Jensen Ackles weighs in on Batman casting: ‘I'll cross 'em!'
Jensen Ackles is open to the idea of playing Batman.
DC head James Gunn is currently looking for the next actor to portray the Dark Knight in the DC Universe (DCU) and The Boys star, 47, has now said he would want to play Batman, but knows it would be 'hard to carve out something truly unique' if he were to take on the role.
When Collider asked Ackles if he would be open to playing Batman, he said: 'Oh, man. I don't know. It would be hard to carve out something truly unique amongst all of the performances as Batman.
'I would probably have to lean heavily on Gunn and whoever's directing and whoever's writing it, and get inspiration from the text.'
The Countdown actor added the pressure of playing the iconic superhero would weigh heavily on him, but would still consider portraying the Caped Crusader.
He said: 'You talk about not wanting to fumble the football — that's one that I would be nervous as hell to carry. But also proud. A certain feather in the cap. Anybody who gets to wear the cowl, they got something.'
When Collider said they'd keep their fingers crossed for him to play Batman, Ackles replied: "I'll cross 'em, too. Just say the word!'
Batman is set to get his grand introduction in the DCU with The Brave and the Bold, though no actor is attached to the role yet.
DC already has an on-screen Dark Knight with Robert Pattinson's The Batman, though the film and its 2027 sequel The Batman: Part II are Elseworlds projects and do not take place in the main DCU timeline.
The idea of folding Pattinson's Caped Crusader into the DCU and playing the character in The Brave and the Bold had been floated, but Gunn has since extinguished this theory.
During an interview with Variety, he said: 'I wouldn't rule anything out. He could show up in something else. But the actor doesn't exist [yet].'
The Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker added that he and co-DC head Peter Safran haven't had any 'serious conversations' about bringing Pattinson's Batman over to the DCU.
He said: 'Have we ever talked about Robert Pattinson? Yeah. We've talked about all those things. But serious conversations? No.'
The Brave and the Bold is expected to focus on the father-son dynamic between Batman and his accomplice Robin and will be helmed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti.
While Gunn seems uncertain about Pattison's DCU future, The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves hasn't ruled out the possibility his Caped Crusader could transition over to the mainline DCU.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said: 'It really comes down to whether it makes sense.
'There was a story I wanted to tell. The epic crime saga. It's been important to me to play that out and James and Peter have been really great about that. They are letting us do that. "What the future brings, I can't really tell you. I have no idea.'

Is AC/DC passing the torch as Australia's biggest rock band? 'One of the guys has got a huge AC/DC tattoo. They they love the band.' He said AC/DC fans can expect a performance which has good Australian pub rock energy. It's not the first time the band has been linked to AC/DC, with Taylor highlighting them as a major influence in previous interviews. The group covered AC/DC's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap at Perth's Highway to Hell festival in 2020, to rave reviews. One critic said they could be Scott's 'bastard children'. After the announcement the band would be joining AC/DC on tour, Taylor took to social media dubbing them the 'the best rock and roll band in the world'. 'I just can't believe it I am so excited. Never ever ever would have dreamed this. Highlight of my literal life,' she wrote, before adding, 'a band's music that's been weaved through my whole life.' 'Mainly just excited to see them play multiple times.' AC/DC surpasses sales record by selling over 320,000 tickets in a single day for upcoming Australian tour
AC/DC have smashed previous records after 320,000 fans scored seats on the first day of ticket sales last Thursday. The iconic rock band eclipsed their previous sales record, surpassing sales for the Black Ice World Tour in 2009. AC/DC will tour Australia for the first time in a decade, performing in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane through November and December 2025. Melbourne-based punk outfit Amyl and the Sniffers are confirmed as their Australian support act as part of their global POWER UP tour. The award-winning band will begin their Australian leg at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 12 and 16, followed by concerts at Sydney's Accor Stadium on November 21 and 25. They will also play at the Adelaide Street Circuit for the BP Adelaide Grand Final on November 30, followed by shows at Perth and Brisbane in December. There are still tickets available on Ticketek in the upper bays of stadiums starting from $203, with premium tickets on sale for more than $400. Ticket prices start from $132.45 for reserve seating and $305.75 for general admission front standing. A ticket limit of 8 per transaction is enforced. Ticketek is the official provider for shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane. Tickets for Adelaide are only available for official purchase via Ticketmaster. In addition to the tour announcement, Melbourne City Council has indicated it will seek permission for the band to recreate their iconic 1976 'It's a Long Way to the Top' music video, originally filmed on Swanson Street. AC/DC will conclude performances across the United States and Europe, where early tour legs starting in May 2024 have drawn strong crowd numbers and critical acclaim. The band sold 1.7 million tickets in the first few days when their 2024 European shows went on sale. The last time AC/DC rocked on home shores was at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium in December 2015, as part of their Rock or Bust World Tour. Ticketek were the biggest winners last Thursday with over 370,000 tickets sold in a single day. This set a new all-time high with daily sales surpassing a previous record set by The Ashes Tour in the beginning of June. Additionally, Ticketek traded almost 50,000 tickets to other events including AFL and NRL fixtures. 'These results are a reflection of the collaboration, passion, and sheer effort from every part of our business.
