Kaizer Chiefs could lose out on top African striker Michael Olunga, who has netted 130 goals in Qatar in the past four years.
The 31-year-old was previously linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but reports suggest he is close to joining a club in the United Arab Emirates.
The Kenyan international has been linked with a move to the Glamour Boys since the previous transfer window. Amakhosi instead signed former SuperSport United striker Tashreeq Morris in January.
The Kenyan striker is now a free agent having left Qatari giants Al Duhail but it looks like he won't be joining Kaizer Chiefs. He is reportedly on the brink of joining Emirati side Al-Nasr.
Kenya's Michael Olunga became Al Duhail's all-time top scorer with 130 goals, having joined them four and a half years ago. He has scored over 200 goals in his professional career.
Al Duhail confirmed the striker's departure in a heartfelt statement posted on their official website, praising Olunga's professionalism, discipline, and immense contribution to the club's recent successes.
'Olunga was an example of professionalism and discipline on and off the field, and contributed significantly to the club's numerous achievements and championships,' the club said.
'He left a clear mark on the club's history through his decisive goals and contributions to the first football team.'
Olunga joined the Qatari side from Japan's Kashiwa Reysol in January 2021 and hit the ground running.
During his time in Qatar, he attracted several teams, including Kaizer Chiefs however, the Kenyan striker remained with the Qatari team until 2025.
'I spent four amazing years with the club, filled with tremendous support and love both on and off the pitch,' Olunga said.
'I'm happy to have played for this great club; joining a club of Al Duhail's stature was a huge step for me.'

Kaizer Chiefs open talks for THIRD ex-Orlando Pirates star!

Kaizer Chiefs are already set to welcome two former Orlando Pirates players with a third now reportedly targeted! Chiefs are looking to improve their fortunes ahead of what could be a very busy 2025/26 football season If reports are to be believed, Chiefs have already signed at least five players, with increasing links on others. Pirates duo Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane are believed to be their earliest signings. The two defenders will join on a free transfer. There are also rumours that Mamelodi Sundowns striker Etiosa Ighodaro and Cape Town Spurs' Asanele Velebayi are Khosified. They have also reportedly agreed deals for Ethan Chislett after leaving Port Vale and Nkanyiso Shinga a Portuguese-based left-back. Furthermore they are believed to be advancing in negotiations to sign Indonesia-based Portuguese striker Flavio Silva. Now according to SABC Sport , that is not the only player Chiefs have opened talks with. According to the same publication, Chiefs have began club to club dialogue with SuperSport United. This as they attempt to sign for Pirates midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. 'SABC Sport can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs have formally opened talks with SuperSport United to sign midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. It's believed Amakhosi are hoping to wrap up the Ndlovu discussions in time for the player to join the rest of the squad in Europe. Matsatsantsa had earlier triggered the option to extend the player's contract by a further year after managing to avoid relegation on the final day of last season, so Chiefs will have to negotiate a fee to get him on board. According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, the two parties are now in advanced stages of negotiations, and pending finer details Ndlovu could very well be joining another Soweto giant since leaving Pirates in 2022.' Kaizer Chiefs agree deal for signing number SIX!

Kaizer Chiefs are stepping up their transfer window activity ahead of their pre-season tour to the Netherlands. Chiefs are set to depart for Europe next month and will have a plethora of new faces on that trip. It is no secret that they are looking to bolster their attack going into next season. But that is just one department, as they are also intent on adding strength and depth to their defence. One position that is reportedly earmarked for that is the left-back berth. As it stands, Chiefs have Bradley Cross, Happy Mashiane. Edmilson Dove has recently been released while Bongani Sam is tipped to follow. Although they're set to welcome former Orlando Pirates star Paseka Mako, Chiefs are also in talks with other options. This publication reported earlier this month that they had opened negotiations with Aphiwe Baliti of SuperSport United. Just when those negotiations started taking centre stage, the club moved on another target. According to FARPost , Chiefs have reached an agreement to sign Portuguese-based left-back Nkanyiso Shinga! 'Kaizer Chiefs have reached an agreement with Portuguese top-flight club FC Alverca to sign Nkanyiso Shinga. The transfer is pending a medical examination and the finalisation of personal terms. The club first engaged Shinga late last year. However, following Alverca's promotion to the Primeira Liga, closing the deal became more difficult. The Alverca do Ribatejo-based club was also eager to extend his contract. Shinga, who has been in Portugal for seven years, had a year left on his contract with the newly promoted side, which was set to expire in June 2026. The club first engaged Shinga late last year. However, following Alverca's promotion to the Primeira Liga, closing the deal became more difficult.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans are you happy to boost your left-back stocks with Shinga?
