The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to roll in the transfer portal, landing a commitment Sunday afternoon from one of their top targets in former Miami Hurricanes guard Jalil Bethea.
Bethea is the third transfer portal commitment for Alabama so far this offseason, joined by Bucknell center Noah Williamson and Florida State forward Taylor Bol Bowen.
The former Miami guard started 16-of-31 games for the Hurricanes during the 2024-25 season as a freshman in which he averaged 7.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Bethea also shot 36.8% from the field during the season, as well as 32.6% from three and 82% at the free throw line.
Prior to Miami, Bethea was considered one of the nation's top overall players in the 2024 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 7 overall prospect nationally according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Considered as a five-star prospect, Bethea also ranked as the nation's No. 3 overall shooting guard, as well as the No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania where he attended Archbishop Wood High School.

Former star Alabama cornerback reportedly signs with NFL team
According to a report Saturday from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, former Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Levi Wallace is signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent. Wallace, a seven-year NFL veteran, had yet to sign with a team this offseason, and was among the list of former Alabama players still remaining in free agency. The former Alabama cornerback most recently played with the Denver Broncos during the 2024 season, starting 2-of-13 games played. During that span, Wallace had 28 tackles, which was the lowest total of his career, along with two passes defensed. Over his seven previous seasons in the league, Wallace has compiled 333 career tackles with seven TFL and 12 interceptions across 96 career games, 72 of which he started. Undrafted out of Alabama back in 2018, Jacksonville will also be Wallace's fourth NFL team, joining the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Broncos. 5-star CB Davon Benjamin breaks down why he chose the Oregon Ducks
It's been an eventful summer for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks' recruiting staff, and a successful one, at that. On Saturday afternoon, the Ducks wrapped up one of the best recruiting stretches we've seen in program history, adding their fifth 5-star player to the class with CB Davon Benjamin. The Oaks Christian star now joins the likes of 5-star safety Jett Washington, 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, 5-star tight end Kendre Harrison, and 5-star edge rusher Anthony 'Tank' Jones. The 247Sports Composite ranks Benjamin as the No. 35 player in the 2026 class. After giving his pledge to the Ducks, Benjamin went on the Bussin' With the Boys podcast with Taylor Lewan and Will Compton and offered his reasoning for choosing Oregon. Ultimately, it came down to relationships with the staff. "I chose Oregon just based on the stability part of the coaching staff, how they've been recruiting me ever since my freshman year of high school," Benjamin said. "I'd say just how they approach the day-to-day basis of the little things, just checking in and seeing how I'm doing, seeing if I'm still working. Just keeping me grounded to earth, making sure that I'm doing the right things, really just building that connection with them over time, and them not putting on a facade just because this is a recruiting trip. They've been who they've been from the day I met them, all the way throughout." It doesn't come as a major surprise to hear this, seeing as Lanning has preached "relationships" throughout his time at Oregon when it comes to the recruiting world. It seems to be working well, too, with the Ducks' class now ranking No. 7 in the nation for this cycle, and potentially improving as we get closer to National Signing Day in December. Broncos roster: LB Drew Sanders (No. 41) competing for role on defense
Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year linebacker Drew Sanders, No. 41. Before the : Sanders (6-5, 233 pounds) played in the SEC for the entirety of his college career. Sanders played two years at Alabama from 2020-21, and he knows what it means to come out on top; Sanders won a national championship with the Crimson Tide in 2020. In two years at Alabama, Sanders played in 23 games, recording 33 total tackles (16 solo, 17 assisted, three tackles for loss), three pass deflections and 1.0 sacks. Sanders transferred to Arkansas prior to 2022, and he immediately exploded in production. In 12 games with the Razorbacks, Sanders made 103 total tackles (40 solo, 63 assisted, 14 tackles for loss), 9.5 sacks, five pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception. Sanders' breakout season in 2022 caught the eye of the Denver Broncos, who selected Sanders in the third round (67th overall) of the 2023 NFL draft. Broncos tenure: Sanders dressed for all 17 games in 2023, making four starts, totaling 24 total tackles (13 solo, 11 assisted, one tackle for loss) and one fumble recovery. After missing the beginning of the 2024 season while recovering from an Achilles injury, Sanders returned late in the year and appeared in four games (plus the Broncos' lone playoff game). In limited action, Sanders recorded eight tackles (four solo, four assisted, one tackle for loss) and 1.0 sacks in 2024. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Near certain. Earlier this year, coach Sean Payton specifically referenced Sanders as an "inside linebacker," giving him some position clarity after bouncing between roles over the last two years. The Broncos brought in Dre Greenlaw this spring, but Sanders will still get an opportunity to compete for significant playing time as Alex Singleton is coming off a torn ACL and will turn 32 this season. Sanders isn't a lock to start, but he feels likely to make the active roster and have a key role in 2025. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.
