Neatly tucked in Shenzhen's Guangming District, amid the cascading skyscrapers, ecological spaces, and Vietnamese eateries, a spherical, pebble-shaped museum has slowly taken shape over the last several years. The Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum is the hottest new attraction in the city's itinerary, officially opening its doors on May 1, 2025. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the museum's striking, space-age silhouette represents the future of 'digital civilisation' and technological advancement.
Located within the broader Greater Bay Area known as China's Silicon Valley, the museum spans approximately 130,000 square metres across six above-ground floors and two subterranean levels. It features a 33-metre-high central atrium and joins a cluster of high-profile developments, including the OPPO Shenzhen headquarters and the Shenzhen Institute of Financial Technology, both slated for completion this year.

The fourth-floor Smart Industry Exhibition Hall delves into smart manufacturing, logistics, and biomedicine. It also features a cyberpunk-style AI art installation and a giant-screen cinema.
Finally, the fifth floor is dedicated to 'Exploring the Source of the Universe', where visitors encounter a full-scale space capsule and movie-like space exploration displays. Read More More than 20,000 people join search for new dementia treatments
