Michigan RB Justice Haynes raves about Derrick Henry's 'physical gifts'

Yahooa day ago
Michigan Wolverines running back Justice Haynes has something very special in common with Baltimore Ravens superstar Derrick Henry. The recruiting services ranked both as the No. 1 high school running back in their respective graduating classes. Both then chose the University of Alabama. Henry played three seasons for the Crimson Tide, winning both a national title and the Heisman Trophy in his junior year. King Henry then entered the NFL Draft a year early, where he was selected 45th overall by the Tennessee Titans.
After two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Haynes transferred to Michigan, where he is expected to share the running back duties with Jordan Marshall this upcoming season.

In his first eight NFL seasons, Henry has rushed for 11,423 yards and 106 touchdowns. And all signs indicate that there is plenty more to come. Henry, who is coming off his personal best single-season yards-per-carry (5.9), is an inspiration to young, developing backs everywhere, including Haynes.
'King Henry's a dawg,' Haynes said in an exclusive with RG.org. 'He's one of a kind—physically gifted, blessed by God. He's 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, running 4.4, maybe 4.3. He's moving. At 31, to do what he just did—1,921 rushing yards, 5.9 yards per carry, 16 touchdowns—I don't see him slowing down. When it's all said and done, he'll be one of the best of all time.'
Henry is currently 19th all-time in career rushing yards, but a 1,000-yard season in 2025 would vault him past the iconic Jim Brown for 11th place. Racking up 3,000 more yards would place him just outside the top five.
Although the Ravens' star running back is undoubtedly very talented, he wouldn't achieve the same level of success as King Henry without his commitment to training and conditioning. You've probably seen the viral videos showcasing his dedication as a workout warrior. For any athlete, nutrition is just as crucial as exercise, if not more so.
Haynes has a NIL deal that includes a partial ownership stake in Loom, a company that produces juices with a vegan, gluten-free formula. The beverage fits in with Haynes' healthy lifestyle.
"I try to stay on a strict diet," Haynes said. "My nutrition team here at Michigan is great, and they do a great job of weekly just checking in on my in-bodies, making sure what I'm doing is ultimately paying off, and the results are showing."
"The carbs I need to have, vegetables I need to have, and to go with that, Loom was a great fit for me."

Haynes has NFL aspirations, and he recognizes that nutrition and conditioning are crucial components of what it takes to achieve them.

Cowboys Source Issues Three-Word Truth On Diggs Rumors

Cowboys Source Issues Three-Word Truth On Diggs Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - We've done the analysis. When it comes to Trevon Diggs' time with the Dallas Cowboys, there are three options being thrown out there. Advertisement Trade him. Cut him. Hope for him. We will concede that the 51st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has been a success story in many ways here ... it's been a while since the playmaking Diggs has lived up to expectations. That is mostly due to the fact that he has sustained back-to-back season-ending injuries to that troublesome left knee ... and some people here inside The Star also think it's due to a previous lack of intensity when it came to his rehab. But ... He is a two-time Pro Bowler and was a First-Team All-Pro in 2021 ... at a time that was pre-injury and a time loaded with his record-setting ability to grab interceptions. Advertisement Can that all happen again? As we have illustrated here, the Cowboys can "escape hatch'' their way out of his contract in a reasonably affordable way after the completion of the 2025 NFL season. Do it next offseason and they save about $12.5 million while they carry a dead cap hit of just under $6 million in 2026. Or, better yet, they could designate him a post-June 1 release, saving $15.5 million and then can spread the dead cap of $6 mil over the 2026 and 2027 seasons at a little under $3 mil per year. Trade? If Diggs' injuries keep him from returning to the field at some early stage this year (Trevon has targeted Week 1 for his comeback, unrealistic as that sounds), and if the rehab prevents him from returning to form in 2025 ... Advertisement Why would anybody want to trade for him? That leaves ... "hope'' ... and indeed, internet memes aside, "hope'' is pretty much the plan.'' So, a source tells "We will wait.'' Wait on the rehab. Wait on cutting him. Wait on panicking. Wait. Hope. The fact that fellow DaRon Bland is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025 plays into this; maybe Dallas simply transfers its investment from Diggs to Bland. The possible play of rookie Shavon Revel (also rehabbing) is a factor, too. If he becomes a starting-caliber corner, Diggs' importance here shrinks. But that's for later. For now? Cowboys Almost-Coach Kellen Moore Given 'Nightmare' Prediction in New Job

Cowboys Almost-Coach Kellen Moore Given 'Nightmare' Prediction in New Job originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys are delighted with their hire of first-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer. But they came this-close to hiring another guy with familiarity here inside The Star ... Advertisement And now Kellen Moore is dealing with "nightmare'' predictions at his new job. The Jerry Jones-led offseason search for a replacement for Mike McCarthy was not a wide-net far-reaching one. It largely focused on Schottenheimer (who was McCarthy's offensive coordinator) and Moore (who had the same job here before Schotty). Moore jumped/was pushed two years ago and worked with the Chargers in 2023 ... and Schotty worked here with Dak Prescott as the QB finished second in NFL MVP voting. Then in 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles brought on Moore. ... and that worked out in the best conceivable way. The former Dallas offensive coordinator helped unleash running back Saquon Barkley last season, and guided quarterback Jalen Hurts to an MVP in Philly's dominance of the Kansas City Chiefs in last February's Super Bowl LIX. Advertisement As his reward, Kellen interviewed here but then eventually landed the head coaching job with the New Orleans Saints. (Ironically, as we understand it, beating out McCarthy, among others). The party is over, however. The projections are rolling in. And according to the oddsmakers, the Saints - coming off a 5-12 season - have the lowest projected win total of any team in the NFL at 4.5. Ouch. 'A successful season as Eagles OC led Kellen Moore to a head coaching position, but he could be in for a nightmare season,' USA Today writes. 'His best quarterback had health concerns. Then, he retired. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough will need to get up to speed quickly, or we could be in for another run by Spencer Rattler.' Advertisement Moore turns 37 on July 5, so he still qualifies as "one of the brightest young offensive minds in pro football,'' as is so often written. But he doesn't have Dak and CeeDee Lamb anymore. Nor does he have Barkley and Hurts and A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. He has, in New Orleans' offense, Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave and little else. The Eagles should be great again. The Cowboys think they'll be good. The Saints? they will likely be favored only four times all season, at best: twice against the lowly Carolina Panthers and Week 16 and 17 games against the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans. There are only 32 of these jobs, and Moore was due to get one. But the challenge is now about the avoidance of a "nightmare'' in the Big Easy. Davante Adams compares Matthew Stafford to Aaron Rodgers in a very encouraging way

'Matthew has that type of stuff still in his arm. ... Matthew's still got it.' Davante Adams spent the majority of his career catching passes from Aaron Rodgers, a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer. Adams was on the Green Bay Packers when Rodgers won three of his four MVP awards, including back-to-back in 2020 and 2021. Together, Adams and Rodgers were arguably the best quarterback-receiver tandem in the NFL, putting up eye-popping numbers together in their prime. Adams will now have the pleasure of playing alongside Matthew Stafford and though they've only been teammates for a couple of years, Adams sees similarities between Rodgers and Stafford. And we're not talking about the version of Rodgers who struggled at times last season. Adams told Ryan Clark at Fanatics Fest recently that Stafford has similar 'type of stuff in his arm' that Rodgers had when he was winning MVPs in 2020 and 2021. 'He told me something that really stood out,' Clark said on the Mina Kimes Show. 'He said, 'I got to play with an older Aaron.' He's like, 'Matthew has that type of stuff still in his arm.' And we're talking about the Aaron Rodgers that was able to come back and win two MVPs. He's like, 'Matthew's still got it.' He's like, 'That reminds me of that.'' Adams also added that Stafford plays with a ton of competitiveness without letting his ego get in the way. 'And he said he also has this level of competitiveness to him that you still see at practice without a-hole to it. And that really sparked my interest,' Clark added. Stafford and Rodgers are two of the oldest players still slinging it in the NFL and when healthy, both are playing at a high level. Neither is particularly mobile and elusive in the pocket anymore but they have incredibly strong arms and put zip on the ball effortlessly. When talking about arm talent, Rodgers and Stafford are both in the top tier – even at this point in their careers. Adams saw it with Rodgers and he's seeing it with the Rams quarterback now, too.
