Vijay Sethupathi
has addressed the recent
sexual misconduct allegations
circulating on social media, choosing to speak out amid growing attention. The actor, widely known for his versatile roles in
Tamil cinema
, including films like Maharaja, Viduthalai, and Super Deluxe, firmly rejected the "filthy" accusations and characterized them as an intentional
smear campaign
aimed at gaining attention and disrupting his professional momentum.

While the situation has understandably affected his family and close friends, Vijay said he has chosen to remain composed, urging his loved ones not to be distressed by what he describes as a desperate bid for attention.
'Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too. This kind of filthy accusation can't upset me. My family and close friends are upset, but I tell them, 'Let it slide. This woman is obviously doing it to be noticed. She has her few minutes of fame; let her enjoy it," he told
Deccan Chronicle.
Taking legal recourse, Vijay revealed that his legal representatives have already taken the matter to the cybercrime department. The actor, who has faced various forms of negative campaigns over the past several years, maintained that these attempts to defame him have consistently failed to shake his resolve. He emphasized his ability to withstand such adversity, stating that smear efforts have never disrupted his journey in the industry and will not do so now either.
Vijay believes that the timing of the accusations is not coincidental. With the positive response to his latest project,
Thalaivan Thalaivii
, which also features Nithya Menen, he suspects the controversy is a deliberate strategy to undermine the film's success. He referred to such negativity as the work of envious individuals who may believe that tarnishing his reputation could sabotage the film's performance.
"My new film is doing well. Probably, some jealous elements think that by tarnishing me they can damage my film. It doesn't work that way, " he said.
However, Vijay dismissed this notion, explaining that in today's digital climate, anyone can publish unverified content online without accountability, which often leads to the unchecked spread of false narratives.
The controversy was sparked by a post from a user identified as Ramya Mohan on platform X (formerly Twitter). She accused the actor of engaging in unethical behavior, including offering large sums of money in exchange for inappropriate favors.
"@VijaySethuOffl has offered Rs 2 lakh for 'caravan favors' and Rs 50k for 'drives' and acts like a saint on social media,' she wrote on X.
Her post also made sweeping accusations about the Tamil film industry, referencing substance abuse, exploitation, and the alleged normalization of predatory behavior disguised as standard industry practices. She cited a case of a woman she knows who was reportedly pulled into this cycle and is currently in rehabilitation. However, the original post has since been removed from the platform.
Despite the provocative nature of the post and the serious claims made, Vijay Sethupathi remains focused on his work, standing firm against what he sees as falsehoods and slander. With legal proceedings in motion and a steady public presence, the actor continues to maintain his composure, unwavering in the face of controversy.

War 2 US Advance Booking: Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr starrer hits USD 170K in North America already; More locations to open soon

Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani starrer War 2 has started its advance booking at the US box office. The YRF movie is trending well and is likely to storm a banger opening at the box office. War 2 hits USD 170K of pre-sales in North America As of 8 AM (August 3, Sunday), War 2 sold over 5500 tickets in 1585 shows across 580 locations of the US. The movie recorded a pre-sales of USD 150K plus. While the total advance of War 2 in for North American premiere shows reached USD 170K. More locations are yet to open the advance booking. The movie is expected to see better jumps in the coming days. As of now, War 2 advances are similar to Salman Khan's Tiger 3 and Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki. Unlike the other two titles, the Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer is releasing in two languages in the US- Hindi and Telugu. The movie is likely to cross the USD 200K mark by tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how far War 2 can go from here on, as the movie still has 11 days to release. War 2 advances open much later than Coolie in the US When compared to Coolie, War 2 is far behind at the US advance booking. However, one must note that the Ayan Mukerji directorial has just started its pre-sales in the territory while the advances for Tamil movie were open since Mid-July. For the record, Rajinikanth's Coolie has already smashed a historic feat by becoming the fastest Tamil movie to hit the USD 1 million of pre-sales at the North American box office for the premiere shows. War 2 and Coolie are set for a head-to-head box office clash on August 14, 2025. Both movies are considered to be the biggest bets of the respective film industries this year. It will be interesting to see which one of them opens bigger and leads the clash in the end. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

War 2 advance booking opens on disastrous note in US: Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR film fails to sell a ticket for many shows

Over 10 days ahead of its release, the advance booking for YRF's upcoming spy thriller War 2 began in the overseas market. US was the first place where the YRF Spy Universe film started its pre-sales for tickets, looking to bank upon the star power of its two leads - Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. However, the start has not been what Yash Raj Films had hoped. War 2 is a YRF Spy Universe film that stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. War 2 premiere shows in the US Almost a day after pre-sales were opened in the US for War 2, the Telugu version seems to have picked up some pace, but the Hindi version is lagging far behind. A look at some of the major ticketing platforms like Movie For Tickets shows that most of the big theatres screening the Hindi version have not sold a single ticket for the Wednesday premieres. As per trade sources, YRF is releasing War 2 (Hindi) in 900 screens in the US for paid previews. Telugu 360 reported that as of Sunday morning, only 1600 tickets have been sold across those 900 locations, meaning many of the halls are empty. War 2 premiere shows in the US have seen low turnout in the Hindi version (left) but decent occupancy for the Telugu version (right). This could largely be due to an absence of paid preview and Wednesday premiere culture in Hindi cinema, where even fans prefer to watch the film on the first day or first weekend itself. The premiere shows are a rage down south, particularly in Tamil and Telugu cinema, where these shows get good numbers for films featuring the bigger stars. HT has reached out to YRF for a comment on the advance booking trends, but is yet to get a response. The article will be updated if a response is provided. Telugu version fares better Naturally then, the Telugu version is doing much better, banking on Jr NTR's star power. The shows for War 2 (Telugu) already show decent occupancy, and as per reports, the collections have crossed $100k in the US for the Wednesday premiere for this version. However, trade experts note that this, too, is lower than expectations. War 2 needs to cross $1 million in Telugu pre-sales alone to justify its scale of release in the US. All about War 2 War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. The film sees Hrithik reprise his role as the superspy Kabir, with Jr NTR joining him as another Indian spy, who is at loggerheads with him. The film also stars Kiara Advani. Part of the YRF Spy Universe, War 2 is releasing on August 14 for the Independence Day weekend.
