IAF Pilot Killed In Jaguar Crash Became A Father A Month Ago, Was Youngest Among Siblings
Squadron Leader Lokender Singh, who died in the Jaguar fighter jet crash near Churu, had become a father just a month ago. He was the youngest among three siblings.
One of the two pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF), who died in a crash of a Jaguar fighter jet near Churu in Rajasthan, had become a father just a month back.
According to The Times Of India, Squadron Leader Lokender Singh's wife had delivered a baby boy on June 10 and was still at her maternal home when the news of her husband's death broke.
The Squadron Leader was a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, and had got married during the Covid times, the report claimed, adding that he was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 2016.
Lokender Singh was the youngest among his three siblings, according to the report. While his brother works at a multinational company (MNC), his sister recently completed her tenure as a short-service commissioned officer in the air force.
The Jaguar fighter jet crash on Wednesday was the third such accident since March involving the twin-engine bomber.
The IAF said a court of inquiry has been constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Shortly after the crash, locals rushed to the site and found burning debris.
Policemen from Rajaldesar and Ratangarh police stations, a fire brigade and an ambulance also rushed to the spot.
On March 7, a Jaguar fighter jet crashed following a system malfunction shortly after taking off from the Ambala air base. The pilot had manoeuvred the aircraft away from any habitation on the ground before ejecting safely.
On April 2, another Jaguar jet crashed at a village near Jamnagar IAF station in Gujarat following a technical snag. The aircraft was on a training mission.
One pilot was killed in the accident while the other sustained injuries.
Jaguar is a British-French fighter aircraft that was originally deployed in the British Royal Air Force and the French Air Force. The first flight of the Jaguar took place on September 8, 1968.
India started inducting the jet in the late 70s.
India inducted 116 Jaguars, out of which 70 were produced under license in the country.

More admission rounds to fill vacant GU seats
Panaji: The Goa University has announced an additional round of Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) to fill vacant seats left in 33 postgraduate programmes for the year 2025-26 after the first and second round. Round II of GU-ART will be held for four programmes of MA in psychology, MA in economics, masters of computer applications and MSc in data science. Round III of GU-ART will be held for 29 other programmes where seats are still vacant in GU and affiliated colleges. This include masters in public administration, international studies, Konkani, French, Portuguese, Sanskrit Studies, Marathi, sociology, social work, botany, biochemistry, AI, women's studies, among others. The last date to apply is July 15. 'The GU-ART Round II and Round III for the respective Programmes shall be held on July 18. The test shall be held in online mode. The results of GU-ART Round II and Round III of the respective programmes shall be displayed on the university website tentatively by July 22. Candidates answering the Round II GU-ART Rounds shall be ranked after the Round I and the candidates answering the Round III GU-ART Rounds shall be ranked after the Round II candidates,' the university notification states. The GU-ART is one paper of 100 marks, containing 50 objective multiple choice questions (MCQ) of 2 marks each. The duration of the test is 90 minutes.

IAF recovers black box of crashed Jaguar aircraft after 4-day search
1 2 Jhunjhunu: Following an intensive four-day search operation, the IAF on Saturday recovered the black box of the Jaguar trainer aircraft that crashed near Bhanuda village in Churu district of Rajasthan on July 9. The discovery is expected to shed light on the tragic accident that claimed the lives of two IAF pilots. A specialized IAF team, comprising 22 personnel, arrived at the crash site near Bhanuda on Saturday morning via helicopter. The team, assisted by 30-40 local villagers, conducted a thorough ground search in a 5km radius through fields and forests before locating the crucial flight data recorder. The crash claimed the lives of Squadron Leader Lokendra Singh Sindhu, 44, from Rohtak, Haryana, and Flight Lieutenant Rishi Raj Singh, 23, from Pali, Rajasthan. The IAF set up a Court of Inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident. Prior to the discovery, search teams from Delhi, Gujarat, and Suratgarh Air Force stations were actively involved in the operation since Wednesday.
