Sam Fender's People Watching is biggest-selling album released this year

People Watching became Fender's third number one album when it came out in February, with sales soaring as the North Shields-born singer played a series of sold-out shows in the North West last month.
Meanwhile, another singer-songwriter – US star Alex Warren – has overtaken British star Lola Young as the artist with the UK's biggest song of the year so far.
His song Ordinary has enjoyed a total of 1.09 million chart sales and been streamed 128 million times since its February release.
It spent 12 weeks at number one, making him the US artist with the most consecutive weeks at number one in Official Singles Chart history.
Close behind is Young with her self-proclaimed 'ADHD anthem' Messy, which has had 113 million streams and more than 33,000 downloads, making it the most-downloaded track of the year so far.
Fresh from her Glastonbury headlining slot on the Other Stage, Charli XCX also makes it into the top 10 best-selling albums of the year so far, with BRAT in ninth place.
Just ahead is Elton John, with his Diamonds greatest hits collection in eighth place.
Espresso singer Sabrina Carpenter's sixth studio album continues to have the most sales of the year so far.
The album Short N' Sweet was released last year and last month broke the record by holding the longest consecutive streak in the top five UK album chart – with 43 consecutive weeks.
She surpassed Ed Sheeran who previously held the title with 42 weeks for his album =, released in 2021.
Fleetwood Mac's ever-popular collection 50 Years – Don't Stop lands at number four with 173,000 chart sales so far this year.
The UK's biggest songs and albums of 2025 so far was revealed by the Official Charts Company on Wednesday.
Fender's People Watching has achieved 120,000 pure sales, while it is the most popular physical album too, selling 115,000 copies on physical formats.
While it is the best-selling album to be released this year, it is in third place for sales overall – behind Carpenter's Short N' Sweet and Sheeran, for +–=÷× (Tour Collection), both of which were released last year.

Clare Balding forced to make live BBC apology to angry Novak Djokovic viewers

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info BBC Wimbledon presenter Clare Balding was forced to apologise to viewers after the channel lost pictures halfway through Novak Djokovic's clash with Dan Evans on Thursday afternoon. The seven-time Wimbledon champion cruised to victory against his British opponent on Centre Court, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 in a dominant straight sets triumph. The Serbian star will now face compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round of the men's singles on Friday, with another Grand Slam win in his sights. But while those tuning in on the BBC were treated to watching Djokovic, by his own admission, "at he top of [his] game", they were left fuming as they were forced to miss an entire game towards the end of the second set. As Evans began serving at the start of the seventh game of the set, the BBC's pictures turned away from the action on Centre Court with viewers instead shown a general view of tennis fans milling around the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The pictures then cut out completely, with the screen turning grey and then blue for a few seconds, before cutting to the hundreds of fans assembled on 'Murray Mound' to watch the action. While this was happening, viewers could hear what was going on in the match between Djokovic and Evans, but couldn't see anything as the British star won what would prove to be his fifth and final game of the afternoon. In total, the disruption lasted for nearly three-and-a-half minutes, with fans taking to social media to voice their frustration over the technical glitch. "Thanks for making us miss a whole game of the Djokovic/Evans match during set two," wrote one. "What the hell happened to the on court pictures!? I don't pay my extortionate TV license bill for that!!" Another added: "Anyone watching the monitors? No pictures on BBC1 or BBC2. No apology from commentators." Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Come on BBC, sort your pictures out." After Djokovic claimed the 99th win of his Wimbledon career with a ruthless third set performance, Balding took the opportunity to apologised to viewers for the issues which had occurred nearly 45 minutes earlier. "Apologies for the technical issues we had earlier which meant that you lost pictures for a few moments," said the BBC presenter. "[It is] just beyond our control, but we're trying to fix it and it does at least mean we can continue to show you live tennis, and we will certainly do that." Speaking after his victory, Djokovic said: "A Brit in Britain is never easy to face. He is… 'tricky' is not a great word but he is a good quality player that possesses a lot of talent, a great touch. "He can cause you trouble if you are not on top of your game, which I think I was from the very beginning. I knew I was preparing well. I knew what I needed to do and executed perfectly." As his self-confidence drew laughter from the crowd, he added: "That was not for me, it was for my coach! I was just sending him a message in case he didn't see it well."

Tommy Fury offered big money by Jake Paul for rematch after Tyson Fury text

Paul has offered Tommy Fury $5million to try and get their rematch over the line after the 'Gypsy King' sent him a desperate text to try and make the fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has offered bitter rival Tommy Fury $5million (£4m) in a bid to make the rematch official. The pair initially squared off in 2023 after years of trading barbs. Despite dropping Fury in the final round of the contest, Paul ended up losing the bout on the judges' scorecards. Both men have been in an ongoing verbal tussle over a second meeting since their first encounter, but an agreement has not been reached yet. ‌ With talks over a potential rematch heating up, Tyson Fury – Tommy Fury's older brother – has even reached out to the 'Problem Child.' Speaking with Seconds Out, the 'Gypsy King' said: "I hoped they would. I've even texted Jake Paul to say 'what's going on do you want to get it on with Tommy and make the fight happen. I just think there's a lot of egos involved in boxing. It's a lot of 'he said this, she said that, I want this, I want that'. When things like that happen, it's difficult to make fights as you've seen over the years." ‌ In response to Fury's viral interview comments, Paul's business associate Nakisa Bidarian took to X – the formerly known as Twitter – making it public knowledge that Tyson had indeed messaged Jake. Bidarian confirmed: "I can confirm he did text Jake and say you and Tommy need the rematch. I can also confirm Jake responded that said he offered Tommy $5million and he's not getting that money from anyone else", reports All Out Fighting. Paul, 28, is hoping for a busy 2025 in the ring following his return to action last weekend. The 'Problem Child' squared off against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in his first bout since beating Mike Tyson last November. From start to finished, the young American dominated proceedings and eventually won the clash on points. Just moments after the win, Paul did not hesitate to challenge a wide range of fighters, including cruiserweight champions Gilberto Ramirez and Badou Jack, as well as Fury. But it was Nakisa Bidarian, Paul's business partner, who later elaborated on this ambitious lineup. "I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion. Zurdo looked slow as s*** tonight. That'd be easy work, too," Paul confidently proclaimed. "Badou Jack. I want everybody. Anthony Joshua, Gervonta. And Tommy, stop running. I'm hustling, getting warmed up. You've already seen my face, get used to seeing it more." Pressed about when he'll step back into the ring, he declared: "As soon as possible. I'm staying active, I'm fighting everybody." Casting light on Paul's future plans, Bidarian pinpointed a rematch with Fury - aiming to avenge his previous 2023 loss to the British star. "If it's not for the title, then it's looking at Tommy, if he's reasonable, then Anthony Joshua. He's adamant he wants to make that fight happen at the end of 2026, and we're set to pow-wow with Matchroom when we're in New York for the most epic trilogy in boxing history - Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor 3."

Stop crying your heart out—for Oasis have returned to the stage

|5 min read IT IS THE moment rock fans thought would never happen. On July 4th Oasis, the greatest British band of their generation, will go on stage for the first time in 16 years. Such a thing seemed impossible given the group's spectacular combustion in 2009, after a fight between Liam Gallagher, the lead singer, and his brother, Noel, the main songwriter. In the intervening years the siblings fired shots at each other in the press and on social media. (Noel famously described Liam as 'the angriest man you'll ever meet. He's like a man with a fork in a world of soup.') But now, they claim, 'The guns have fallen silent.'
