Stop crying your heart out—for Oasis have returned to the stage

IT IS THE moment rock fans thought would never happen. On July 4th Oasis, the greatest British band of their generation, will go on stage for the first time in 16 years. Such a thing seemed impossible given the group's spectacular combustion in 2009, after a fight between Liam Gallagher, the lead singer, and his brother, Noel, the main songwriter. In the intervening years the siblings fired shots at each other in the press and on social media. (Noel famously described Liam as 'the angriest man you'll ever meet. He's like a man with a fork in a world of soup.') But now, they claim, 'The guns have fallen silent.'

Andrew Garfield attends seventh day of Wimbledon Championships

The actor was seen sitting next to American actress Monica Barbaro as they watched the match between Sonay Kartal and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Centre Court on Sunday. The 41-year-old is best known for starring in The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as playing Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network while Barbaro is known for portraying Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown. He recently starred alongside British actress Florence Pugh in the romance drama, We Live In Time. He was among other familiar faces who were in attendance at the tennis tournament including British actor Tosin Cole. Sitting in the Royal Box were Olympic swimming champions Duncan Scott, Matt Richards, and James Guy. Former swimming champion Mark Foster was also seen in the Royal Box along with Trinidadian former international cricketer, Brian Lara. Spectators were met with a cloudy start to the day followed by some light rain with some taking shelter under umbrellas and ponchos. The rain was seen to interrupt Carlos Alcaraz's practice before his match against Russian Andrey Rublev who has won one of their previous three meetings – on the clay in Madrid last year – and has powered his way through to the fourth round at Wimbledon for the third time. Meanwhile, on Court One spectators can expect to see Aryna Sabalenka who will face Elise Mertens later today.

Liam and Noel ‘staying in separate hotels' on Oasis tour

Noel and Liam Gallagher stayed at different hotels 20 miles apart on the first two nights of the Oasis reunion tour, it has been claimed. The Oasis frontmen put years of mutual animosity behind them to perform together in Cardiff on Friday and Saturday to 75,000 fans at the Principality Stadium. After the gigs ended, however, the brothers travelled to separate hotels, MailOnline reported. When Oasis's two-hour long gig ended on Friday night, Liam left the stage immediately and got into a black SUV. Noel, meanwhile, remained on the stage and waved to fans before walking off with the rest of the band. Liam, 52, is said to have booked the Celtic Manor Resort, which is located on the edge of Newport. Meanwhile, Noel, 58, stayed at the Parkgate Hotel, a four-star venue next to the Principality Stadium. Last month, the hotel suggested on TikTok it might be hosting one of the brothers. 'Rumour has it a certain rock 'n' roll star is checking in ahead of the big gig at the Principality,' a spokesman said at the time. He is said to have stayed at the hotel with his daughter, Anaïs Gallagher, a 25-year-old model who also attended the gig. It is unclear whether the brothers' separate hotel bookings were down to tensions in the band. 'The atmosphere was absolutely electric and Liam and Noel were delighted with the first night,' a source told The Sun on Sunday. 'They were a bit shell-shocked. It went better than anyone could have imagined. The lead-up has all been carefully orchestrated, as everyone knows how delicate and fragile Liam and Noel's relationship is. 'They don't want to over-expose themselves to each other. Having separate residences is the best option so they can relax in their own space.' Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, however, another source said: 'They can't stand each other because they still have not forgiven each other. It's all very frosty and awkward. We all doubt they'll make it to Australia at this rate.' As the show began shortly after 8pm, the Gallagher brothers walked onstage side-by-side before clasping their hands together in the air. For the rest of the set, however, the pair stood about 30ft apart and interacted little. Oasis broke up in 2009 after a backstage altercation between Noel and Liam at the Rock en Seine festival near Paris. In the years since, the former bandmates traded insults in public, with Liam deriding his brother as a 'potato'. Last August, they announced that 'the guns have fallen silent' and that they would reform to play a tour in 2025. Its 41 sold-out shows will see the band appear in Britain, America, Australia and South America. According to analysis by Birmingham City University, it could make Oasis £400 million from ticket sales and merchandise.

My chinwags with the Oasis brothers: what Noel and Liam Gallagher told me

O asis are back, and I'm cashing in. Cashing in socially, anyway. I haven't (yet) found a way to monetise the fact I have interviewed (separately, eight years apart) both Gallagher brothers. A lot of my colleagues weren't even born in 1995 and were only dimly aware until the reunion was announced of who Oasis were. But they know who they are now, that's for damned sure, because they're the hottest ticket of the summer. There is considerable cachet in being able to say airily, 'What? Old Noel and Liam? Yeah, bagged them both back in the day. One-on-one sit-downs, face-to-face. None of your Zoom nonsense in those days, dear me no.' I tend to gloss over the fact that I had met Noel in 2001 and Liam in 2009 respectively, a few and many years past their (What's the Story) Morning Glory?/Knebworth/feud with Blur heyday.
