin believes he is well on his way. Denver has added more playmakers for Nix to use this season, so all signs point to him building on his rookie year with the Broncos and establishing himself as one of the top passers in a loaded AFC West. Broncos' WR Marvin Mims Reveals Where Things Stand With Bo Nix

Broncos' WR Marvin Mims Reveals Where Things Stand With Bo Nix originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Broncos drafted receiver Marvin Mims in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Mims' receiving production has been decent in his first two years in Denver, but his play on special teams has been outstanding. Advertisement Mims has made the Pro Bowl each of his first two years in the league and is coming off an All-Pro year in 2024 as a special-teams player. The Broncos' versatile gadget has made his mark as a punt and kick returner, but now he's ready to make the next jump as a receiver with his second-year quarterback, Bo Nix, in 2025. Mims believes a special connection is brewing between the duo, and it started last season and has developed since the Broncos' playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills. 'We go to Buffalo. We go up 7-0, we're feeling good. And then at the end of the game, we get our butts whooped and the season's over,' Mims told The Denver Post's Sean Keeler. "I don't want to say it's a terrible feeling. But you're kind of sitting there (and) part of me is like, because I'm young, and I'm going to be here next year, it's like, 'Dang, we've really got something.' And then part of the other part of me is like, 'Dang, we really missed out on an opportunity.'" Advertisement But that missed opportunity has only lit a fire inside Mims ahead of 2025. 'But just knowing what you've got, the type of program you have, the type of culture you have, you just kind of have that feeling like, 'Yeah, I'm going to be back," Mims said. "And we're going to do some special things here.'' Mims is coming off a career-high 503 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He'll be Nix's No. 2 option likely in 2025, and looking to build on his production from last year. The third-year receiver noticed Nix's growth throughout his rookie season and is excited to see where the young quarterback can grow in 2025. Advertisement 'It's funny, because towards that (middle) of (2024), Bo was obviously getting more comfortable in the offense. He's like, 'Hey, if we get this, if we get that, if you get this, let's go eyes early, eyes late. Be ready.' And it showed," Mims said. "Now it's more of, I don't want to say him progressing … he's seeing it differently now. And us kind of going from those routes we did last year to making it more broad to other routes, too. And just understanding what he's seeing and what I'm seeing, what I'm feeling, what he wants. Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. (19) celebrates his touchdown with wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey (84) and quarterback Bo Nix (10) in the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile J. Downing-Imagn Images 'But the connection was definitely there last year. And we're just going to keep trying to grow and spread across the room. Because I think, especially with Bo, he knows what he wants. He knows what he sees. The quarterback coach is the pass game coordinator (Davis Webb), so they're talking all the time. And it's going to be a lot better this year. I'm looking forward to it.' Mims mentioned that after the loss to the Bills, a lot of the team stuck around to work together early in the offseason and took vacations together to continue to build those relationships. Advertisement The Broncos' shift in culture and energy has been evident in their rebuild led by Sean Payton and centered around Nix at the helm. 'Sean (Payton) is going to have a competitive team regardless. He said it last year a bunch of times: 'Young and hungry is dangerous.' That's something we were last year, and we felt it. We could feel the energy," Mims said. "So we're excited to go. I'm excited to go. I'm excited to see what this team can do, even in the preseason, because, I mean, it's a culture thing … I'm really excited.' There are a lot of expectations around the Broncos in 2025. After making the playoffs with a rookie quarterback last year, adding weapons, and bolstering an already elite defense, this team looks poised for a deep playoff run. That poise and leadership start with the man in charge of the offense, and Mims sees Nix stepping up in that role. Advertisement 'It starts at the helm. It really starts with Bo. Bo is the most confident (guy) … we can have a good time too, but he's so serious. Like when it's time to do football, it's time to do football. And everybody feels that. Everybody learns off of him," Mims said. "And he's always the one speaking. It's not like he's just there, quiet, with a serious look on his face. He's up there speaking. So we see that off of him.' Teammate says Bo Nix's ‘dawg mentality' has been apparent this offseason

Bo Nix has that dawg in him. Going into his second season as the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback, Nix has clearly grown into his role as a leader, and he's been fiery at practice, chirping back and forth with the team's defensive backs. 'I love that," safety Brandon Jones said on June 10. "I never wanted to be somewhere where a quarterback is kind of shy or to himself. I think if a quarterback can show that 'dawg' mentality, that goes a long ways for me and it keeps us battling. It keeps the competition super healthy and very competitive. I've liked what I've seen from him in that standpoint.' Nix, 25, was invited to the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season after surpassing 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scoring 34 touchdowns. He is now more comfortable going into Year 2, and it's noticeable on and off the field. 'I have, and I've seen his overall comfort level on the field," Jones said when asked if he's seen Nix step into more of a leadership role this year. "You can see he's doing a really good job of trying to diagnose the defense, which goes a super long way especially as a quarterback. "A lot of young quarterbacks kind of struggle with that early on. He's done a really good job of dissecting the defense, and figuring out what we are playing and making the right checks that he needs to make. He's definitely made a lot of strides.' All signs point to Nix taking another step forward in 2025 after an impressive rookie campaign in 2024. Denver's offense appears to be in good hands. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Broncos' Bo Nix Can Become a 'Monster' According to Former NFL Quarterback Rex Grossman

Broncos' Bo Nix Can Become a 'Monster' According to Former NFL Quarterback Rex Grossman originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Broncos selected quarterback Bo Nix in the first round during the 2024 NFL draft. While they picked up their franchise quarterback, there were a lot of doubts surrounding his game. Advertisement From the limiting offense at Oregon to Nix being the sixth quarterback taken in round one, there were a lot of doubters heading into year one. But, after just one year, Nix has a former NFL quarterback giving him extremely high praise. In an article from Kyle Odegard of he interviewed former Chicago Bears Super Bowl quarterback Rex Grossman. After discussing multiple young quarterbacks, Grossman was asked who among the young quarterbacks has "really impressed him." He answered with Bo Nix. "I think Bo Nix is awesome," Grossman said. "He's not going to make mistakes. He can run better than people think. He's pretty accurate. If you put him on the trajectory that everyone gets better their second, third, fourth year, by the time he's in his fifth year, he's going to be a monster." Grossman's high praise of Nix is eye-catching. Considering he was a former Bears quarterback, and he didn't name number one overall pick Caleb Williams for this question, means he truly sees elite stuff from Nix. Based on how Nix looked in his rookie season, it's no surprise that there are people interested in how he develops. Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (10) during the first quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile Chenoy-Imagn Images Nix in year one threw for 3,775 passing yards and 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions on a 66.3 completion percentage. He also added 430 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, and a trick-play two-yard receiving touchdown. Advertisement In his 2024 rookie season, Nix was in third place in offensive rookie of the year voting. He also led the Broncos to the playoffs for the first time since the incredible 2015 season. Based on his rookie year, Grossman's praise of Nix is warranted. But Grossman wasn't done praising Nix. "Picking apart his game, I don't really see a weakness," Grossman said. "He's tough, fast, smart. Seems like he'd be a pretty good leader. Got a good coach and a good organization. I think they did well with that one." These comments from Grossman indicate not just how much the former quarterback likes Nix, but how much potential he sees in him. Grossman believes that if he continues to develop, Nix can be a "monster," which could put Nix among the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Tomato tarts from Japanese dessert shop will make you rethink what a tomato is

Psycho filler, Qu'il Fait Bon. For ages, the debate has raged on whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable. In the U.S.A., the Supreme Court ruled in Nix v. Hedden that a tomato is a vegetable because it is eaten as a part of meals. Meanwhile, the EU's Court of Justice deemed tomatoes to be fruits because they can be made into jams. And yet, I have to imagine that all the courts in the world would agree that whether fruit or vegetable, putting tomato in a dessert sounds kind of gross. That didn't stop dessert store chain Qu'il Fait Bon from trying it though, as our writer Maro recently discovered. She visited a Qu'il Fait Bon for the first time in a while because she knew they changed their lineup to use seasonal fruits in their tarts. She immediately saw that the large menu posted out front looked a little different, but nothing prepared her for just how drastic a change they'd made. One of their new items that came out this June was the OSMIC Fruit Tomato 10 Tart for 799 yen (US$5.54) a slice. OSMIC is a brand of tomatoes known for their exceptionally high sweetness. Current OSMIC tomatoes can go as high as 13 degrees Brix (Brix being the measurement for sugar content) which is in the neighborhood of a peach or strawberry, whereas an average tomato is around 7 degrees Brix. In the case of this tart, the tomatoes used have a brix of 10, making them fairly sweeter than those normally sold in supermarkets, but even with that Maro wondered if they would work in a dessert. Not wanting to pass up the chance to try it, she bought a slice to take home, but just before she did she spotted another oddity, Edamame Tart. Boiled soybeans don't have the same fruit-vegetable mystique about them unless you count crude limericks about flatulence, so this tart was possibly even more surprising and she bought a slice of it too, also for 799 yen. After getting home, Maro unboxed her tarts and took a piece of the tomato one first. From the moment it touched her tongue, she could tell this was an exquisite tomato and remarkably sweet. It had the sweetness of a dried tomato but with the juiciness of a fresh one. The cream inside was rich like cream cheese and had a sourness that worked well with the incredible sweetness of the tomato. It tasted unlike any tart she had before and it had a very sophisticated feel to it. There was even tomato mixed into the crust, giving it a bold red color. Next, it was time to try the Edamame Tart. In addition to having edamame on top, there was edamame mousse and edamame custard filling inside, ensuring a deep soybean flavor. After taking a bite Maro realized that this wasn't nearly as strange as she expected, in fact, it was just like zunda, a sweet edamame paste that's popular in the northeast part of Japan. They were pretty ambitious dessert ingredients but Qu'il Fait Bon pulled them off perfectly. Also, even though this shop has locations all over Japan, the tomato tart is only available at the Grand Maison Ginza, Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, Tokyo Dome City, Shizuoka, and Hamamatsu stores. The Edamame Tart is even rarer and can only be bought in the Shizuoka store. Qu'il Fait Bon has many other delicious offerings though, and it's entirely possible they might have something different but equally daring in other locations too, so check it out if you can.
