Tent cities, laser shows for pilgrims
Tent cities have been set up along the route with essential facilities, including accommodation, drinking water, toilets, kanwar stands and entertainment.
The tent city capacities are 200 beds in Sultanganj, 600 in Abaraka (Banka), and 200 each in Khaira (Munger) and Dhobai. All are equipped with drinking water, electricity, sanitation, and cleaning services. Cultural programmes will run throughout the mela.
"In a first, the tourism department is providing facilities between Pahleja and Baba Garibnath Temple," the release said. A German hangar tent city for 500 people has been established near Pahleja Ghat, and a waterproof tent city accommodating 1,000 has been built at RDS College, Muzaffarpur. Additional 200-capacity tents are set up in Goraul and Bithauli (Vaishali) and Turki (Muzaffarpur).
All sites have fans, coolers, chairs, CCTV surveillance, and security.
Bamboo kanwar stands and LED TV-equipped tourist information centres have also been installed. These centres will broadcast live and recorded content about Bihar Tourism and include public announcement systems.
Medical facilities will be available at major points, and a toll-free helpline (18003037677) has been issued for Mela-related queries. Twelve temporary tourist information centres will be operational between Sultanganj and Dumma, offering free brochures and updates.
A Ganga Aarti will be performed at Sultanganj and a laser show depicting Lord Shiva's life will feature in both the opening and closing ceremonies.

Amarnath Yatra In J&K Suspended From Tomorrow Due To Adverse Weather Conditions
Last Updated: The yatra began on July 3 and was scheduled to conclude on August 9 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. However, authorities decided to shorten it by a week due to heavy rainfall. The annual Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir will come to an end on Sunday (August 3), a week before it was supposed to end, due to heavy rainfall and its impact on the yatra route, which will now require maintenance. The yatra began on July 3 and was scheduled to conclude on August 9 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. However, authorities decided to shorten it by a week, citing 'critical repair and maintenance works" to be undertaken in the wake of the heavy rainfall. 'Due to recent heavy rainfall and the need for track maintenance along both the Baltal and Pahalgam axes of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra route, the yatra movement has been closed on both the tracks," Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, said in a statement. Bidhuri said over 4.10 lakh pilgrims visited the holy cave shrine. However, he said that 'due to the continued deployment of men and machinery on the tracks from tomorrow, we would not be able to resume the yatra. The yatra will therefore remain suspended from 3rd August onwards from both the routes." Torrential rains in Kashmir had rendered the roads unsafe, following which the pilgrimage was suspended on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes late last month. On July 17, the yatra was suspended due to heavy rains at the twin base camps in Kashmir. A woman pilgrim died while three others sustained injuries on July 16 in a landslide incident along the Baltal route of the Amarnath Yatra in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Four pilgrims were washed downhill by a landslide at Railpathri along the Baltal axis to the holy cave. This year, following a major terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the government deployed the highest number of troops ever for the annual yatra. In addition to the already extensive security presence in Kashmir, around 600 extra companies of paramilitary forces were assigned specifically for duties. The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of about 3,888 meters in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir. The cave houses a naturally formed ice Shivling, believed to represent Lord Shiva, and draws lakhs of devotees every year. Shri Amaranth Yatra 2025 Suspended Due To Heavy Rainfall
Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, an annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir, has been suspended from August 3, 2025, due to heavy rainfall and the urgent need for track maintenance on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, said authorities. Furthermore, only holy mace worship will be done on Raksha Bandhan (August 9). The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, announced that critical repair and maintenance works are required due to the damage caused by heavy rainfall. The deployment of personnel and machinery for these repairs makes it impossible to continue the Yatra, leading to its suspension from August 3, on both routes. Officials said, 'Torrential rains in Kashmir have rendered the pilgrimage routes unsafe, causing damage that necessitates immediate repair and maintenance. The rains have affected both the Baltal and Pahalgam axes, with conditions worsening over recent days.' The Baltal route was briefly resumed on this route on July 31 but was suspended again due to continued adverse weather. While the Pahalgam route has been under maintenance since July 30, no pilgrim movement has been allowed due to unsafe conditions. No convoy movement was permitted from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu to the Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camps in Kashmir, effective from July 31, 2025, and continuing during the suspension period. More than 4.10 lakh devotees have visited the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnath this year, compared to 5.10 lakh pilgrims last year, indicating a high turnout despite weather challenges. The 38-day pilgrimage began on July 3 and was scheduled to conclude on August 9. However, the holy mace of Lord Shiva (Charri Mubarak), carried by Mahant Deependra Giri, will begin its journey from Srinagar's Amareshwar Temple on August 4 and reach the cave shrine on August 9 for the concluding rituals, marking the end of the Yatra on August 9.
