5 cops among 12 hurt in Bhognadih clash

Time of India16 hours ago

Dumka: Hul Diwas celebrations in Bhognadih, the birthplace of Sido and Kanhu Murmu, were dampened after a clash between the police and the descendants of the revolutionaries left 12 injured on Monday.
Five police personnel and seven locals sustained injuries as a section of locals led by Mandal Murmu, a sixth-generation descendant of the revolutionary duo, tried to disrupt a scheduled govt programme at the village after Sahibganj district administration denied his outfit Sido-Kanhu Murmu Hul Foundation to host a parallel programme, unlike previous years.
In the 2024 assembly election, Mandal, the then a JMM worker, was a proposer for chief minister Hemant Soren, the party candidate for Barhet (SC) assembly seat.
He later flipped to BJP.
Mandal, however, installed tents and other makeshift structures at the venue. These were removed by the police on June 28, which created a public outrage.
On Sunday, a section of the locals rallied behind Mandal and locked down Sido-Kanhu Park, the venue of the event and blocked the administration from making arrangements for Monday's function. Police, attempting to break the lock, baton-charged and fired tear gas shells on the agitators who were armed with traditional weapons such as bows and arrows.

State school education minister Ramdas Soren was due to attend the function.
"Protesters attacked police personnel who were trying to break the lock at the main gate of the park. Mild baton charge was initiated to disperse the mob," Sahibganj SP Amit Kumar Singh said. A sub-divisional police officer was among the five police personnel who were injured, Singh said. "A group of miscreants tried to disrupt the function, and mild force was used by the police. The function was organised smoothly thereafter," deputy commissioner Hemant Sati said.

US under cyber 'attack'? Iran-linked hackers threaten to release Trump aides' emails; CISA issues stern warning

Iran-linked hackers have issued a fresh threat against the United States, vowing to leak additional emails stolen from Donald Trump's aides, Reuters reported. The group had previously distributed a batch of the hacked messages to media in the lead-up to 2024 presidential election. Issuing a stern warning against such act, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said that the "so-called cyber 'attack'" was nothing more than "digital propaganda" against Trump. "Let this be a warning to others, there will be no refuge, tolerance, or leniency for these actions," it said in statement posted on X. "A hostile foreign adversary is threatening to illegally exploit purportedly stolen and unverified material in an effort to distract, discredit, and divide. This so-called cyber 'attack' is nothing more than digital propaganda, and the targets are no coincidence. This is a calculated smear campaign meant to damage President Trump and discredit honorable public servants who serve our country with distinction. These criminals will be found and they will be brought to justice," the statement read. — CISAgov (@CISAgov) What did the hackers say? Speaking to Reuters virtually, the hackers, using the alias Robert, claimed they had obtained around 100 gigabytes of emails from the accounts of White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Trump attorney Lindsey Halligan, Trump adviser Roger Stone, and adult film star-turned-Trump critic Stormy Daniels. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Adidas Three Shorts With 60% Discount, Limited Stock Available Original Adidas Shop Now Undo Robert hinted at the potential of selling the material but offered no specifics about their intentions. The hackers also refrained from revealing what the emails contained. In the final stretch of the 2024 presidential race, hackers Robert surfaced, claiming to have compromised the email accounts of Trump allies and leaking messages to the media. The material included details on Trump's financial dealings with RFK Jr's lawyers, internal campaign discussions, and talks about settling with Stormy Daniels. While some leaks were verified and reported by Reuters, including the email that seemed to outline a financial deal between Trump and RFK Jr's attorneys, they had little impact on the election outcome, which Trump won. The US justice department later accused Iran's Revolutionary Guards of running the operation, an allegation the hackers did not address.

Trump pushes Netanyahu for Gaza ceasefire deal as US plans $500M arms boost to Israel

Ahead of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's US visit, the Trump administration announced on Monday, June 30, 2025, its plans to sell $510 million worth of Joint Direct Attack Munition guidance kits for the Israeli Air Force's air-to-ground bombs. As a part of the deal, the State Department and the Pentagon approved the sale of more than 7,000 JDAM guidance kits designed to be affixed to the Israeli Air Force's unguided BLU-109 2,000-pound bombs and Mk-82 500-pound bombs, according to the news portal Al-Monitor. This comes after Israel requested 3,845 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits for the BLU-109 bomb and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B JDAM guidance kits for the MK 82 bomb, Middle East Eye reported. The arms boost from Washington for Israel comes at a time when the US President is pushing hard for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the conflict. He has also recently signaled his interest in achieving another hostage release deal in Gaza. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo Trump on Sunday, June 29, 2025, posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, urging Netanyahu to 'make the deal in Gaza' in order to secure the return of the remaining hostages. Speaking about the weapons deal, the DSCA said in a statement that Washington is committed to the security of Israel. 'The United States is committed to the security of Israel, and it is vital to U.S. national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability,' the DSCA said in a statement. Live Events 'The proposed sale will enhance Israel's capability to meet current and future threats by improving its ability to defend Israel's borders, vital infrastructure, and population centers,' the statement further stated. Netanyahu's US visit Trump will host Israeli Netanyahu for talks at the White House next Monday (July 7, 2025), according to two US administration officials. The officials were not authorized to comment publicly on the visit that hasn't been formally announced and spoke on the condition of anonymity. Netanyahu's visit comes after Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer's visit to Washington this week for talks with senior administration officials on a Gaza ceasefire, Iran, and other matters. The US President in public comments has signaled he's turning his attention to bringing a close to the fighting between Israel and Hamas, since the ceasefire to end 12 days of fighting between Israel and Iran took hold a week ago. Earlier, Trump told reporters, 'We think within the next week we're going to get a ceasefire' in Gaza but didn't offer any further explanation for his optimism. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt earlier on Monday said Trump and administration officials were in constant communication with Israeli leadership, and bringing about an end to the Gaza conflict is a priority for Trump. 'It's heartbreaking to see the images that have come out from both Israel and Gaza throughout this war, and the president wants to see it end. He wants to save lives," Leavitt added. An eight-week ceasefire was reached as Trump took office earlier in 2025, but Israel resumed the war in March after trying to get Hamas to accept new terms on next steps. Talks between Israel and Hamas have repeatedly faltered over a major sticking point—whether the war should end as part of any ceasefire agreement. About 50 hostages remain captive in Gaza, with less than half believed to be alive.
