Arizona hiker Hannah Moody's body found off trail day after she was reported missing
The body of a hiker was found off a trail in central Arizona Thursday some 16 hours after she was reported missing, Scottsdale police say, calling it a "heartbreaking development."
The department says an investigation into Hannah Moody's death is underway, though there are "no obvious signs of foul play or trauma at this point."

According to Scottsdale police, Moody's body was spotted at about 12:05 p.m. near the Gateway Trailhead of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale. She was first reported missing at around 7:50 the evening before by friends who got concerned because they hadn't heard from her.
Responding officers found her vehicle in the parking lot. Attempts "to reach her by phone or ping her cellphone were unsuccessful. Officers began search efforts on foot, with drones and assistance from a Phoenix Police Department helicopter," Scottsdale police said.
The search went on until about 11:30 p.m., when it was suspended for the evening.
It resumed in the morning "with 20-plus officers on bicycles, on foot, with drones, and with the assistance of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office search and rescue team and air unit," Scottsdale police said. "Other individuals showed up and assisted with the search efforts as well. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Air Unit located Hannah's body around 12:05 p.m., about 600 yards off-trail."
Scottsdale detectives and crime scene personnel are carrying out a thorough probe to try to figure out what happened to Hannah and how she died. The Maricopa County medical examiner's office will attempt to determine the cause of death.

Police are investigating the deaths of two women who were found shot inside a Phoenix apartment June 26. Phoenix police rescue baby left alone for days after mother dies
A baby who was left alone for days in a Phoenix, Arizona, apartment was rescued by police officers last month after the infant's mother had died, officials said Friday. Phoenix police said they received a call from a neighbor on the morning of May 14 to check on a woman who had recently given birth, but who had not been heard from for several days. Bodycam footage released by the Phoenix Police Department show officers looking through the apartment's unlocked window, which is when the officers saw the woman lying on the floor, police said. They forced the apartment door open and rescued the baby who was "laying on the bed visibly emaciated." Father of suspect brings son to Leesburg police after fatal shooting
A man was fatally shot Friday evening in Leesburg and while investigators were at the scene the father of the suspect brought his son to the Police Department where he turned himself in. Kameryn A. Pickard, 18, of Mount Dora, was arrested on charges including premeditated murder, according to a news release from the Leesburg Police Department. He remains in the Lake County Jail without bond. Around 7 p.m. police responded to the 1000 block of Tuskegee Street in reference to a person who had been shot, the agency said. Upon arrival, officers and EMS personnel rendered aid to 20-year-old Dontae D. Copeland, of Leesburg, who was subsequently transported to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, the release stated. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. The agency said detectives and Leesburg Crime Scene investigators arrived at the scene to begin the investigation and process evidence. While they were there Pickard's father brought his son to the Police Department. Detectives conducted an interview with Pickard and subsequently arrested in, the release stated. Detectives are working with the State Attorney's Office to determine appropriate charges. Police said the crime scene remains active as detectives continue seeking witnesses, video surveillance and other evidence.
