Drake angers fans after cancelling Manchester gig last minute
Drake has left fans in Manchester fuming after cancelling his show at the city's Co-Op Live. The Hotline Bling hitmaker, 38, was set to play his third show at the venue tomorrow as part of his $OME $PECIAL $HOWS 4 U tour. However, the Canadian rapper will no longer perform the gig due to 'unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics' per a statement shared by the venue. The message, shared on the Co-Op Live website, reads: 'Due to unforeseen ferry schedules and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28 has been rescheduled,' reports the Manchester Evening News. 'The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. All tickets remain valid for the new date – we can't wait to see you there!' Per the Ticketmaster website, those who cannot make the rescheduled date will be able to get their ticket refunded in full, which can be requested via their Ticketmaster account. Following his Manchester dates, the One Dance hitmaker will head over to Amsterdam for a string of shows at the Ziggo Dome. Fans have been quick to air their frustration over the cancellation online, with X user JoshDL796 asking if the whole thing was 'a joke.' CharlieeB_x asked: 'How is Drake using 'logistics' as an excuse to reschedule tomorrow nights show in Manchester when he's already here?' Josh Lax said they would 'never listen to him again' while Georgina Kritik dubbed the artist 'lame' for using travel issues as an excuse. 'Extended my unpaid leave in Dubai to stay in Manchester so I could see Drake on 28th July just for him to cancel last minute and say he's got travel problems my brother you are in the city wtfym!' Hassan said. The tour kicked off in Birmingham following Drake's performance at Wireless Festival. It comes as the musician's feud with Kendrick Lamar rumbles on, announcing legal action against the latter earlier this year. It has been reported that Drake, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, is suing UMG for spreading the a 'false and malicious narrative'. More Trending It stems from Kendrick's hit song Not Like Us which contains lyrics that read: 'Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young,' and 'Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him.' The artwork released with the single is an aerial shot of Drake's mansion with sex offender targets overlaid. TMZ reported that the suit claims the song's lyrics are filled with 'inflammatory and shocking allegations' and claims that UMG had an ulterior motive when it came to promoting Kendrick's tune. Drake's announcement that he was set to perform at Wireless was his first major news since Kendrick's Super Bowl half-time performance, in which he played Not Like Us live. Got a story? Drake at Manchester's Co-op Live: timings, set list, last-minute tickets and everything you need to know
Before his shows at London's Wireless Festival earlier this month, it had been more than six years and a worldwide pandemic since Drake's UK fans last saw him live. But now the wait is finally over. The rapper has made a mega return to our shores with his $ome $pecial $hows 4 UK Tour, and after three nights in Birmingham, he's now bringing the show to Manchester. The tour is inspired by the collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which Drake created alongside fellow Canadian musician PARTYNEXTDOOR, who is coming along for the ride and will feature each night of the tour. Drake is set to play three huge nights at the Co-op Live in Manchester this weekend, and, based on his Birmingham shows, you can expect to hear hit after hit. Here's everything you need to know about upcoming Drake's Manchester gigs. When is Drake playing Co-op live? The 'Hotline Bling' rapper is playing three dates at the Co-op Live on July 25, 26, and 28. What time do doors open? General admission doors will open at 7pm, but members of the Co-op backstage club will be able to enter an hour earlier at 6pm. VIP ticket holders who are entitled to premium entry will be allowed in at 6.30pm through the Premium doors. What time will Drake come on stage? The support will likely begin at 8.15pm, with Drake finally taking to the stage at around 9.15pm. That's based on timings from his Birmingham dates, so they could be slightly different. It's worth arriving in plenty of time to make sure you don't accidentally miss your favourite tune. Who is supporting Drake in Manchester? As we mentioned earlier, this whole tour is in celebration of a collaborative project between Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, who will be his support for all six dates. PND is a Canadian rapper who was the first person ever to be signed to Drake's record label, so he comes very highly commended by the big man himself. What's the seating plan? Here's the seating plan for Drake's shows at the Co-Op live, including an unconventional stage setup: Setlist The setlist could change, but here is the full setlist from the Birmingham shows, including four songs which feature PARTYNEXTDOOR: Marvin's Room Teenage Fever Passionfruit Jungle What Did I Miss? Headlines Know Yourself Nonstop SICKO MODE (Travis Scott cover) No Face Circadian Rhythm Laugh Now Cry Later God's Plan In My Feelings Nice for What Controlla Find Your Love Hold On, We're Going Home One Dance Who Told You (J Hus cover) CN TOWER (with PARTYNEXTDOOR) DIE TRYING (with PARTYNEXTDOOR) SOMEBODY LOVES ME (with PARTYNEXTDOOR) Come and See Me (with PARTYNEXTDOOR) Girls Want Girls Fancy Love Me (Lil Wayne cover) Hours in Silence Rich Baby Daddy You Broke My Heart Knife Talk Rich Flex IDGAF Hotline Bling NOKIA Yebba's Heartbreak Can you still get tickets? If you were too slow to get tickets when they went on sale last month, you're in luck: there's still quite a few available for all three nights. The best availability is on Monday July 28, so if there's somewhere specific you'd like to sit that night is your best bet. There are standing and seating tickets to choose from each day on Ticketmaster here and Stubhub here. As always, make sure everything is legit when buying from resale sites. What's Co-op Live's bag policy? Everyone is welcome to bring one back each to the Co-op live, but that's it. Your bag also has to be small – A4 size or smaller – and backpacks, travel cases, laptop bags and large tote bags are will not be allowed inside. Banned items As you probably expect, you can't just bring anything into the arena. Obviously, explosives and sharp objects are banned, but there are a few things you might not have thought of, like large umbrellas, which you aren't allowed. Here's a non-exhaustive list of banned items from the Co-Op live: Horns Whistles Drums Flagpoles Large umbrellas Laptops iPads GoPros The venue also states it will confiscate 'any other item which in our reasonable opinion, may cause danger or disruption to any event or to other visitors (regardless of whether such item is illegal or is carried for specific purposes)'. You can find the full list of banned items here.
