Jharia residents say Centre's rehabilitation plan inadequate
Dhanbad: A day after the Union cabinet approved a Rs 5,940-crore outlay for a revised rehabilitation master plan of Jharia coalfield residents in Dhanbad district, the affected people living in the coalfield area on Thursday expressed strong dissatisfaction calling the plan unjust and inadequate in addressing their long-standing grievances. While BJP lauded the Union govt's move, JMM and Congress have condemned it. Rajiv Sharma, the president of the Jharia Bachao Samiti, criticised the Centre and said, "The people of Jharia have paid a heavy price for a problem they did not create. It is a complete injustice not only to the legal title holders but also to the non-legal title holders residing in the fire-affected zone."

JMM, BJP trade barbs over Emergency days
1 2 3 Ranchi: As the nation marked the 50th year of the Emergency on Wednesday, both ruling and opposition camps in Jharkhand took potshots at each other with claims and counter-claims. While BJP held several programmes to observe the day and apprise people about the "black day", ruling JMM maintained that the nation has been going through an "undeclared emergency" since 2014. Addressing the media, JMM's central general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said, "We all know what happened 50 years ago when the Emergency was clamped on this day. Since then, the country has seen and risen over various odds and emerged stronger. However, what the nation needs to ponder now is how it has been thrust into an undeclared emergency since the Narendra Modi govt came to power in 2014." Citing a slew of incidents, he said, "On Nov 8, 2016, at 8 pm, economic emergency was imposed in the country in the form of demonetisation, which had a spiralling effect on the people, leading to deaths and job losses among others. Will the PM and his party answer what day should be observed for their misadventures? They said demonetisation will end terrorism, corruption and so on. Why is the country still facing terror strikes?" Bhattacharya also claimed that the Covid-19 pandemic, three farm laws and mass suspension of opposition leaders from Parliament over the years were just examples of the BJP-led NDA's attempts to choke voices of dissent. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo BJP's organisational secretary Karmveer Singh, however, said, "They have no right to speak. Illegal B'deshis damads: Giriraj; BJP spreading lies, says JMM
Jamshedpur: Union textile minister accused the state govt of giving special treatment to illegal migrants from Bangladesh. The immigrants are being treated as special guests and enjoying the privilege of damad (son-in-law), he claimed. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Instead of taking steps to check the illegal migration of Bangladeshis, the govt is welcoming them with open arms and treating them as damads," said Singh. The minister, who was on a visit to the city on Monday to attend a college function, said that Hemant Soren wants to make Jharkhand a model of present-day West Bengal. "He (Hemant) is following Mamata Banerjee and will turn Jharkhand into (a second) Bengal, while Mamata is on the way to make Bengal a second Bangladesh," said the BJP leader. Claiming that 13 districts in the state are witnessing an increasing change in the demography due to the growing population of illegal Bangladeshis, the minister said that former CM was compelled to quit JMM on discovering the stark reality about the demographic changes in the state. "Champai Soren joined BJP to prevent Jharkhand from becoming Bengal," Giriraj said. Jamai tolas are rapidly increasing in the state with the patronage of the tribal CM. The indigenous community population will not exist if unauthorised migration continues in the state, the minister further said. The MP from Begusarai in Bihar said that the NDA will form the govt in his home state under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in the upcoming assembly elections. Hitting back, JMM MLA Samir Mohanty said, "BJP leaders are experts in spreading canard. Bangladeshi illegal immigrants' infiltration into the state is an unfounded allegation. The minister should rather question Union home minister Amit Shah on how people from Bangladesh are infiltrating into India despite security on the international border being so tight."
