Former India batter Ambati Rayudu is among those backing Royal Challengers Bengaluru to finally end their 18-year wait for an Indian Premier League (IPL) title as they face Punjab Kings in the final in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Neither RCB nor PBKS have won a season despite being part of the world's biggest T20 league since its inception in 2008, meaning the IPL will witness a first-time champion on Tuesday regardless of which team ends up on the winning side.

RCB 'truly deserve this season', says six-time IPL winner Rayudu
'There has always been an amazing cricketing rivalry between the three great southern cities… I think it's time for the great city of Bangalore to win their first ever IPL trophy tonight, which they truly deserve this season… Go RCB… bring it home,' Rayudu, who won three titles each with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, wrote on X.
After finishing second on the points table with a victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the final league match of the season, RCB stormed into the final after outplaying PBKS in Qualifier in Mullanpur. Suyash Sharma and Josh Hazlewood collected three wickets each while opener Phil Salt struck an unbeaten 56 as Bengaluru bundled Punjab out for just 101 before chasing the target down with 8 wickets and half of their overs to spare.
Punjab, however, bounced back in the subsequent match, with skipper Shreyas Iyer smashing an unbeaten 87 to steer his team to a five-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad. MI had defeated Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator in Mullanpur, but stumbled in the penultimate game of the season for the second time in three seasons.
While PBKS have made it to the final just once, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2014 final, RCB have finished runners-up thrice – each time with a different captain. While the Anil Kumble-led side lost to Deccan Chargers in 2009, the team led by Daniel Vettori were vanquished by MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings two years later.
The only time batting superstar Virat Kohli led the franchise into the final was in 2016, the season in which he amassed a record 973 runs. Despite their outstanding performance that season, RCB ended up losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.

'They gave a chance to Karun Nair...': Father of snubbed India player in England series slams BCCI selectors

Karun Nair The fifth and final Test between India and England is underway. While players like Anshul Kamboj and Sai Sudharsan made their Test debuts during the series, and Karun Nair returned to the playing XI after a long gap, a few players have remained on the sidelines throughout, including Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Despite being part of multiple India squads since receiving his maiden call-up in 2022, he is still waiting for his Test debut, even as 15 others have debuted during that time. Abhimanyu Easwaran's father lashed out at the team management. His father, Ranganathan Easwaran, has expressed his frustration over the way his son has been treated by the team management. 'I'm not keeping a count of the number of days that Abhimanyu has been waiting for his Test debut. I am counting the years; it has been three years now. What is the job of a player? It is to score runs. He has done that. People said he didn't perform in two India A matches during the last tour of Australia and didn't get into the team, which is fair enough. But Karun Nair wasn't in the team during the period when Abhimanyu performed before the BGT. Karun wasn't picked for the Duleep Trophy or the Irani Trophy. Abhimanyu scored close to 864 runs if you consider the period from last year to the current year,' Abhimanyu's father Ranganathan Easwaran told TOI. 'Then how do they compare? I don't understand. They gave a chance to Karun Nair. Fair enough, he scored 800-plus runs. The selectors have put faith in him.' Ranganthan also said that his son looks depressed Ranganthan further said that his son looks depressed, 'My son looks a little depressed, but that is bound to happen. Some players jump the gun based on IPL performances which earn them a spot in the Test team. IPL performances should not be counted while selecting the team for the longest format. Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy should be the basis for Test selection,' he said. The 29-year-old, has played 103 first-class matches, scoring 7841 runs at an average of 48.70, Easwaran has smashed 27 centuries and 31 fifties.

WATCH- Why Was Virat Kohli Crying In Bathroom? Yuzvendra Chahal Shockingly Reveals

Yuzvendra Chahal recently shared an emotional moment from the 2019 World Cup semifinal, revealing that he witnessed Virat Kohli and nearly every other Indian player crying in the bathrooms after the heartbreaking loss to New Zealand in Manchester. India, despite a strong bowling effort, fell short by 18 runs while chasing a target of 240 on the reserve day of the match. This was a major blow to Virat's captaincy as it ultimately proved to be the only ODI World Cup he capatined India in. Despite being the best team on paper, India not winning the world cup brought a lot of criticism for the team especially Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri. Speaking on the podcast Figuring Out With Raj Shamani, Chahal who played in that match recalled the emotional aftermath while discussing the differences between the leadership styles of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. When asked if he had ever seen Kohli cry, Chahal responded with a powerful memory. Yuzvendra Chahal - "I saw tears in Virat bhaiya's eyes after the 2019 semi-final loss and he was crying even in the bathroom" — OM. (@Badpatch18) August 1, 2025 'I love how Rohit bhaiya carries himself on the ground. He's a very good captain. With Virat bhaiya, it's the energy he brings, the same energy every day. It will only go up and never down. Same energy. Every day," Chahal said. Host Raj Shamani referenced the recent 2025 IPL final where Kohli was seen tearing up on live television after Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally clinched the title. In response, Chahal said, '2019 World Cup, I saw him crying in the bathroom. And then I was the last batter, when I was crossing him, he had tears in his eyes. In 2019, I saw everyone crying in the bathroom." Kohli had enjoyed a good World Cup campaign leading up to the semifinal but was dismissed early in that match, scoring just 1 run off 6 balls after being trapped LBW by Trent Boult. Reflecting on his own performance in the game, Chahal admitted it's a match he still regrets. Although he had contributed well throughout the tournament, he ended up being India's most expensive bowler in the semifinal, giving away 63 runs in his 10 overs and picking up the wicket of Kane Williamson. 'I could have done better,' Chahal said. Chahal in the podcast revealed everything from his sad days due to cheating allegations post divorce to the lock room talks in Indian dressing room. He was candid and honest in the podcast and fans are loving the hidden tales from the leggie.

'We couldn't step out together': Yuzvendra Chahal on RJ Mahvash being labelled a homewrecker, opens up on dating rumours

There have been rumours suggesting cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal is dating RJ Mahvash after his divorce from Dhanashree Verma. Now, the cricketer has broken his silence about the buzz, slamming people who called RJ Mahvash a 'homewrecker'. RJ Mahvash is often spotted with Yuzvendra Chahal. Yuzvendra Chahal speaks up Chahal addressed the rumours during a conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast. When asked if anything is going on with Mahvash or anyone, Chahal clarified, 'No, there's nothing. People can think whatever they want to think.' He shared that it will take some time to move on from his previous relationship, sharing that he needs to gather himself first. The cricketer also spoke about the viral picture of him and Mahvash from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai. He shared that it was the first time that he was spotted with someone, and people started the dating buzz. Opening up about how the dating rumours took a toll on them, 'For the first time, when I was seen with someone, people started linking us right away. Even though she clarified it, it was very hard for her. She was called a homewrecker… people said really nasty things. I felt terrible… We could not step out together.' Chahal shared that Mahvash was a rock for him during the tough time in his life, and it pained him to see her getting pulled into the drama surrounding his divorce. Talking about the pictures from Christmas dinner, he said there were five people at the dinner, 'but the photo was cropped to make it look like just the two of us were on a dinner date'. There was one more incident which bothered him. It was when they were seen together at a hotel before he left for the airport. Chahal said she was picking him up from a hotel to drop him off at the airport when someone recorded a video. He said he was just fixing his hair, 'and people started saying all sorts of cheap things, like we were coming out of a hotel room. That really hurt me. It was very upsetting'. RJ Mahvash and Yuzvendra Chahal dating rumours Chahal and Mahvash first sparked dating rumours when they were seen spending time together amid the cricketer's split from his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma. Although Mahvash denied any romantic involvement at the time, clarifying they were just friends, pictures and videos of the two attending a Champions Trophy match together only added fuel to the speculation. Since then, Mahvash has posted messages appreciating Chahal's performance in the IPL, with Chahal himself calling her his 'spine' in one such interaction. Despite the dating buzz, RJ Mahvash has asserted that she is single and often calls out social media users for trolling her about her reported relationship with Chahal.
