Waqf board clears lease of 2,000 cr Guntur land

The land, valued at approximately 2,000 crore, will be sub-leased by APIIC to private industries.
The waqf board chairman Abdul Azeez defended the move saying that that they were not selling the land to APIIC in order to protect the land title. The board has resolved to give the land on long-term lease to APIIC. "We are giving the land on lease without changing ownership and title. Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has instructed us to ensure that board earns steady income to take up welfare activities for the minorities," said Abdul Azeez.
Sources said the state got had directed the waqf board to transfer the land to APIIC to avoid controversy over direct allocation to private entities. However, some board members expressed strong opposition, arguing that leasing the land is tantamount to losing it permanently. "It will be extremely difficult to reclaim the land once leased, especially if tenants default on rent," said board member and YSRCP MLC Mohammed Ruhulla.
Board chairman Abdul Azeez turned down the charge saying that they would take all possible measures to protect the land title. He alleged that the previous YSRCP govt had failed to help waqf board make revenue even from the central schemes. He alleged that previous regime diverted 386 crore of Waqf funds.

"If a large share of these investments comes to AP, our state will become another Singapore," he added. Lokesh assured the Telugu community in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jakarta and Bali that the government is there to support them in any hardship. "Through APNRT, we are not only resolving your issues but also working to protect our Telugu language, culture, and traditions," he said. He lauded the enthusiasm of the Telugu community in Singapore. "From landing at the airport to this diaspora meeting, wherever I look, I see Telugu people. I wondered if I was in Singapore or Simhachalam," he quipped. He playfully redefined the term NRI. "Everyone calls you NRIs, or Non-Resident Indians. But in my heart, you are always MRIs – Most Reliable Indians." Lokesh asserted that the TDP was founded for the self-respect of Telugus, which was upheld by the legendary actor and Sarvabhouma, late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. He stated that with the Quantum Valley, the world will look towards AP. "Giants like TCS, Cognizant, ANSR, Satva, Sify, and Google are coming to AP. Prestigious educational institutions like SRM, VIT, and Amrita have already arrived, and BITS Pilani will soon be joining them." He highlighted skill development programmes to help people seize opportunities abroad. "We will also encourage MSME companies, as 80 percent of jobs worldwide come from MSMEs." He shared that Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran stated that 35 per cent of TCS employees are Telugus, which is why they are coming to AP.

Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has said that his visit to Singapore has been planned to undo the gross blunders committed by the previous YSRCP regime. He said that Andhra Pradesh 's global image was badly hit due to YSRCP's unruly policies and corrupt practices. Naidu made an emotional appeal to Telugu diaspora to invest in Andhra Pradesh to bring it on to development track. Naidu on Sunday addressed a mammoth gathering of over 2,500 people of the Telugu diaspora from Southeast Asia in Singapore. Telugu people from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia atended the event. He remarked that Telugu people have adapted to the changing global scenarios. He said that the reforms brought by the TDP-led governments have transformed the lives of Telugu people. Naidu said that the Singapore government prepared a master plan for Amaravati for free following his personal request. He said he had entrusted the construction of the seed capital Singapore govt after seeing their amazing performance in construction of townships in many countries. 1 2 Vijayawada: HRD and IT minister Nara Lokesh called upon the Singapore-based Telugu diaspora to promote investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. He described Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as Most-Reliable Indians (MRIs) as their role in the development of the homeland is significant. Speaking at the Telugu diaspora meeting organised by APNRT in Singapore on Sunday, Minister Lokesh emphasised that foreign investments are crucial to India's economy. He said that India received a total of Rs 6.73 lakh crore in foreign direct investments during the 2024-25 fiscal year, with approximately Rs 1.24 lakh crore coming from Singapore. He said that this accounts for 19% of the total FDI. "The global trust in Chandrababu Naidu is our investment. CBN (Chandrababu Naidu) is our brand. Let's promote the opportunities in our state to attract investments," Lokesh urged. Lokesh lauded the Telugu community's influence abroad, stating that NRIs are India's brand ambassadors. He urged all NRIs to partner in the state's development. "If a significant portion of the investments come to Andhra Pradesh, our state will become another Singapore," said Lokesh.
