David Lappartient to serve third term as UCI president unopposed
Lappartient, who is also the former head of the French Olympic Committee, lost to Kirsty Coventry in the race for president of the International Olympic Committee earlier this year.
He has been president of the UCI since 2017.
'Only David Lappartient, current UCI President, submitted a candidacy for the position,' the UCI said. 'His election for a third four-year term will be confirmed without a vote.'
The election of the president for the 2025-29 period will take place during the next UCI Congress, which will be held on Sept. 25 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Brand leads Germany to opening 2-0 win over Poland at Euro 2025
ST. GALLEN, Switzerland (AP) — Jule Brand scored one goal and set up the other to lead Germany to a 2-0 win over debutant Poland in their Women's European Championship opening game on Friday. Germany, the eight-time champion, needed patience against the hard-tackling and committed Poland players, but Brand made the most of a lapse in concentration when she cut inside two defenders to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute. The winger then sent in a cross for Lea Schüller to seal the result with a header in the 66th. Germany lost captain Giulia Gwinn to injury late in the first half after she made a desperate challenge to stop Ewa Pajor from scoring. Pajor, the Poland captain, was her team's biggest threat and might have leveled the score in the 64th after she sent a German defender flying, only for Germany goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger to stand firm against her centrally placed shot. Berger later produced a brilliant reflex save to stop Pajor's header. Like Poland, Berger was making her competition debut. The 34-year-old Germany goalkeeper missed the previous tournament and later said she was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. On Friday she became Germany's oldest player at a European Championship. Berger was the busier of the two goalkeepers as Poland's central defensive partnership of Paulina Dudek and Emilia Szymczak kept the pacey German forwards in check. Reliever Santillan strikes out Bohm with bases loaded in the 8th, Reds beat Phillies 9-6
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Spencer Steer hit a two-RBI double to spark a five-run third inning and Reds reliever Tony Santillan struck out Alec Bohm with the bases loaded to end the eighth and lead Cincinnati past the Philadelphia Phillies 9-6 on Friday. Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo lasted only two-plus innings and Reds starter Andrew Abbott — both pitchers entered with seven wins — couldn't get out of the fourth. The Reds or Phillies scored at least one run in each of the first six innings and the defending NL East champion Phillies finished with 14 hits. The Reds had 11. Nick Castellanos hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help stake Luzardo (7-5) to a 3-0 lead. Luzardo pitched like an All-Star deep into May with an ERA hovering under 2.00 through his first 10 starts. He has been rocked in most of his outings since. He allowed a run in the second inning and gave up two run-scoring singles, a sacrifice fly and Steer's double in the third that made it 6-3. Elly De La Cruz added an RBI single in the fourth and the Reds tacked on two more runs in the fifth for a 9-4 lead. Sam Moll — one of seven Reds pitchers — tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win and Emilio Pagán got his 19th save. Santillan truly saved the game when he caught Bohm looking on a 98 mph fastball to keep the score 9-6. Key moment Trailing 7-4 in the fifth, the Phillies had runners on the corners with one out and Kyle Schwarber at bat. Schwarber hit a comebacker to the pitcher, who got the forceout at second. Edmundo Sosa hesitated on the basepath and got a late jump before he decided to scurry home. De La Cruz nailed Sosa at the plate to end the inning. MUNICH (AP) — Davis Bryant, an American ranked 576th in the world, made a hole-in-one and nine birdies on the way to shooting 9-under 63 for a two-shot lead after the second round of the BMW International Open on Friday. Bryant aced his third hole of the day — No. 12 — with a shot from 165 yards, and also rolled in putts from 30 feet and 20 feet at Golfclub München Eichenried.
