Drake angers fans after cancelling Manchester gig last minute
The Hotline Bling hitmaker, 38, was set to play his third show at the venue tomorrow as part of his $OME $PECIAL $HOWS 4 U tour.
However, the Canadian rapper will no longer perform the gig due to 'unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics' per a statement shared by the venue.
The message, shared on the Co-Op Live website, reads: 'Due to unforeseen ferry schedules and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28 has been rescheduled,' reports the Manchester Evening News.
'The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. All tickets remain valid for the new date – we can't wait to see you there!'
Per the Ticketmaster website, those who cannot make the rescheduled date will be able to get their ticket refunded in full, which can be requested via their Ticketmaster account. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMjCEEFqJZe/?hl=en
Following his Manchester dates, the One Dance hitmaker will head over to Amsterdam for a string of shows at the Ziggo Dome.
Fans have been quick to air their frustration over the cancellation online, with X user JoshDL796 asking if the whole thing was 'a joke.'
CharlieeB_x asked: 'How is Drake using 'logistics' as an excuse to reschedule tomorrow nights show in Manchester when he's already here?'
Josh Lax said they would 'never listen to him again' while Georgina Kritik dubbed the artist 'lame' for using travel issues as an excuse.
'Extended my unpaid leave in Dubai to stay in Manchester so I could see Drake on 28th July just for him to cancel last minute and say he's got travel problems my brother you are in the city wtfym!' Hassan said.
The tour kicked off in Birmingham following Drake's performance at Wireless Festival.
It comes as the musician's feud with Kendrick Lamar rumbles on, announcing legal action against the latter earlier this year.
It has been reported that Drake, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, is suing UMG for spreading the a 'false and malicious narrative'. More Trending
It stems from Kendrick's hit song Not Like Us which contains lyrics that read: 'Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young,' and 'Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him.'
The artwork released with the single is an aerial shot of Drake's mansion with sex offender targets overlaid.
TMZ reported that the suit claims the song's lyrics are filled with 'inflammatory and shocking allegations' and claims that UMG had an ulterior motive when it came to promoting Kendrick's tune.
Drake's announcement that he was set to perform at Wireless was his first major news since Kendrick's Super Bowl half-time performance, in which he played Not Like Us live.

Sydney Sweeney has saved advertising
I'm only surprised it's taken so long. And that anyone could possibly be surprised by it. 'Beautiful girl appears in ad campaign for fashion brand' is hardly a revolutionary concept and yet, since Sydney Sweeney appeared in a new campaign for American Eagle and lit up the internet, there's been quite a lot of confected surprise, shock and outrage. How could a brand use a beautiful woman to sell jeans in 2025? The question they should be asking is how could this not happen? The reason the American Eagle ad is unusual is that in recent years the advertising industry, once famed for its glamour and beauty, has been colonised by pompous, po-faced pearl-clutchers. Now a new generation of advertisers is finally rebelling against the stifling sanctimony of their elders. They've grown tired of brands pretending to be holier than thou, more socially aware than thou in their disingenuous attempts to be more profitable than thou. Let's face it, customers were never looking for the Co-op to solve climate change or for Maltesers to tackle the issue of post-natal depression. A return to common sense and clarity of purpose was long overdue. So Sydney Sweeney selling jeans in such a simple, clear and stylish way may well appal the pompous, joyless old guard of advertising but it's cheered and delighted the rest of us. This is how advertising always used to work: it used truth, beauty, humour and intelligence to sell things. The Levi's ads of the 1980s were a perfect example. This forgotten and deeply unfashionable brand were practically dead and buried until BBH enlisted Nick Kamen and the then-unknown Brad Pitt to put them on (and take them off) during the ad breaks. Ditto Diet Coke. It was seen as weak and unappealing before a hench looking hunk removed his shirt to enjoy a can, ogled by a gaggle of office workers. And yet for years, we've been told that people would rather see themselves reflected on screen, no matter how out of shape and let's just say, 'plain' they are. This is not true and never has been. I can think of few things worse than seeing someone who looks like me on screen because – especially when I was younger – it would have denied me that feeling of aspiration so vital to the success of a fashion brand. I was never mistaken in the street for Nick Kamen or Brad Pitt and yet I remember that great feeling of glamour-by-proxy that came with my first pair of 501s. This is how advertising works. And for American Eagle, it's working brilliantly. Sydney Sweeney is selling so much denim that their share price has leapt 15 per cent, adding around $400 million to the value of the company. Making her the face and body of the brand was a stroke of genius. American Eagle's most ferocious critics know this and it's driven them to derangement. Because the endline of the ad simply says 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans' and 'jeans' is a pun on 'genes', there are mad people online making quite disgraceful comments. Sidney Sweeney is white, they claim, so this is a campaign, not for jeans, but for white supremacy. These claims are so vile, they're almost laughable but they typify a miserable movement in its death throes. If Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle herald advertising's return to wit, beauty and actually selling things, everyone reading this should say 'Hip Hip Hooray!' The industry will once again attract smart, funny and creative people who'll restore its social significance and cultural clout. But don't think for a moment that I adore these ads because I think Sydney Sweeney is sexy. Please – she's the same age as my daughter. Nope, for me, far the sexiest thing in this whole campaign is the 1966 Ford Mustang GT350 she drives away in.

Richard Ashcroft announces huge tour update after 'nearly outshining Oasis'
Liam Gallagher said it was never a question that Richard Ashcroft would be joining them on tour after their shared history After embarking upon the biggest stadium tour of the year as special guest to Oasis, and selling out Manchester's Co-op Live, Richard Ashcroft today announces additional UK dates due to overwhelming demand. Richard will perform at arenas in Cardiff, Liverpool, London and Leeds in Spring 2026, with tickets on sale at 9.30am on Friday 1st August. The announcement follows the news of the October 3rd release date of his brand new album Lovin' You - his first all-new album since 2018's Natural Rebel and follows 2021's Acoustic Hymns, Vol. 1. Speaking on Radio 2 earlier this month Richard Ashcroft said: 'The album's due in September, just after I finish the dates with Oasis. That'll be coming out in September, and yeah, happy days, we'll see how it goes. I'm buzzing that I'm still here. I'm still making music, people pay me to make music, people pay me to sing live. It's like I can't complain.' Ashcroft has won huge praise from fans after being picked to join Oasis on their huge sell-out Live 25 tour. Speaking after seeing the band play at Wembley Stadium, David Baddiel said the former Verve frontman gave the Gallaghers a run for their money when it came to entertaining the crowd. Noel has even been spotted watching Ashcroft's sets before walking on stage himself. "Oasis were great tonight. But they were nearly outshone by their support, Richard Ashcroft, in incredible voice: still the Scott Walker of Britpop," Baddiel posted to X. "Don't think Richard has ever done a bad show," replied one of his followers. "Magnificent," agreed another, while a third said: "It's the absolute dream lineup. Chris Martin said Richard Ashcroft had the best voice going around. Richard Ashcroft and Oasis playing in 2025. It's what the world needs some GOOD THINGS! I can't wait to see them in Australia. Magic. How special to be at Wembley. Brilliant." Responding to Baddiel's video of Ashcroft singing The Drug's Don't Work, another X user replied: "This was a real moment in Manchester too. Something about that song still felt fresh / in the room as it were. The Oasis tunes being great, but definitely a stronger nostalgic tinge to them." Richard Ashcroft and Oasis share a mutual admiration which dates back to touring together before Oasis first broke through. Drake leaves fans fuming as he reschedules Manchester gig at last minute
Canadian music sensation Drake is in the midst of a European tour with fellow singer PartyNextDoor - but he has angered some fans by suddenly changing concert dates Music fans have been left in despair as Drake has announced his hotly anticipated concert in Manchester this coming week has been cancelled. The 38-year-old Canadian rap star had been due to thrill fans at the Co-Op Arena on Monday night. But on Sunday, news emerged that the concert had to be abruptly cancelled - due to travel disruption. There was good news, however, as fans of Drake were told the gigs would be rescheduled. The concerts, produced by LiveNation and with Ticketmaster handling ticket sales, would be pushed back to early August, meaning fans had less than a week to change plans to see the star at the recently build music and events venue. However, some fans were still let out as they could not change plans to see the musician on his rescheduled dates. Drake is on the road with fellow Canadian singer PartyNextDoor - the stage name of Jahron Brathwaite, 32. The boys have been entertaining their fans with their $OME $PECIAL $HOWS 4 U tour. News of the change to the advertised plans was released on Sunday. Fans turning to the official Co-Op Arena website were met with a notice detailing the rescheduled concert. A notice warned: "Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled." However, it continued: "The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. All tickets remain valid for the new date—we can't wait to see you there!" Further details about the headliner and his concert explained: "Five-time Grammy-award winning and multi-platinum global artist Drake announced his highly anticipated return to Europe and the UK with his $ome $pecial $hows 4 UK EU run kicking off this July. "The run will feature PARTYNEXTDOOR on all dates. Produced by Live Nation. The tour marks Drake's first return to Europe and the UK in six years, following his 2019 Assassination Vacation Tour." The change in dates has left some fans disappointed, however. One responded to the news sadly on Instagram, writing: "I'm so sad came way from New York to see the boy." Many others have taken to social media to try and sell their rescheduled tickets as they are no longer able to attend the gig following the switch up of dates. And Drake has also risked turning some fans against him due to the scheduling shambles. One bitterly hit out on X, writing: "so far drake cancelled/rescheduled 3 shows: manchester, belgium and zurich. who the f**k plans his tour dates and why is it that everytime he goes to europe he either cancels the dates or reschedules!!! people travel from other countries to his concerts!!! this is absurd!" Drake and PartyNextDoor have already played two dates in Manchester and a number of shows in London ahead of the rescheduled dates. They head to Amsterdam next before retuning to Manchester the following week. The duo will remain on the road until late September, playing to crowds in Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and more.
