Alabama lands commitment from local standout, 2026 in-state linebacker
On Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from a local product, as in-state standout Zay Hall announced that he had committed to the program. Hall is the sixth different player to commit to Alabama so far this week, as well as the third within the past two days alongside the four-star duo of Ezavier Crowell and Mack Sutter. At the moment, Hall is currently considered as the nation's No. 1,148 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. A three-star prospect, Hall is also ranked as the nation's No. 127 overall linebacker, as well as the No. 55 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. The three-star prospect is the first linebacker commit in Alabama's class, as well as the fourth from in-state where he is joined by the aforementioned Crowell (Jackson), Zyan Gibson (Gadsden City), and Kamhariyan Johnson (Muscle Shoals). Alabama's class has now cracked the Top 10 of the 247Sports Team Rankings as well, sitting at No. 10 with a total of 13 commitments. Michigan football's 2026 recruiting class soars to top 12 with 5 commits this week
It wasn't that long ago that Michigan football fans were lamenting the fact that you almost had to click 'read more' in order to see where the Wolverines were ranked in the 2026 recruiting team rankings. Even in the month of May, there was a local outcry as the maize and blue had just a handful of commits, seemingly languishing behind a series of also-rans. Oh, how things change. Perhaps patience was in order? Now here we are, a month later, and fans are celebrating what's turning out to be one of the best classes in the country. The Wolverines got two commitments on Friday, about 15 minutes apart (if that), when Richmond (Va.) Huguenot three-star linebacker Markel Dabney and Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee both pledged to the class. That's adding on to commitments this week from St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet four-star defensive tackle Titan Davis, Mansfield (Tx.) four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson, and Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's four-star offensive tackle Marky Walbridge. Oh, and there are still two or three outstanding commits who have told Sherrone Moore and the program, but haven't announced yet publicly. So, where does Michigan rank now that it's added five commitments in five days? Here's a look at the different recruiting services: We'll have to wait about a month to see where ESPN ranks the maize and blue. With the new rankings update, Michigan has surpassed teams such as Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and LSU (via all the rankings services). Whereas, beforehand, the Wolverines were behind all of them. There are still several top targets that are trending toward the maize and blue who decide soon, such as Richmond (Va.) Hermitage four-star CB Andre Clarke, Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star S Donovan Webb, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star WR Travis Johnson, Fort Worth (Tx.) North Crowley four-star IOL John Turntine III, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern five-star WR Calvin Russell, and Carrollton (Ga.) four-star CB Dorian Barney -- most of whom have at least one prediction that they'll end up in a winged helmet come decision day. Here are all of the current commitments to the class, using 247Sports Composite rankings:

Clemson basketball makes the final 5 choices for 4-star forward Dean Rueckert
Clemson remains firmly in the hunt for one of the top wings out West in the 2026 class. Four-star small forward Dean Rueckert, out of Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, announced his top five schools on Thursday, with the Tigers making the cut alongside BYU, Utah, Stanford, and Washington. Clemson offered Rueckert in late May, and it didn't take long for the Tigers to earn a spot among his finalists. Rueckert is considered one of the most versatile forwards in the West for his class. The 6-foot-6 prospect averaged 18.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game last season, showcasing his ability to score at all three levels while making an impact on the defensive end. He's currently ranked No. 62 nationally in the 247Sports Composite and checks in at No. 24 among small forwards. Clemson head coach Brad Brownell and his staff have quietly made inroads in the 2026 cycle, and Rueckert has emerged as a priority target. As Rueckert moves closer to a decision, the Tigers are positioning themselves as a serious contender for one of the most skilled perimeter players in the class. USC football makes another huge recruiting splash, lands four-star edge rusher Luke Wafle
Stop me if you have heard this one before: USC football just landed another massive recruit. On Thursday morning, the Trojans picked up a commitment from four-star edge rusher Luke Wafle. Wafle is from Princeton, New Jersey. 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 55 overall player and the No. 6 edge rusher in the class of 2026. Advertisement Here is 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins's evaluation of Wafle: "Force-based defensive end that's a tackle collector on the edge," Ivins wrote. "Measured roughly 6-foot-5, 245 pounds spring before senior year and came in with some promising features. Racks up stops when ball carriers near his gaps as he has the strength and power to will his way to wins. Not always the quickest off the snap, but has the awareness to move laterally and beat cutoffs. Heavy hands and a diesel engine tend to produce most of his quarterback pressures as he defeats protection by trying to ram his way through it. Spent junior season working out of a three-point stance in a modified four-man front where he was frequently asked to play over offensive tackles. Likely to find most success in a similar alignment on Saturdays as he's built for box-based football with his toughness and football IQ. Might need some time to find his footing, but projects as a potential impact player for a College Football Playoff contender that can do the dirty work." Chad Bowden and Lincoln Riley are continuing to land elite talent on the recruiting trail. If the Trojans can hold their 2026 class together, it has the potential to be, on paper, at least, one of the best recruiting classes in USC football history.
