Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United transfer target Emiliano Martinez for £45million.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper looks set to leave this summer after five years with the Midlands club.
Unai Emery is reluctant to lose the Argentina international but Villa could be forced into a sale in order to meet PSR, according to The Mirror.
Chelsea have chopped and changed goalkeepers over the course of the last few years but are no closer to establishing a No.1.
Robert Sanchez has flattered to deceive since his move from Brighton and has lost his place in the side under both Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca.

Djordje Petrovic impressed briefly stepping in for Sanchez under Pochettino but was loaned out to Strasbourg last season and is likely to complete a permanent move to the French club.
Chelsea spent £24m on Filip Jorgensen 12 months ago, but he too has been unable to convince Maresca he is worthy of becoming the No.1.
United's plans for their goalkeeping department remain unclear, meanwhile, with Andre Onana's future a matter of speculation.
The Cameroon international joined from Inter two years ago for a fee of close to £50m but he has proved an inadequate successor to David de Gea.
A string of high-profile errors has seen United lose faith in the 29-year-old who has been heavily linked with a move.
'Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!' Onana said, according Actu Cameroun, earlier this month with Monaco the latest club to be linked to his services.
United are reported to believe that Martinz would favour a move to Old Trafford but Ruben Amorim's priorities reportedly lie elsewhere.
The Red Devils have already recruited Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are locked in negotiations with Brentford over the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo.
United would also want at least £35m for Onana which has opened the door for Chelsea to make their move.
Villa, for their part, are eyeing up a mvoe for Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens, but there are a number of other clubs tracking the 22-year-old, including United.

He added: 'I have serious fears that players will suffer injuries they've never had before next season. If not next season, then it will happen at the World Cup or afterwards. 'We constantly expect the players to go into every game as if it were their last. We tell them that 70 or 75 times a year. But it can't go on like this. 'We have to make sure they have breaks, because if they don't get them, they won't be able to deliver top performances – and if they can't achieve that any more, the entire product loses value.'
