Heading to Puerto Rico for the Bad Bunny Residency? Add These Spots to Your Itinerary
ICYMI, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio skipped touring in the U.S. (because right) for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos album and, instead, is hosting a summerlong residency at El Choli in his beloved Puerto Rico. Described as a "love letter" to the archipelago, DTMF blends traditional Puerto Rican folkloric music genres, such as plena, bomba, jíbaro, and salsa, with reggaeton and house music. Meanwhile, its lyrics explore the complexities of Puerto Rico's colonial status and how it's led to gentrification, forced mass migration, and diasporic longing, among so many other political and social and themes.
The first show kicks off on July 11, but the July dates are exclusive to Puerto Rican residents (because right). But come August and September, the concerts open up to all us regular shmegulars outside of the island. And according to Google Flights, San Juan is the top destination people in the U.S. are searching for travel this summer, so it seems like stateside fans are flying in.
If you're making it out to La Isla del Encanto to catch Bad Bunny on stage for the show of the summer or are just pulling up to enjoy the hype, we've put together a list of activities to consider adding to your Pe Erre summertime itinerary. You're welcome.
Visit La Sala Libre's Residency
Running alongside Bad Bunny's shows is another kind of residency: La Sala Libre. Hosted by The DiaspoRico Project, La Sala Libre is a cultural residency taking place at Casa Saffra in Santurce from August 1 to September 14. This community-centered series reclaims the Puerto Rican sala by transforming the first floor of Casa Saffra, an Afro Boricua-owned home turned cultural venue, into a living room where people gather for exhibitions, performances, storytelling, and artist talks. The program bridges island and diaspora voices, offering you a unique and intimate look at Puerto Rico's evolving cultural narrative.
Tour Viejo San Juan
If it's your first time in San Juan, you have to tour the Old City. This historic district has centuries-old cobblestone streets and forts overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Classic tour stops include Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, along with the San Juan Cathedral and La Fortaleza, the oldest governor's mansion in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere. Guided walking tours offer rich context and local stories that bring the area's 500-year history to life. As part of JetBlue Vacations' new San Juan package, you can even get a complimentary guided walking tour that's valued at $125.
Hike at El Yunque National Forest
Just an hour from San Juan, El Yunque National Forest offers a lush escape into Puerto Rico's rainforest. It's known for its rich biodiversity, cascading waterfalls, and scenic hiking trails. Trails like La Mina, Mount Britton, or Pico El Yunque range from easy walks to more challenging treks, and you're likely to encounter coquís, tropical birds, and panoramic mountain views. Just be sure to pack a swimsuit (and a hat, sunnies, sneakers, and sunblock) because several trails lead to natural swimming spots.
Take a Bioluminescent Bay Tour
One of Puerto Rico's most magical natural wonders is the bioluminescent bay at Laguna Grande in Fajardo, about 1 to 1.5 hours from San Juan. Guided night kayaking tours take you through a mangrove channel into the bay, where the water lights up with blue-green sparks thanks to microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates. The glow is especially vivid on moonless nights, and it's one of only a few places in the world where you can see this phenomenon year-round.
Bike Ride Through Piñones
Located along the scenic coast of Piñones in Loíza, COPI (Corporación Piñones Se Integra) is a community-run cultural center that offers visitors an immersive way to experience Afro-Puerto Rican heritage and nature. Rent a bike through their CicloNatura program and ride along a lush trail that winds through mangroves, beaches, and local food stands. COPI also hosts engaging bomba workshops, where guests can learn traditional drumming and dance from local artists.
Go for a Swim
San Juan is home to several beautiful and accessible beaches. Condado Beach is perfect for sunbathing and people-watching, Isla Verde offers calm waters and beachside bars ideal for families and jet skiing, while Ocean Park Beach offers more relaxed vibes. If you're up for a day trip, catch a ferry or flight to Culebra to visit Flamenco Beach, regularly ranked among the world's best, or head to Vieques for the secluded Playa Caracas and Playa Negra.
Ride ATVs or Horses at Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park
If you're seeking an adrenaline rush, Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park near El Yunque offers thrilling ATV and UTV tours through scenic farmland and rainforest terrain. Guests can drive through muddy trails, cross streams, and take in views of the foothills while following expert guides. The park also offers horseback riding and go-karting.
Enjoy Rum Tasting at Casa Bacardí
Take a quick ferry ride from Old San Juan to Casa Bacardí, the iconic rum distillery in Cataño. The distillery offers a variety of experiences, including mixology classes, rum tastings, and historical tours that trace Bacardí's Cuban origins and Puerto Rican legacy. You'll get to sample exclusive blends and learn how to craft cocktails like the perfect mojito or piña colada. Also, the waterfront pavilion and open-air bar provide stunning views of San Juan Bay,.
Museum-Hop Throughout San Juan
San Juan has a diverse and vibrant museum scene that's perfect for art lovers and history buffs. The Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in Santurce showcases a wide range of Puerto Rican visual art, from classical to contemporary. Nearby, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo focuses on Latin American and Caribbean works. In Old San Juan, Museo de las Américas explores the cultural roots of the region.
Enjoy San Juan Nightlife
Okay, what you're really here for: to perrear. San Juan is known for having one of the best nightlife scenes in the world. In La Placita de Santurce, a produce market by day transforms into a street party after dark, packed with bars, live music, and dancing. For cocktails, La Factoría in Old San Juan consistently ranks among the world's best bars and offers multiple rooms with different vibes. And if you want to keep the Bad Bunny theme, hit up his new Café con Ron bar while you're in Viejo San Juan.

This cuisine is rare in the Bay Area. A chef just opened a restaurant devoted to it
When Eric Rivera was in solitary confinement in the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, food kept him sane. He'd sit at a desk, alone, and pretend to be taking orders and cooking at a fantasy restaurant to pass the time. In his mind, he made the Puerto Rican dishes his mother taught him, and invented his own spins, like eggs benedict with slow-roasted pork. Now, the chef, who ran a beloved Puerto Rican food business out of an Oakland liquor store until his arrest in 2017, has started that restaurant. Puerto Rican Street Cuisine opened July 15 at 1430 23rd Ave. in Oakland with dishes including chicken encebollado and tostones, deep-fried plantains. Fans flocked to the takeout window, dancing to Puerto Rican music and hanging out on the sidewalk while they waited for their food. It sold out by the end of the day. Rivera, a native of New York, is best known for Borinquen Soul, which was born as a food truck before gaining a loyal following from inside the Two Star Market liquor store until closing in 2017, and W.E.P.A. — a nod to a Puerto Rican term for 'right on' and an acronym for Where Everybody Parties At — in Jack London Square, which was featured in an episode of Guy Fieri's Food Network TV show 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.' That same year, Rivera's rise came to an abrupt halt when he was arrested on a robbery he says he did not commit. He served nearly six years in jail, cooking for his fellow inmates and joining a hunger strike to protest poor food quality. When Rivera returned home, friends encouraged him to start cooking again. The reception to popups was 'overwhelming,' he said. Puerto Rican Street Cuisine serves staples such as pernil, empanadas filled with shredded chicken and rice topped with beans, squash and olives. Rivera said customers still ask for a dish highlighted on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives': canoa, a maximalist, loaded fried plantain filled with ground beef, peppers, onion and cheese. He plans to offer daily specials, such as fried pork chops or mofongo (mashed plantains with pork). Expect future events in the Oakland space's backyard, which is equipped with a large smoker. Puerto Rican cuisine remains underrepresented in the Bay Area. Puerto Rican Street Cuisine is now Oakland's only dedicated Puerto Rican restaurant, since the popular La Perla moved to Castro Valley last year. Two of the Bay Area's other Puerto Rican food businesses are run by Borinquen Soul alumni: Boriqua Kitchen, the region's only Puerto Rican food truck, and the vegan Casa Borinqueña, which operated in Oakland before moving to IKEA food hall Saluhall in San Francisco. Rivera hopes his current employees will launch the next wave of Puerto Rican restaurants. He also plans to teach cooking classes to local youth and says he's in talks to sell frozen foods in grocery stores. The East Oakland space will serve as a central hub, he envisions, for training cooks and opening takeout-only locations of Puerto Rican Street Cuisine throughout the Bay Area. Puerto Rican Street Cuisine is open for takeout and delivery from 3 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Seth Rollins Injures Knee At WWE Saturday Night's Main Event
A Seth Rollins knee injury led to an impromptu finish on Saturday night. Rollins competed against LA Knight at tonight's edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in Atlanta. The match went on for a few minutes before Rollins hit a springboard senton and set up a moonsault from the middle rope on the opposite side of the ring. Knight rolled out of the way to avoid it, and Rollins landed awkwardly on his knee. He rolled to the ropes as commentary mentioned that he must have tweaked his knee. Rollins then dragged himself to the corner as the referee tried to check on him. Knight went to attack Rollins, but backed away as the referee called him off. Rollins conferenced with Paul Heyman and the referee, then the doctor came out to the ring. The doctor and Rollins spoke briefly, then Rollins pulled himself up and the match was restarted. Rollins hobbled his way over as Knight rushed him and hit the BFT. Knight immediately made the cover and raised his arms. However, he looked visibly upset about the injury and impromptu finish and could be seen yelling 'f*ck' before leaving the ring. WWE says Seth Rollins' knee is more serious than they originally thought Michael Cole addressed the injury after the match and showed a replay of the moment it happened. Cole said it seems 'much more serious than we first thought.' The Takedown on SI's Rick Ucchino also shared non-televised footage of Rollins being helped backstage: Seth Rollins is the current Men's Money In The Bank briefcase holder. He is the leader of a stable featuring Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman, and recently began a feud with LA Knight on WWE RAW. This was their first-ever singles match against each other. They previously competed against each other in the 2025 Money In The Bank match and the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match. Catch up on everything that went down at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, including Goldberg's final match, here. 2025 Songs Of The Summer Predictions
So far in 2025, we've had new albums from Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Benson Boone, and even Will Smith. With the year far from over, I feel like it's time to predict what hit will be crowned the "song of the summer" before we're any deeper into the year. So, I asked my fellow trending news and pop culture enthusiasts at BuzzFeed which song they believe is the 2025 "song of the summer," and everybody had great responses. Here are which songs they picked (including my own selection). "Manchild" — Sabrina Carpenter "I didn't like it at first but it has grown on me, and no other song has appeared and become a 'song of the summer' for me, so I guess this one is it this year. It's so damn catchy!"—Nora Dominick, Senior Entertainment Editor Check out the music video for "Manchild." "New Friends" — Flowerovlove "'new friends' by flowerovlove is pure pop perfection. The bridge ('You're just a man / Why would I be your friend?') is iconic, and I hope her career blows up like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan's did last summer!"—Kristen Harris, Staff Writer Check out the visualizer for "New Friends." "Vibes Don't Lie (Remix)" — Leon Thomas & Big Sean "Not to be dramatic, but this song was MADE for sun-lounging and rosé-sipping. If you're a fan of slow, sexy R&B, this — and any Leon Thomas track, TBH — is for you."—Leyla Mohammed, Staff Writer Check out the YT audio of "Vibes Don't Lie (Remix). "Wifey Riddim" — Shygirl ft. Jorja Smith & SadBoi "Colossal team-up, infectious production, eye-catching video—what else could you want? Shygirl is, as always, always bringing the heat."—Larry Fitzmaurice, Senior Weekend Editor Check out the music video for "Wifey Riddim." "Nokia" — Drake "My song of the summer (despite it being released in February) is 'Nokia' by Drake. No matter your feelings about Drizzy in 2025, the man has always known how to master a catchy summer song — and this track is no exception. As well as being a total bop, 'Nokia' asks the all-important questions for a true hot girl summer: 'Who's calling my phone?' and 'Where the fuck the function?' Get me some sun, a spicy marg, and what more could I need?"—Ellen Durney, Staff Writer"Mine is Drake's 'NOKIA.' It's just so groovy! Whenever I hear, 'Where the f*** the function,' it's like a call to action. Like, I immediately want to get up and find the vibes."—Chelsea Stewart, Weekend Editor Check out the music video for "Nokia." "Can We Talk About Isaac?" — Rachel Chinouriri "This song belongs on every summer playlist, in my humble opinion — it's bright, pop perfection that makes you wanna dance around the room and sing into a hairbrush. I saw her perform the song at her headline tour last month, and the energy of the crowd was electric. I think we're long overdue for a Rachel Chinouriri summer."—Angelica Martinez, Latine Editorial Lead Check out the official visualiser for "Can We Talk About Issac?" "You Got Time and I Got Money" — Smerz "This is a *true* version of summer: languorous in the sticky heat, yearning but woozy, fun but TIRED. It's a pop song with just enough cheek and just enough swagger. It's a Smerz Summer."—Alex Naidus, Editorial Director Check out the music video for "You Got Time and I Got Money." "Ribs" — Lorde "RIBS — LORDE — This is my song of the summer for 2025 because I listen to it when I am depressed and baby, look around, this song has never been more relevant. Also, despite it being my depression song, it's also a certified bop, so if you see me driving down the road crying while listening to this song for the 17th time this week, no you didn't!"—Lara Parker, Director of the Lifestyle and Trending News Check out the YT audio for "Ribs." "Headphones On" — Addison Rae "The song of the summer is 'Headphones On' by Addison Rae. Am I correct? No. Do I care? NO!!!!"—Sarah Wainschel, Deputy Director, Aud Dev"To me, this year's song of the summer glory belongs to Addison Rae for blessing us with 'Headphones On' because not only is it a bop, but it genuinely feeeels like summer. It doesn't take itself seriously, makes my brain feel smooth, and forces me to forget about The Grind™ and soak up some (much needed) vibey vibes instead. Just like summer. Guess I gotta accept the pain. 💅"—Kelsie Hammond, Junior Community Strategist Check out the music video for "Headphones On." "Boots on the Ground (Where Them Fans At)" — 803Fresh "I think 'Boots on the Ground' by 803Fresh is definitely the song of the summer. It's catchy, and it feels new and familiar at the same time. No matter how many times I hear it, it makes me dance."—Tafi Mukunyadzi, Senior Editor Check out the music video for "Boots on the Ground." "No Broke Boys" — Disco Lines & Tinashe "Hearing this song for the first time made me feel like I was driving through California with the car roof open, even though I was actually in my mother's SUV in the suburbs "—Natasha Jokic, Senior Staff Writer Check out the official audio for "No Broke Boys." "End of the World" — Miley Cyrus "It SHOULD have been 'End of the World' by Miley Cyrus, but you all let it flop. A poignant, relevant song (the political climate—HELLO) with a catchy-as-hell, ABBA-esque beat: Miley delivered everything you could want in a song of the summer!! I'll never, EVER forget that you let her (and me) down!!!"—Matt Stopera, Founding Editor Check out the music video for "End of the World." "Final Boss" — MARINA "MARINA's newest album is full of bangers, but the final song is my favorite. It's wildly catchy, and it's the perfect 'getting ready to go out' song. Shout-out to 'CUNTISSIMO' as a runner-up."—Hannah Marder, Senior Staff Writer Check out the visualiser for "Final Boss." "Asking 4 A Friend" — Bermuda Search Party "You know that feeling in the summer when the sun starts to set around 9pm and you find yourself in a backyard surrounded by good friends and the music that's playing just hits all the right vibes. That's Bermuda Search Party. Their sound is so nostalgic and yet of this very moment. It's like their music is from a cut scene of a movie you always wanted to be in except this time it's your real life, soak it in. When the brass comes in, you cant help but move your feet and smile. Oh and if you can, go see them live, its magic."—Jennifer Tonti, Senior Audience Development Strategist Check out the music video for "Asking For a Friend." "Ace Trumpets" — Clipse "There's something about a pure gangster, grimy, gully beat by Pharrell that makes you frown in utter disgust that just hits the inner east-coast child in me. You know that stank face you make when the beat is soooo good? THIS! Not to mention hearing Pusha T and Malice reunite and lay down entire verses where they rhyme with one word the whole time. Lyrical mastery. Insanity. On repeat over here."—Karlton Jahmal, Sponsorship and Assignments Editor at BuzzFeed Check out the lyric video for "Ace Trumpets." "Is It?" — Tyla "Tyla "Is It?' is my song of the summer because it's such a summery, flirtatious bop with a super cute music video to accompany it. Tyla continues to prove that she's a formidable main pop girlie!"—Terry Carter Jr., Director of Pop Culture and Celebrity News Check out the music video for "Is It?" And finally, "Hold My Hand" (Jet2holidays Version) — Jess Glynne The internet has spoken! The song of the summer is Jess Glynne's 2015 song 'Hold My Hand', but not the original. No. 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' commercial being repurposed for TikTok videos and Instagram Reels. I've been a fan of the song before the 2022 Jet2holidays ad, but I have discovered a new love for the track with that quirky British voice talking over a video of a toddler tumbling down padded stairs.—Myke Thompson, Jr. Staff Writer Check out the TV advert for Jet2holiday. Now it's your turn! What do you think is the 2025 song of the summer? Share in the comments or use this anonymous form.
