Jacob deGrom wins 5th decision in row, Adolis García drives in 4 runs as Rangers beat O's 10-2
Alejandro Osuna hit his first career homer for Texas, which had gone extra innings in each of its previous four games — losing three of those.
DeGrom (9-2, 2.13 ERA) struck out six over six innings in his 14th consecutive start working at least five innings and allowing two runs or fewer. That extended his franchise record and is the longest streak in the majors this season.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner scattered five hits, allowing a two-run homer to Gary Sánchez that just cleared the wall. Six nights earlier in Baltimore, deGrom was perfect through six innings and took a no-hitter into the eighth.
García put the Rangers ahead to stay with his two-run single in the third, and scored on Jonah Heim's single to make it 3-0 against rookie right-hander Brandon Young (0-3). García had another two-run single in the fifth, an inning before Osuna's two-run homer.
Jacob Latz worked the final three innings for his first career save.

NEW YORK (AP) — Francisco Lindor was dropped from the leadoff spot Wednesday night with the New York Mets in a major tailspin. After making 191 consecutive starts at the top of the lineup, Lindor was listed in the No. 2 hole as the designated hitter for the second game of a day-night doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers and their rookie sensation, hard-throwing right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. Rangers send struggling Josh Jung to minors, activate Jake Burger from IL
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers sent struggling third baseman Josh Jung to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday and activated first baseman Jake Burger from the 10-day injured list. Jung was hitting .237 with eight homers in 35 RBIs in 75 games this season, but hit only .164 (19 of 116) over his past 30 games since May 26. An All-Star starter as a rookie in 2023, Jung didn't start Tuesday night, a day after he went 0 for 5 for the fourth time since June 16. He has struck out 36 times (29.5%) in his last 122 plate appearances. Texas made the moves before its series finale against Baltimore. 'I think it's fair to say he's been going through some struggles here,' manager Bruce Bochy said. 'The best thing right now for Josh and this club is to let him get some at-bats with Round Rock, get his game back, his confidence back. We need him.' Burger returned after missing 10 games with a left oblique strain. Jung was voted in by fans as an All-Star starter for the American League in 2023, and weeks after playing in the All-Star Game broke his left thumb on a fielding play at Miami. He returned to hit .308 (20 for 65) with three homers in the playoffs as the Rangers won their only World Series title that season. The 27-year-old Jung missed nine games earlier this year because of neck spasms. He was limited to 46 games last year after his right wrist was fractured when getting hit by a pitch. Yankees catcher Austin Wells misses 4th straight start because of left index finger
TORONTO (AP) — Austin Wells was out of the starting lineup for a fourth straight game Wednesday as Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the catcher had had recovered from an invasive test for a circulatory issue in his left index finger. 'Wellsy is good to go,' Boone said. 'He'll be in there tomorrow starting, and available tonight.' Ben Rice was set to catcher against Toronto on Wednesday night after making his second and third starts behind the player this season against the Athletics last weekend. Outfielder Trent Grisham remained sidelined because of a tight left hamstring but Boone said his condition continues to improve. Grisham left Monday's game after a cleat caught the turf. 'Yesterday was a good day and so far he even feels like today is better,' Boone said. 'If he has another good day today he might be in the lineup tomorrow.' Boone said Grisham might be available off the bench Wednesday if he felt fine after participating in pregame activity. Right-hander Luis Gil missed a scheduled throwing session Tuesday because his wife was giving birth, Boone said. The 2024 AL Rookie of the Year instread will throw on Thursday. Gil has not pitched for the Yankees this season because of a high-grade lat strain in his pitching shoulder. Right-hander Clayton Beeter from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and righty Geoff Hartlieb was designated for assignment.
